- Southern #154: The Last Hurrah 12-21/22-2024.
It's the weekend before Christmas of 2024, and we are back in Volunteer country for the third time this year. This weekend is definitely bittersweet for us and the Rambler because it is the final weekend of operation of Southern Railway #154. After 15 long years of operation, she is finally due for her mandated FRA 1472-day inspection and overhaul. Throughout the last month we reshot all of our favorite locations on the Rambler, and then some. We have a bigger project about the 154 coming in the near future which will include many clips you all haven't got to witness yet. However, this is indeed the final weekend, so we have a longer video featuring wider angles.
*As unfortunate as it can be, 154 was not running right throughout the weekend due to a broken blastpipe. So for her final runs, she was being pushed by a diesel.
*Very fitting, the whistle that would ring out for 154's final runs is hers. Her 5" Crosby 3 chime would sing one more time on the locomotive it came off of all those years ago.
