That´s totally fair. Chad started with 40 pts vs 28 pts and finished with 84 pts vs 90 pts The two other competitors scored 6 pts more in total after all.

Because the other 2 dudes were playing for 2nd place, 1st place was already wrapped up. The only chance they had was a catastrophic failure from Chad's weapon.
I love how Chad makes a historically accurate handle and gets called out cause it isn't comfortable for the judge lmao
@@slothjon1960 You must be new right? Historical accuracy is a major theme of this show. It is the History Channel after all... This wasn't an issue of effectiveness it was bias based on J. Neilson's personal preferences. Contestants usually get "extra points" for historical accuracy like handle designs, engravings, pommel designs, etc... When the weapons perform equally well those extra details usually decide the winner. In this case it didn't matter cause he won anyways, but J needs to worry about the strength of the weapon and let Doug worry about the comfortably and effectiveness of the weapon. IMO Doug is the only one there qualified to make that call.

Guess they were hinting at him to cheer up because he was obviously nervous and concerned,they probably just wanted to lighten up his shoulders a bit.
Only one guy choose to do something difficult, the others took the easy option... that guy just showed them up hard
Just for doing it he got 20 points. He was so ahead that even if the blade failed he had the win in the bag as soon as he chose it.

They made it extra sharp because it's like so easy to sharpen it. The difficult one is way too hard to make sharp

I agree but at the same time, it's clearly a rule of the show. There is almost certainly some producer behind the camera mouthing like "punch his shoulder and say good job man" between every test

Blacksmithing is a dead skill. Everyone that does it understands that and so they in tern respect each other know that they few and far between.

Can’t believe this awesome show exists on the same channel which talks, without drugs (maybe)and seriously, about aliens.
Now I agree that the vast majority of the shows on the history channel are total garbage, but let's be real here...aliens exist...somewhere out there. I doubt any have ever visited earth though.

Gary shoulda won, his sword did the very best out of the 3, yeah in my book Gary won hands down. He made such a vicious very sharp scary weapon
I actually won the final challenge, they edited that out of this video, but Chad won (and he deserved it) overall. It was an amazing experience and the four of us that did the show together are still friends and text all of the time.

I must have seen Jay break half a dozen blades in strength tests that nearly skewered him, but it hasn't made him hold back in the slightest.

@@Keegs14 Yeah it was an editing error. If you pay attention you can catch them every now and again, usually on the first round cause everyone is running amok trying to get things done, and I doubt the editors pay attention to continuity errors much there.

The strength tests are downright brutal. Seriously it's like, "We're gonna smash your blades into a whole block of adamantium and then have an elephant step on them, and if they take even the slightest bit of damage that lessens your chance of winning significantly"

Dude at 8:41 they switch the shot back to the one of the burlap bag and don’t show him striking the leather bag. Either an editing mistake or something went wrong during that strike so they intentionally duplicated the shot and edited out the one of hitting the leather bag
one stupid thing is to do durability tests before cut test it should be like this 1-cut test 2-kill test 3 Strength test
all these seasons later and they still havent given Doug a towel to wipe his hands or a sink for him to wash his hands aha
