One of my all time favorites. Period. Used to listen to Let It Flow religiously every time we partied during high school and college. Classic album and incredible guitar playing. Johnny V on guitar with Elvin was amazing! Sadly I’ve lost two of my best friends from those days, in just the last two years. At 65, those years were some of the best of my life. Thank you Elvin for creating the soundtrack.

I’ve seen Elvin more than I can count. The first time was ‘73 in Iowa City at a bar during one of the best weekends I can remember. He did a 3 night run during his “Rock My Soul” tour. On Friday afternoon we wondered in for a drink and Elvin was playing along with Dickey Betts and Charlie Daniels. Just jamming on slides. All this before we headed to the Duane Allman Memorial Auditorium to see Charlie open for the ABB. Yes, it was named that because the students voted for it. Later changed back to its old name. But hey, what a 3 day run! Jo Baker was singing with them. What an incredible voice for such a small lady. A real treat. Elvin is the best small venue act you can see. Second would have to be Ronnie Baker Brooks.

What a great performance. At first listen, I thought it was a bit clunky, but it just gets better and better every time I listen to it. And Shit, I thought that was Dickie Betts on second guitar at first. But it’s Johnny Vernazza. The guy is great. And of course Elvin is great. But the secret weapon is that drummer. Saw EB and MTB at The Music Inn, Lenox Ma. in 1975. EB & MTB kicked ass. Both bands jammed at the end and the concert ran long. Tanglewood, a Classical music venue was literally just up the road. Tanglewood was having an evening concert and called down to say they could hear the Rock music. Music Inn pulled the plug on EB & MTB but the drummers kept at it for about 20 minutes until they plugged them back in. It was a hell of a show.

If this was run on BBCs Old Grey Whistle Test, it is a recycled clip from NBCs Midnight Special.

Elvin Bishop is great, I hate whoever put the captions in this video trying to make out like Elvin was some racist, they know nothing of this man, and if they did a little research, they would know he is far from it, Jo Baker was loved by Elvin and I think his first lead vocalist.

The song was played on THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL and I am sure the Producers told their Goons to tell the crowd to keep quiet. That is the best guess I have.
