    Cheryl,
    Thank you for all the info on mailing. I typically make 5x7 cards with multiple layers and embellishments. They are thicker than 1/4 in . They do not fall into package rate. They require the non machinable stamp and most often are over 1 oz. I was advised by my post office that I need to put a nonmachinable stamp in the upper right corner and a extra oz stamp to the left of it. It is important on that placement. Also if you buy the nonmachinable stamps or extra oz stamps they are considered forever when rates go up.
    One final option on the square cards..... put them in an acceptable envelope with a piece of card stock to stabilize it and a regular stamp will work.

      Rose - thanks for all the extra info! I did not know that placement of the butterfly stamp mattered. Good to know! Thanks for watching and for your comments!

    I've found that it depends on the postal worker when dealing with the thickness. I've mailed thicker envelopes with a normal stamp just fine and other times when I've had to go into the P.O. to mail them the worker charges the pkg rate. It's the luck of the draw. Very useful tips. I HAVE to get some Peanuts stamps, they're my favorite!!

      I agree...I think it is not an exact science and can vary from postal worker to postal worker. Thanks for watching Gayle!

      Yep and I'm sick of it. Why can't everyone know the rules and stick to it. I have the actual USPS postal template that I got from the post office years ago. I mail pinback buttons and other magnets. I mail about 20 a week in a number #0000 bubble mailer 2oz for 81 cents. period. Every now and again one comes back like today ......... which is crazy they wante $4.09 ! .......... I'm thinking about trying a non machinable stamp method and see how that works. I can mail it through my shipping software for $3.65 which is still alot. I just saw this video and notice that he turned off the comments I think it'[s because there are other videos that say this doesn't work any more. I had no idea about the additional ounce stamps! I always put 2 forever stamps on my envelopes if it was over 1 oz. Thank you so much for this info!!

    This is great. I always wonder about thickness. I see Rose said a non machinable plus extra ounce. I guess it’s time to get some butterflies. Thanks Cheryl

    Excellent well done deep dive into postal letter rates. I had the USPS teller tell me an item. refrigerator magnet, and another time a letter with stamps and a cardstock stiffener, both in 3 5/8" x 6 1/2" flat paper envelopes under 1/4" thick, that they weren't machinable because they would bend around a wheel the sorter has. Same teller both time and I was up charged, unless I wanted to risk it, smh. You didn't address rigidity which I imagine your cards have. Anyway before seeing your Tips vid I did extensive research in USPS guidelines, regulations, publications, etc., which didn't answer my questions. So if you could comment on rigidity & refrigerator magnets, who knows(?), you might include them in future cards. Thanks!

    Thank you for this info! I'm confused about one thing--one post office told me that I need extra postage if there is any irregular dimension (such as enamel dots or a chipboard piece) and another post office just goes by weight. Have you had any trouble with this?

    Is there any chance you can update the costs for these items since the price of stamps went up? ;)

    Thank you for this informative video, Cheryl! Is non-machinable (99cent stamp) good for only 1 oz?

    • @CardsbyCheryl
      @CardsbyCheryl  ปีที่แล้ว

      Lori, when you but a non-machinable stamp for $0.99 it is good for up to 2 oz. Thanks for watching!
