Hello Veronika, I liked this kind of lesson..In Georgia we learn British English at my school but we mainly focus on grammar and pronunciation (from time to time). we don't give much importance to accents because we need written English for exams :D

That seems like a very tough task to be good at both accents. I am on a lifelong journey to get good at French and here you have a choice (among others) of say Parisian French vs Québécois French. It would wrap my brain in knots to try to keep both accents in my head and to switch between them. But having said that - if anyone could pull this off it would be you!

VERONIKA I really don't recommend, mixing accents! I'm a native English speaker and English Italki tutor.
It will lead to dissonance in either country and pretty much any place....you'll also use words that are "wrong" in BOTH places.....because you will mix up words and idioms!

Hi guys! Greeting from South Korea~
I partially agree that American accent is easier to follow than British accent as Veronica has mentioned in that video.
But I think Australian accent could be easier to follow than both Brit accent and American accent too. Because Brit accent could be hard to follow in terms of pronouncing T and D sound clearly and American accent could be hard to follow in terms of pronouncing rhotic R sound. In my country, people usually learn and use American English however, regardless of this fact, some Korean people are kind of struggled with following rhotic R sound of American accent because in Korean language there isn't R sound of English. I actually have been to the Philippines to learn English before and Filipino people usually learn and use American English like Korean people. However, as I asked something to Filipino people with American accent, some of them couldn't understand well because I didn't pronounce T and D sound clearly like Brit accent. After that, I realised that I need to use both clear T sound of Brit accent and flapping T sound of American accent moderately. Australian people use both clear T sound to a stressed T and flapping T sound to an unstressed T and they drop rhotic R sound like Brit accent. This is why I think that Aussie accent could be easier to follow.
Thank you for reading my long comment~!
It is just my opinion so just choose what you really want~
I like your accent too Veronica so be confident when you speak English~~!!

We learn British English in Czech Republic, too. I don't like it that's why I decided to start studying American English and nowdays I speak more American but I'm still crashed by British English. I mean some grammar rules I say At school, I use tenses according to British English and some other rules. I have British teacher at school and I guess he doesn't like my accent and I feel embarrasing when I talk to him. I have a huge problem to understand native British speakers because they have different rythm, don't pronunce some letters and speak too fast. Then I have a feeling I can't hear what they say. I don't like British accent, British people, their mentality and their embarrasing humor. If I watch these things about US or Cannada I feel more comfortable with them.

Well, first of all... I think British people have no sense of humour... I love you, British peeps, but you're not that funny as you think you are, hahaha. So I'm from Poland, in theory they teach us British English in schools, but they always have kinda American accent... like Polish-American if it makes sense.
I personally prefer British accent, American accent just annoys me, I don't know why, this R sound just driving me crazy. But I think I mix a lot of accents all the time, maybe because I'm not that fluent and confident during speaking English. But people understand me, so I really don't think about my accent. I know that sometimes I sound weird, because I can pronounce one word in, for example, three different ways, saying it 3 times through 5 minutes - every time in different way. But I don't really care as long as everyone can understand me.
Funny thing - I sing a little bit, and during singing I try to sound more American, I care about this R sound, because I don't like how I sound like singing with British accent hahah

I’ve been learning to switch accents by speaking like a Brit too. So far I’ve noticed the main difference lies in vowels phonetics. Examples, the short /i/ sound in GB accent sounds more apparent than American accents due to its vowel reduction; the o sound yes in some parts of America can sound like a long /a:/ sound yet in northeastern states like New York, Connecticut etc still sounds like o instead. Also in words starting with pro- such as “prolong” “ procrastinate” Americans tend to say /prou/- instead of pr+a schwa sound as it sounds to me. Thoughts?
