I know this area better than you though. My house was down the street in City of Plum Grove within walking distance from 2 of the Colony Ridge subdivisions. I lived there since 1987 actually, bought my house there in 1994, watched it flood 4 times in barely 2 years after the Camino Real subdivision was "developed" by Colony Ridge right up the road from my driveway. Ever wondered how great it is to watch all your stuff floating around inside your house in sewage contaminated storm-water run-off? I still have nightmares about it. I literally could not gut and rebuild the house fast enough to beat the next rain! And each time my house was flooded, just days before we had been under a country burn ban due to drought.... and yet their storm-water run-off was so intense that it came right back into my house again and again and again! 😞

Colony Ridge isn't a "town" at all, it's just a bunch of commercial subdivisions with an MMD granted by the State Legislature under Earnest Bailes leadership to one of the developers (so he taxes his customer base to make even more money under that MMD apparently; the developer has full control over his MMD and the tax money it collects), in spite of the fact that an MMD is supposed to be for Municipalities such as incorporated cities (such as the City of Plum Grove, who has no such MMD). Yep. 48,000+ gallons of black raw sewage flowed thru my back yard from their Camino Real in 2019, the flow went all the way down the little Maple Branch past the city of Plum Grove city hall building and all the way to Plum Grove Rd. TCEQ documented it, collected 30 or so dead animals along the branch (mostly fish of various species), then slapped them with a tiny ~$5K fine with credits for them cleaning it all up (which they only got a percentage of the stuff, a lot of it had already soaked into the bottom and sides of the little branch imho). Last I heard, Quadvest the sewage contractor for Colony Ridge, still wasn't paying the small fine even. smh! You live a few short miles away, I lived about a 2 minute walk away from Camino Real and Monte Bello (two of the Colony Ridge subdivisions built right next to my neighborhood in Plum Grove). So why is it Jay Knight and his Commissioners Court always approve any and every thing that Colony Ridge puts before them without hesitation? The county has Rules for New Subdivision Development that Colony Ridge has been in constant violation of for over 6 years now, yet Jay Knight refuses to enforce those rules and thus Colony Ridge has been destroying everything about the little City of Plum Grove with their horrendous storm-water drainage systems that flood the city regularly these days? The City of Plum Grove is not affiliated in any way with Colony Ridge! In fact we have been fighting and complaining LOUDLY for over 6 years about this mess but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Colony Ridge sued the City of Plum Grove in 2015 and as part of a settlement (the city had no funds to fight it out in court) Colony Ridge demanded basically all of their lands be removed from the city's limits, effectively shrinking the city. Also as part of the settlement the city had to agree to a 45 year moratorium against any future city taxes being applied to those Colony Ridge properties, so as to be certain to hobble the city financially so the city wouldn't be able to do much legally in the future nor even maintain our roadways which Colony Ridge used and abused to the hilt!

Unincorporated. As I understand this is mostly former timber land outside any city limits, the county commissioners/judges are complicit in this developing.
The developers sued the City of Plum Grove back in 2015 to get all their lands out of the city limits, and the city not having the funds to fight that lawsuit capitulated and gave the developer everything he demanded and then some. It is in fact amazing to me to search Liberty County court records and see the number of times Colony Ridge has sued the little City of Plum Grove and it's mayor and council people... it's absurd in fact! Even when the city didn't approve a permit (on the recommendation of the city engineer) that Colony Ridge wanted, they just turned around and filed suit against the city to force the city to approve their permit against the advise of the city engineer! That's how Colony Ridge operates though, and how they've gotten away with so much for so very long. But notice if you search for their lawsuits, Colony Ridge has not once sued Liberty County... the county leaders approve anything and everything Colony Ridge asks them for without question! Wonder why? 😕

