    Beautiful! Robbie, you just keep making it better and better! Loved Janey’s idea about the zinnias by the rooster. Robbie, have you considered getting a cord cover for the fan cord hanging down by your front door? You could then paint it so it would “go away.” Maybe a little something for Brent to do!😉

      Yes, Robbie's personality is phenomenal. I know that he has made a video about how he mispronounces words so that viewers comment and that he feels he has a poor education but wtf, Robbie is California with his lazy drawl, his "hey dude" persona, and his cheerful, passionate delivery about everything garden - Joanie is lucky to have him as a friend (and vice versa - both of them a dynamite on film - pure charisma).

    I live in Aotearoa/NZ, and that pittosporum is one of our native varieties -- kohuhu is a Māori word and in this way, the plant's original name. They also do great being trimmed into topiary shapes -- cones, squares, or rounds. Some varieties grow in more rounded/etc shapes, too, but do well with shaping. They're beautiful open and informal as you have htem, but can also be used in a very formal way. :)

  • @pegbert12
    @pegbert12 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That bush could be euonymus. Serrated leaves, little yellow flowers, grows occasional long wild branches and loves to be covered in powdery mildew. One of the staple bushes in older neighborhoods. You can prune it as much as you want; you can't kill it. I've tried.

    Great video. Just a word of caution from experience - before you 'sign up' for planting ivy, know what the drawbacks are. We planted it 30 years ago and are still battling what we hoped was gone. It's ruined the brick and mortar and is very capable of ruining other materials also. The vines still run throughout our lawn and it's a nightmare. OK - I'm done. I just couldn't not share our experience.

    Just a word of caution. Ivy can get into your plumbing and cause major damage. I speak from experience. Also, once you have it you will always have it. You have to keep pulling it out because it's so aggressive. I do not give it any water and I live a couple hrs from you, same heat. It still thrives.

    • @eileenchang2173
      @eileenchang2173 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I’m still pulling ivy that got into the mortar of my brick house that I pulled decades ago! I could tell that the previous owners planted fast growing plants including poplar trees which eventually have died but they were such a danger to the house as they kept on dropping clusters of branches and the roots also ruined the pipes which cost me thousands $$$$. 🇨🇦

    Very peaceful. Great job Robbie. Also with all that beauty that you have in your oasis, I was surprised to notice how you chose to make lemonade out of the lemony situation of a power pole that happened to fall in the middle of your garden bed, and painted it out like the fence to blend in. What an ingenious idea. I'm stealing that one, for sure. Thanks for the tour.

    I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than 100% out of money at this point! Loving the update tour! The Vitex is deciduous and won't leaf out until the end of May. In fact, you'll think it's dead. The one I have is a deep purple. It was a 2 gallon about a foot tall last year and this year it's 4' tall. It'll get to be 10-12' when it's full grown.

    There are amazing liquid drops you can put in your fountains to keep it clear of algae. It's called Fountec algaecide clarifier. Safe for the plants, birds and wild life. You CANNOT use if there are fish in the water... Anyway it works soooo good. Thank you for your awesome videos. You and Robbie are adorable! 🙂

    OK, so I don't think the wooden cages are a fail. I really like the look. I think if you used narrower side slats it wouldn't look as off (because wood these days is crooked no matter what OMG!) Honestly, I think they're great and I hope you give them another try. And film it for us so we can learn.

The Vitex or Texas Chase as we know them in Texas has a scent that we do not like. when we pruine them back. We love the flowers on it. We have several in our one acre property. We would love to gift you a seedling if we could sent it to you from Copper Canyon, Tx. Keep up the great work!

My home has honeysuckle suckle that line 3 sides and it has never spread past the fence line and I don’t cut it back! Fills up the whole yard with wonderful pollinators and that signature honeysuckle scent. We have so much I want to make perfume haha. If there is something that you want in your garden just check and see if there are noninvasive species. We have nurseries that do sell honeysuckle!
