I have 2 Guinea pigs and I am 9 and they have a great cage size and my mum helps me a lot as-well and they used to have a small cage but when I found yours and Autumn’s Chanel we have upgraded there cage and I think that they are much happier now.😊
My guinea pig recently passed from an illness that never was able to get diagnosed. I spent over $1500 trying to figure it out, but we ended up having to put him to sleep because we couldn't figure it out. Having a steady income is definitely important for owning piggies!
Thank you for using your platform to reiterate to people that guinea pigs ARE expensive pets and you more than likely will need to bring them to the vet at some stage in their lives. It's important to be aware before being one into your home!
I spent well over a thousand dollars over 6 months or so on vet visits for my very first pig due to persistent respiratory issues that later turned out to be an extremely aggressive lung tumor. Guinea pigs are 100% NOT for someone without a steady income or children. I ended up losing him in September of last year😞
I had 9 Guinea pigs at one time, some of them died of age or sickness and this is true!!!! Vet bills for an “exotic pet” are ridiculously expensive. I only have 5 now, but when they gone, I’m done. I love them but no more Guinea pigs for me.
@@Thiagor0405 I’m on the same page with you 100% I have 7 now , have lost 4 over the last 3 years after spending a lot on each of them for treatments that failed so no more piggies for me after these 7
I have never had that much anxiety and stress in my life before I got piggies … being on constant watch, dropping everything and run to the vet , going through syringe feedings, expenses and so on … that is a lot , very high maintenance pets!!!! Do not encourage to have more that 2 or 3
I recently just got guinea pigs and don’t worry my parents help me to but I’ve researched for over 2 years and you’ve taught me so much and how to take care of them!
It’s great you did the research first! I think it’s awesome to have pets as children! It teaches kiddos how to be caring and compassionate. It also teaches them how to be kind to animals and responsibility if the parents are there to guide the way! My daughter helps me feed and clean up after her pigs everyday. I would never expect her to know everything or care for them on her own but I feel like it’s my job as an animal lover to teach her how to be a responsible pet owner.
I just wanted to say how amazing both you and your parents are! Doing research before getting a pet so you fully understand their needs and your responsibilities toward them is the very best start to pet ownership. Having parents willing to offer financial, physical and emotional support as you embark on the adventure that piggies bring to your is fantastic and kudos to them for being awesome people. 🤘🏻😊💕
I agree with what you said 100% my mother got me a Guinea pig when I was 15 and a rabbit when I was 10 from a pet store they both came with a small cage water bottle and paper bedding as I got older and was around 19 I realized rabbits should be free roaming and using a water bowl and Guinea pigs also need more space and neither should have salt chews but I feel sad at times knowing I had them living in the wrong conditions for so long before
I’m almost 11. I have a 5x2 cage(I’m making it 5x3) for 2 Guinea pigs. They have full, clean water, hay, pellets, and treats 24 7. They have 4 hideouts and 5 chews. PI wouldn’t say I have the best care ever but it’s better than some.
I was able to help someone with her pig. She ended up getting her job back to take him to the vet, diagnosed with either heart failure or chronic respiratory issues. Pig isn't sick but won't live as long as most. She was using bedding from Peavy mart which had cedar in it. She's already changed from that to fleece, will change the diet and give him more exercise. Monday, I'm rescuing an elder lady pig. The owner is awesome but is in what she describes as a bad situation for Pepper. I'm trying to help as many people as possible learn the best care for their piggies and not have to rehome them. I can only take this one more piggy. You inspired me to help. I posted an ad on kijiji. Have helped a few and am adopting one. I LOVE Saskia's videos too! Between you two and Squeak Dreams, I never have to look further for info!
For your website I have a suggestion! So recently I found out I was deathly allergic to Timothy hay, and almost every other type of hay. Luckily I found one that I can be around that the pigs can eat (oat hay) so my suggestion is to sell different types of hay! (Ex: oat, orchard, etc ) I know I’m not the only one who is allergic so it’d be so awesome if you sold different types for the pigs and people allergic to Timothy!!
I have been wanting to do the whole "lifting of the ground by one grid" thing for my herd (I only have 4 girlies in a 5 by 2 with a 3 by 2 kitchen area, so no stackable cages here by still...) for a while now so this video was actually so helpful to see how someone did it.
Jojo is PRECIOUS!!! I never saw him, he's BEAUTIFUL! I have a teddy guinea pig as well, grey and white agouti. I bought a box of your Timothy hay, I'm now OBSESSED WITH IT!! I believe I commented about selling a larger amount, only because I have 5 piggies, and I'm generous with their hay, they LOVE sleeping in it as well, and burrowing, so I go through alot. I have the same pet carrier as you, the purple one, only mine is pink, and my vet does the same thing taping the name on the front, lol! I clicked on the video because I want to click the link to your shop to get more hay, and Timothy straws!
Hello, I am new to your channel. About a month ago I brought three baby guinea pigs, they are about two months old. Their names a Peek-a-boo is a black and white long hair piggy, Sweetie-pie is a brown and white short hair piggy and Cuppy-cake is a brown, white and black long hair piggy. I am almost finished building their c&c cage. they will be moving out of their condo and into their Castle very soon. I just wanted to say hi and to let you know that I love all your videos, they have been very helpful in getting to know how to care for my three little babies.