They are being employed in all sorts of off-the-books odd-jobs. The Mexican National mass shooter from last spring who had been deported multiple times was working as a "handyman" for anybody who would pay him cash around here. I have a relative who was providing room and board and a bit of cash every week to take care of horses.... till he caused a bad accident (without insurance of course, in his own vehicle even though he didn't have a driver's license) and he fled the area to avoid deportation. I was behind a hispanic woman who spoke no English in the Cleveland Walmart one day, she had like 20 gallons of milk I kid you not... and she checked out with a Lone Star Card (SNAP benefits). I called my city mayor and asked what the heck are they doing with so much milk at one time, she told me they are taking it and selling it on street corners for twice the price in Colony Ridge. I was like, Ohhh... ok I see how that works then. Of course we all paid for that milk, and the entire dairy isle at Cleveland Walmart is almost always empty when I go in there these days it suxs and they should put a stop to that! I mean, it's just that simple for them to find work doing odd jobs that frankly I did as a teen and should be the responsibility of our teens today mowing lawns feeding and caring for cattle fixing fences and the like! As a former flight attendant, I've traveled to many third world countries, and am VERY familiar with that smell that he describes. I know this area better than you though. My house was down the street in City of Plum Grove within walking distance from 2 of the Colony Ridge subdivisions. I lived there since 1987 actually, bought my house there in 1994, watched it flood 4 times in barely 2 years after the Camino Real subdivision was "developed" by Colony Ridge right up the road from my driveway. Ever wondered how great it is to watch all your stuff floating around inside your house in sewage contaminated storm-water run-off? I still have nightmares about it. I literally could not gut and rebuild the house fast enough to beat the next rain! And each time my house was flooded, just days before we had been under a country burn ban due to drought.... and yet their storm-water run-off was so intense that it came right back into my house again and again and again! 😞

Yep. 48,000+ gallons of black raw sewage flowed thru my back yard from their Camino Real in 2019, the flow went all the way down the little Maple Branch past the city of Plum Grove city hall building and all the way to Plum Grove Rd. TCEQ documented it, collected 30 or so dead animals along the branch (mostly fish of various species), then slapped them with a tiny ~$5K fine with credits for them cleaning it all up (which they only got a percentage of the stuff, a lot of it had already soaked into the bottom and sides of the little branch imho). Last I heard, Quadvest the sewage contractor for Colony Ridge, still wasn't paying the small fine even. smh! You live a few short miles away, I lived about a 2 minute walk away from Camino Real and Monte Bello (two of the Colony Ridge subdivisions built right next to my neighborhood in Plum Grove). So why is it Jay Knight and his Commissioners Court always approve any and every thing that Colony Ridge puts before them without hesitation? The county has Rules for New Subdivision Development that Colony Ridge has been in constant violation of for over 6 years now, yet Jay Knight refuses to enforce those rules and thus Colony Ridge has been destroying everything about the little City of Plum Grove with their horrendous storm-water drainage systems that flood the city regularly these days? What did they pay Jay Knight off with??? I wonder..... 😕

Nah, the State of Texas just approved some $40 million for some DPS offices/officers to be put into Colony Ridge. The state would rather throw more money at the developers than do anything to stop or actually fix this mess here in Liberty County. And Colony Ridge is expanding I'm told, buying up large tracts of land for development in San Jacinto County and Tarkington Prairie. Pretty soon they'll be everywhere, Colony Ridge and copy cat developers will be building just this sort of thing near where YOU live and then you too will learn how amazing it is to live next to one of these things! The City of Plum Grove is not affiliated in any way with Colony Ridge! In fact we have been fighting and complaining LOUDLY for over 6 years about this mess but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Colony Ridge sued the City of Plum Grove in 2015 and as part of a settlement (the city had no funds to fight it out in court) Colony Ridge demanded basically all of their lands be removed from the city's limits, effectively shrinking the city. Also as part of the settlement the city had to agree to a 45 year moratorium against any future city taxes being applied to those Colony Ridge properties, so as to be certain to hobble the city financially so the city wouldn't be able to do much legally in the future nor even maintain our roadways which Colony Ridge used and abused to the hilt!

Unincorporated. As I understand this is mostly former timber land outside any city limits, the county commissioners/judges are complicit in this developing.
The developers sued the City of Plum Grove back in 2015 to get all their lands out of the city limits, and the city not having the funds to fight that lawsuit capitulated and gave the developer everything he demanded and then some. It is in fact amazing to me to search Liberty County court records and see the number of times Colony Ridge has sued the little City of Plum Grove and it's mayor and council people... it's absurd in fact! Even when the city didn't approve a permit (on the recommendation of the city engineer) that Colony Ridge wanted, they just turned around and filed suit against the city to force the city to approve their permit against the advise of the city engineer! That's how Colony Ridge operates though, and how they've gotten away with so much for so very long. But notice if you search for their lawsuits, Colony Ridge has not once sued Liberty County... the county leaders approve anything and everything Colony Ridge asks them for without question! Wonder why? 😕

If I'm a customer at say El Burrito Mexican Restaurant in Cleveland or Livingston, then I have no real issue with the staff being bi-lingual and speaking Spanish in the kitchen or whatever, but in a Cajun restaurant that irks me! btw, I highly recommend dining at El Burrito in Cleveland or Livingston their food is great the places are always clean and the staff is very courteous... just saying!

