SINATRA IN CONCERT At The Royal Festival Hall
Frank Sinatra: In Concert At The Royal Festival Hall is a London concert filmed on November 16, 1970, the eve of the Chairman’s temporary retirement. This concert was produced for the United World Colleges Fund and Sinatra is introduced to the delighted London audience by HRH Princess Grace of Monaco. His extraordinary and rare version of George Harrison’s Something can be seen here as well as I Have Dreamed (From The King And I). The ballads he sings are powerful and
heartfelt on the day before he was to leave show business. He closes the show with an endearing rendition of My Way.

Very simply, THE MASTER! NO one before, during or since Sinatra's reign can compare, he is simply the very best, a born perfectionist who took that trait into his music, so that his phrasing, enunciation of words, pitch, breath control and vocal emotion are just incomparable! Perfection personified.

Frank Sinatra was a massive influence on me, both musically and in other ways.
I saw him live three times in London. One of those times at the Royal Albert Hall,
after the show, I was walking out of one door and Frank was walking out of the parallel door at the same time.
A few people were standing by his limo and he was signing autographs for them.
He would usually stay at the Savoy Hotel, not that far away in fact.
I just stood there with my friend Maureen, maybe 15 feet away from him and froze like the iceberg that Titanic hit!
( These days I would have had a word or two).
Years later , having made my mark in music, I was a member of the " Sinatra Forum" for ten years.
I met Nancy backstage at the Royal Festiva;l Hall in London and had quite a bit of correspondence with her.
The top guys in the world are always " different" I'd say. They create their own reality. RIP Frank. xxx

Sophia I can't remember her last name but she is the one that Frank Sinatra is feeling a lot of pain from. Every man not young man know what he is feeling like I do. There's one woman in every man's life who he never stops loving there's always one that one. RIGHT MAN younger guys think they know. Now not yet when you are in your 60s and you start to realize time is running out in your life. That one woman hurts more and more cause you truly still love that one. That you will never get back.

Now Jack. You're being coy. Frank did your inauguration back in '61! Born in the (18)90s? You were born in 1917, it was your 101st birthday yesterday!

This was a moment I usually never seen of Sinatra ( on video or film in a concert ) something got him here probably Ava... It was real I think just for this song... Possibly because he never sang it much before and teary eyed definitely overcome with emotion and distraction.

What can one say! in this brief poignant song Sinatra the Master of musical story telling vividly conveys his unique mastery, in fact that whole London concert in my opinion finds him at his very best . Surely such artistry will live on through future generations.

I was at this concert and of course Frank was at the top of his game. However, to catch the full essence of Jimmy Webb’s songs listen to the Richard Harris album of the same, magical and special.

The music of frank sinatra is probably with that of the beatles and elvis the greatest joy of the 20th century. They were each different in their own way but all were kings.

      Ava do you think?

    • @djangorheinhardt
      @djangorheinhardt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes Ava and not Barbara whom he married a few years after this concert .He had tried to convince Ava to remarry him but she refused and then he cut his losses and married Barbara whom his family hated. They thought she was a gold digger, which she was.He loved Barbara in a way and she made a nice companion for him to the end of his life but it was not a flaming white hot searing sexual love like Ava provided ,but it was perhaps for the best he settled down with Barbara.

Rachel Maxwell that was the purpose of the sad songs. That's why he put so much feeling into the songs when he sang them.

Could have been Mia Farrow on his mind as this was closer to that time but no doubt he still thought of Ava I read the book of his valet in which it said that the song that made Frank think of Ava the most is the song I can’t get started with you