Hi I have recently been checking out your channel. Had a question for you. I am no guinea pig expert by any means but our family had had guinea pigs in the past and they were very well cared for and lived a long life. Recently rescued a pig from a family that severely abused the poor guy. It was a sad situation. Just wondering some ideas to get him to come around a bit more as far as being trustworthy towards humans again. He is very skidish and weeks every time you try to go near him or touch him. He has been checked by a vet a given a clean bill of health, but you can tell the previous owners children were abusive to the poor guy. Thanks for your help!!
You said that you’re sure Winston would escape. Does that mean when he’s bonded they will have to be in a bottom cage? Can’t wait and hope it goes well!
Hello :) I was wondering where you got those liners/ blankets they are so cute? I’m doing research on piggies and just wondering if they are just normal blankets or something else, do I need to put anything under the blanket ? Like a doggie pee pad ? Thank you in advance x
I've had my girls just over two years and luckily so far the only thing they have had is lice and my one girl has occasional soft poops. I started giving her probiotics every day so hopefully that will help. I guess I've been super lucky!
as a child (14) im soon planning on adopting some pigs! i kow alot of people vear away from reccomeding pigs as kid pets but animals are my hobby, special interest the whole thing. i currently own a hamster, and i make him salads every few days and i am currently renovating one of those really bad guinea pig pet store cages (we ony have it because my paresnts had pigs when i was a baby, the mainly stayed in a hutch and came in in winter) for my hamster so he doesnt climb through the bars! my piggies are going to live in a c&c cage in a spare room in my house (same room as my hamster) and im so so so so ready and exited and educated and well versed in pigs. when i first told my paresnts i wantd them inside they were like hell no but i said. 'if we can provide the best care for them, then thats what we should do and if you dont agree i see no point having them. i want them to be part of the family, not some trinket to play with once in a while. if i didnt care about their helth and only the plesure i would get from them then i would say chuck them in a cage, but the part im most exited for is doing something productive in my time and take care of a living breathing animal' then i did some sympathy tears and they said yes xoxo
How can you tell which one is sneezing? I have four and can never tell which one sneezes, I’m concerned because I can’t pin point it and I’m worried it’s a respiratory issue. How can I go about finding out which one is sneezing??
Ginnie pigs definitely need a lot if dedication, time and money I so agree with you Austin. My darling Piggie Bumble cost me well over 1000 UK pounds before she sadly crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge. Rest in peace darling girl 💓. Thanks for being such a good advocate for these beautiful animals 🐹🐹🐹🐹🐹🌈🌈🌈🌈💓💓💓
Omg the grids I had in my Amazon cart was 63 dollars for 36 grids I thought it was the cheapest I could find but when I searched what grids you were getting now I know I could save 59 dollars if I just bought the grids your using thanks!! ❤️❤️❤️
I bought a stethoscope and if I hear a sneeze then I listen to see if I need to make a vet visit. No animal is a beginners pet. Keeping them healthy and happy.
I'm in the process of geting my pigs new cage and I was wondering where u get your chloroplast? And I wanna get get a third pig cuz mine don't get along and I wanted a third one to be with one of mine that are used to other guinea pigs, idk if I will be able too
Aww, sorry about that, maybe later on, you can get some rescue ones. I do rescue guinea pigs in the UK, and they are very cute. You will be able to have some one day.
We’ll put Austin!! I’m going through a bit of a rough time right now, so I get it happens! BUT I was willing to surrender my girl last week when she got bloat & luckily I caught it super early on so I was able to treat it at home. With that though, not everything can be treated at home y’all!! 😭 I had a savings account for when they needed to go as well as care credit for pets. I recently lost my job (not my fault actually, I had Covid but miscommunication & the fact my old work doesn’t give a crap, so. It happens I guess! Lol) so I haven’t been able to pay up my care credit, so I was more than willing because that is what SHE would’ve needed, not what I WANTED!! 🥺 luckily I start my new job next week, so first thing I’m focusing on is all my bills including my care credit, getting that paid off & starting a savings account again!! Anyone reading this, child or not, do what is best for your fur baby!! It sucks, but that’s what you sign up for is making sure they’re taken care of ABOVE WHAT YOU WANT!! I’m sorry to put that so bluntly, but… that’s life! Sucks some days, others are amazing! Edit to add!: the reason my care credit was maxed was because I was told the two piggies were healthy. Well… one had a URI, both had bumblefoot & long nails. One of them had nails so long they were curling over & pressing into his already swollen paw pads 😭 & I’m not asking for sympathy OR money!! My pigs are healthy atm knock on wood! & like I said, I start my new job next week so everything is going to be okay & be back to normal! 💖 just felt the need to add that before I get attacked bc I 100% will surrender if needed, but it’s really not we will all be okay! 🥰
Also ( & I promise I’m not being weird 😂) how tall are you Austin? I’m asking bc my cage is 3 grids high & I was wanting to move it to 4 grids high in the next few weeks bc a week before I lost my job, I rescued 2 piggies & they didn’t get along with mine. What I ended up doing was bottom level is storage, 2nd is the rescue‘a cage 2x4 & my herd is in a 2x6 on top. The only reason I wanted to upgrade is to provide another grid height? Lol to the rescue’s cage so it’s not so dark (even with fairy lights 😖) sorry for the long comments, I hope you see them & can lmk 😅

When my pigs got older they stop drinking from the bottle the water and now they drink from a bowl tiny one for them
