Hey there! Need a little help on my LG Wing phone. A reply from your end would be great. I am having a few issues which I'm describing below :- 1) Recently I had an accident where my phone fell off my pocket and it bounced several times on the road. Thank God it still works but I can see a few cracks on my screen. These cracks are not as dark as they look when you damage the LCD of your phones screen. In my case they look very thin as if there was a thin layer of glass which was on top of the LCD that experienced these cracks( despite these cracks my phone's screen works perfectly fine). Plus a tiny piece of glass from the top left curved part is missing but I can still see the screen in that corner and it is also sensitive to my touch. So, can you please tell me what exactly happened to the screen of my phone? Because unlike your case my phone and it's screen is working fine. 2)The camera panel is slightly bumpy because of which the camera glass is having multiple scratches due to the friction that happened while putting it all these years on the table. And due to these scratches the photo quality of the camera has went down. So can this be replaced as well? Please help 🙏
@@moonlightsonata123 modern day screens are made up of multiple layers, in this case there’s a very thin OLED layer which produces the image and brightness, then there’s a super thin digitizer which is a kind of like a net that detects your finger and where it is. These two layers have a bit of flex to them. Finally you’ve got the glass itself, this is tempered glass which is very rigid and doesn’t allow for much flexibility. All of these are “fused” together using LOCA, Liquid-Optically-Clear-Adhesive. Sometimes when you drop a phone the impact is spread out across all these layers, causing all of them to fail. In your case it sounds like the impact transferred most of the kinetic energy through the rigid glass layer. This means that even though the glass layer is shattered, the others remain intact because they were able to flex enough to withstand the energy. It depends which camera. The rear lens is easily replaceable but the front is actually under the screen itself, meaning you’d need to replace the entire screen.
@@TapticDigital BTW, what should I try to look for online or offline if I want to repair the cracked screen of my phone? Can you please tell me the keyword to search?
Unfortunately they are correct, sort of. The glass needs to be removed from the frame in order to replace the proximity, in many cases this destroys the screen without proper tools.
I don't offer mail in repairs just yet, but the parts for the Wing are harder and harder to find since LG isn't in the phone business anymore. If you are able to find a shop who can get parts, you'd be looking somewhere around $250-$300
You can get the screen from MobileSentrix currently, almost no other vendor has them except eBay, and while I'd love to repair it I am based in the US so it may not be very economical to ship it.
Check out some local shops with decent reviews, unfortunately I don't offer mail in repairs just yet. If you're in the US, the last time I checked franchised stores like CPR or UBreakIFix are still able to get those parts and should be able to repair it.
I've got two Wings, one on AT&T and the other on TMO. I need to keep the TMO since I have a TMO plan, but my TMO phone got the green screen tonight. Can I just swap the motherboard from the TMO into the AT&T one and have it work perfectly, are there other proprietary things I need to swap over as well or is swapping the screen the only option...screen swapping looks far more complicated than swapping just the motherboard.
It sure is, MobileSentrix has them in stock but it does not include the stepper motor, so hopefully it's just the camera that's bad and not the moving parts.
@@TapticDigital Gotcha, the motor does appear to work, but the camera app fails when switching to the front camera. Doesn't seem to be a software issue. It took me a bit to figure out how the camera comes out. From just looking at it, it looks like the motor is connected to the camera, but the mechanism just hooks on over the top. Not actually too much work, and should be affordable for my customer, considering how much this phone costs.
@@braeicastellese4565 absolutely sounds like just camera module failing, I see it quite a bit in iPhones and Samsungs when they get damaged, based on your profile pic I'm guessing you see it quite a bit too 😉
I'm not sure what you mean, if the screen is green that is usually OLED damage. If you mean replacing just the glass without a display, that is very difficult without a lot of practice
Couple options, double-sided tape seems to work best. Especially if you combine it with Tape Primer. The other choice would be a non-conductive glue like B7000, though this seems to weaken if the phone gets hot. I would go for Tesa double sided tape in your case
Where did you purchase the main screen display at or from? Im looking to replace mine also but most of them come with the smaller screen and if only need the main one.
Hey! This part came from MobileSentrix, it's sold as just the display panel with nothing else so will likely be a bit cheaper. I'll go ahead and add a link to the description for you, make sure you pick the one for your model (US or International)
Most places in the US I've seen charge about $250 to replace the display, the parts cost roughly $100. If you are outside the US I unfortunately do not know of any suppliers or vendors for the parts.
@@harysviewty if you mean the V60 screen and the flip cover screen then yes they are identical parts and can be swapped, though both have the notch if I recall.
Maybe with the Velvet dual screen but those are harder to find. The Velvet had curved screens although I've never personally used the dual screen device
I don't offer mail-in repairs just yet! I'd check with local repair shops but unfortunately with LG shutting down their mobile department, parts are harder to find
What is it with people keep breaking the screen of that phone that's all I can see when I'm watching a video of this phone well I shouldn't be complaining I like the inside of it anyways
Question before I order the wrong parts or not enough. My screen exhibits either a green screen, not turning on and/or flickering and will exhibit brown/purple distortion and image ghosting the longer the screen stays in use. Only solution so far is cooling it down and then it's good until normal use and heat take over. Recently I've also cracked the bottom right corner since it landed on an area just barely missed by the case. I've got your link open for a replacement OLED assembly but I'm confused if that's all I'll need or if I also need to order a replacement screen as well. The "without frame replacement" is what's making me feel like I may need to order something else as well. I've taken phones apart in the past but I've never replaced the glass portion only and it don't have a hot plate I've seen people use during glass replacement so I was hopeful the OLED assmebly is everything I'll need to get a normally functioning phone again. www.reddit.com/r/LGWing/comments/10llorr/screen_coloring_issues/?
The colors are a result of the screen shorting out. I wouldn't advise a display only replacement unless you're used to doing them, it gets pretty messy if it shatters. If at all possible I'd get one with a frame, but it is doable with just the display and glass. You don't need a hot mat, you can get away with just a heatgun though it may take a few repeated passes.
@@TapticDigital Sorry I didn't mention it...the phone happened to slide off the hood of my car and now is cracked on the bottom right as well, so screen and glass are due for replacement. Is the link provided for a screen that's frame, display and glass all in one or do I even need all that?
@@M5JamesE39 the link is for the display and glass only, no frame. You'll end up carefully cutting the screen off the frame and gluing the new one back in place
I absolutely love this phone. No notch, pop up camera, desktop mode. I love that it works well with third party launchers.
This is my forever phone!
It's a piece of history now that LG has shut down its mobile division! Be extra careful with it, replacement part prices only go up from here!

If I buy a whole new front screen housing will the phone accept the new under screen fingerprint scanner? Or will I need to transfer it over?
The new panel has one already installed. It should continue working without a problem, though you may have to re-add the fingerprints.
Where could I buy the replacement glass and back panel both are broken. I am in Santa Ana California USA
I've found the display on Injured Gadgets, but the back panel may be something you'd have to source from Ali Express or eBay

What about the green screen with no display