They are being employed in all sorts of off-the-books odd-jobs. The Mexican National mass shooter from last spring who had been deported multiple times was working as a "handyman" for anybody who would pay him cash around here. I have a relative who was providing room and board and a bit of cash every week to take care of horses.... till he caused a bad accident (without insurance of course, in his own vehicle even though he didn't have a driver's license) and he fled the area to avoid deportation. I was behind a hispanic woman who spoke no English in the Cleveland Walmart one day, she had like 20 gallons of milk I kid you not... and she checked out with a Lone Star Card (SNAP benefits). I called my city mayor and asked what the heck are they doing with so much milk at one time, she told me they are taking it and selling it on street corners for twice the price in Colony Ridge. I was like, Ohhh... ok I see how that works then. Of course we all paid for that milk, and the entire dairy isle at Cleveland Walmart is almost always empty when I go in there these days it suxs and they should put a stop to that!
I mean, it's just that simple for them to find work doing odd jobs that frankly I did as a teen and should be the responsibility of our teens today mowing lawns feeding and caring for cattle fixing fences and the like! Now our teens just sit around doing drugs and watching Tik-Toc videos I guess. We have a serious problem with our society in general I fear! As a teenager I bailed hay every summer, harvested corn fields, harvested pecan trees, split firewood, fed the cattle, fixed fences and got top grades in school! What do teens do today?

Exactly, only it's being marketed to a specific ethnic group that has a high percentage in the country illegally and who the developer counts on to miss a payment so that they can repossess the property (with any improvements that were made on it) and then resell it at an even higher price to someone else of that same ethnic group who is likely to also miss a payment... wash, rinse and repeat. I have looked at the Liberty County CAD website many of those Colony Ridge lots have been sold and returned to Colony Ridge and sold again and returned to Colony Ridge again and sold again up to 7 times in some instances! It's insane that this is a large part of their business model! And it's the reason the DOJ is suing Colony Ridge now finally.... never mind all the flooding and engineering violations that have been going on in the Colony Ridge developments from day 1 of their "developing of their land". My biggest fear right now is that the DOJ will get a huge settlement for all those hispanic lot owners who lost their lots to foreclosure when they missed a payment (we're talking thousands of hispanics potentially), wiping out Colony Ridge's assets, and those of us who have had their sewage and storm-water run-off flowing thru out yards and into our homes even... we will be left to rot basically because hey we're "too white" I guess. Colony Ridge has caused a lot of harm to many of us who lived here for decades, but that doesn't matter I guess because we are just "a bunch of racists who don't like brown people" according to the Harris brothers (and I guess nobody cares if our lives have been ruined by Colony Ridge as such, idk). 😞

I agree because I know many undocumented purchasing homes and not filling taxes for the wages they earn but are taking advantage of what this country and taxpayers pay of their services because they have children born in the USA!
I just wish they obey the laws and raise their children to be good citizens of the USA and not just breed them for the benefits that they will allot them to have as USA citizens!!!

As a former flight attendant, I've traveled to many third world countries, and am VERY familiar with that smell that he describes. The trashed out, bombed out neighborhoods abut the luxurious resorts, so one must stay on campus, on a vacation, due to the crime. I just cannot conceive of the fact that our country is allowing this to happen.
Well, Mexico learned from it's mistake. They allowed Americans to own land in Mexico pre-1848 and the Americans ended up out numbering the Mexicans. When the Mexicans banned slavery it started revolts. We act like the Mexicans are foreigners but they've been in the Untied States 100 years before an Anglo set foot on America. I'm and American but I refuse to ignore history. We cannot make the same mistake as what Mexico did by allowing foreigners to own land. You can Google what I've posted, it's part of our history.
