Nothing wrong with what I'm hearing. The quality is consistent, and the performance is outstanding. There doesn't seem to be any annoying crowd chatter. I think it's a winner!!
I've heard a lot worse recordings than this one. I saw them in November that year, it's bringing back all the memories of a great concert. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks for posting that, some of my favorite ELP bootlegs are from the 1972 tour. I think the sound quality is pretty decent, considering the tape is 50 years old. I especially like when they included portions of the Peer Gynt Suite (In the Hall of the Mountain King) in Aquatarkus !
I was at this concert and Dr Hook and the medicine show back them up First time I experienced them. ELP was excellent for a first time and I had nose bleed seats , the only seats I could afford. I say on the very top next to the usher , standing next to me. Who knows , maybe my friends sitting next to you, because they had main floor seats.
Oh wow! Was there, right before I was drafted into the army. Will never forget the whole scenario and what a concert. Had to endure Dr. Hook as the opening act but still …. 😎
There is another one from the concert i went to in 74 at the Swing Auditorium on the Orange show grounds in San Bernardino with the same type recording lacking in quality.
Really not bad for a 40yo cassette recording. I am curious how you managed to sneak a briefcase sized tape recorder in to the venue and where you found an AC outlet to plug it in? Resourceful you are.
The tape is shedding and wasn't transfered until it was 40 years old sorry my friend this is as good as it gets. The background noise was louder than the performance.

Back then it was easier they didn't check ladies bags, Lisa was my mule. It was battery powered so lots of batts in the pockets
Really great!! Sadly not the whole concert... why is hissier when they announce the songs? Have you ever though of a high quality tape transfer?
