Still one of the best irons Mizuno ever made. Absolutely loved the set I owned from new. Along with the T-Zoid titanium driver and fairways. Honestly, if Mizuno was to release a model based on the original styling but with some of their modern technology I would switch from my Callaways in a heart beat. Thanks for the retro review Alex 👍
I still game these once a month. My buddies and I go out once a month with our clubs from high school and play a skins game. I do wish I had the 2 iron though.... so freaking awesome!
My first set of blades loved them and the 2 iron, was 30 years old smoked it 250 laser, traded them for mp33s still have them in the sim. Never found the happiness I had in the T-zoid Trues. Fun to watch. Like to have heard your opinion of them compared to others.
I still play with a set of these today, I have a spare set never been used in my storage when my mains wear out, you will never feel any irons like these, the best way to describe the softness and feel you get from them as follows... when you hit the 2 Iron with a prov 1, it feels like you are hitting a yellow foam ball... yeah that good and soft feeling no exaggeration.
My son just gave me a set of T-Zoids (3 - PW). I’ve played blades back in the day, but not recently. Gonna be fun trying to dial them in. They’re great-looking irons though.
I'm still playing the 1996 t-zoid pros. 2i through pw. To be honest, I've had the faces redone a few times. I've regripped them almost every year. These were the same irons Nick Price used way back when. Lots of people ask why I haven't upgraded. I say simply, I haven't found anything that feels better. Are there better clubs or there for me, of course. I just haven't found them yet. Mind you, I'm so pleased with these that I'm not looking very hard. As many who have played mizuno clubs will tell you, they teach you how to be a better golfer. If you hit anywhere but the centre, you know it. After a short while you can tell where you missed it. I've played enough modern game improvement irons to know that they might be long but they feel numb. For now, I'll stick with my old sticks. Thanks, Al, for the review.
I had T-Zoid Pro's for the past 8 years... they were a hand-me-down set. I loved them. The feel (once you get the tempo/swing down) was amazing. I recently upgraded to the JPX 921 only because I wanted to buy my first brand new set of irons. I had no issues with the T-Zoids... just knew it was time to get something that was made this century. The transition to the new irons was seamless. The new irons are a little bit lighter, but the feel is just as good.
I am still playing golf in this set.. and yes i am old. i have bought and tried new sets, but this is still the best. the feel is exceptional. maybe i will try the new JPX tour soon, but i am not hopeful.
You played well with those old irons. I like playing old irons, they push you to keep your game tight. I play the old Yonex ADX Tour Forged irons with LTB600 Graphite shaft stiff (2-LW with 10 iron) similar to the ones Phil gamed in the late 90's when he was sponsored by Yonex. Love them.
Something that might be interesting to those unfamiliar with the retro clubs you review would be a side by side shot of the retro club and its modern day equivalent. For example, if you had an MP20 or a JPX to show beside the T-zoid it would provide perspective on just how much smaller (and sharper) the T-zoid is. Definitely keep the 9 hole round with the retros.
TWENTY-ONE YEARS I gamed those irons, 2-pw, from 1998-2019! I hit dozens of others in that time. I hit irons AS nice as them, but none better to make me want to switch! I love you did this vid! Ken Goff (yes, that's my real name)!
I have this exact set in 2-PW. Need some shafts and grips but the heads are in excellent condition for their age. Gamed them for a long time before I got the Hogan Icon earlier this year. Both are amazing clubs.
Great review, can you find any of the old Australian blades from Carnegie Clark Tournament Blades,PGF or even Dunlop Australian Blades. Maybe even the Prosimmon models that Peter Senior used to play?
I really hope that you’re hit the 3000 mark and I hope that you will dress as they did back in the 90s that will really be something thank you for the good contents I absolutely love it
The most entertaining and watchable golfer on TH-cam.....how has the Shiels fella got over a million subscribers and Al got less than 50k? ...its just the madness on the streets !
I've had a couple sets of Mizuno's but the Tzoid Pro's are by far my favorite. I use Titleist now but have been thinking of getting another set of Tzoid Pro's. Great video. A side by side review of new Mizuno's to the older set I would love to see.
Good to hear this, I recently found some T-Zoid Pros in my storage unit. They were my dads, I just re-gripped them and thinking about hitting them at the range.
i have the t zoid sure irons in my bag. an older gentleman was getting rid of his and his wife's golf clubs. $60. my sister bought them so they were free to me!
Still using the set I bought back in 99 or 2000....... yet to hit another iron that has the same feel. Kicking myself I didn't grab the optional 1 iron at the time of purchase
Love these irons. I bought a mint set from 2nd swing earlier this year to play around with while visiting my parents back in the states. 2-PW and they were fantastic...when I stuck a shot. Shafts were to heavy for me, S400, but I had to grab them because they were literally in hit. They are still there at my parents house waiting for my return. Love my Blueprints though.
I had a set of those bad boys!! Changed them for a set of MP32's which I still have in the bag now. They're in better nick than those T Zoids. Maybe your next retro review?
Al, I have a set of Taylormade Tour Preferred Irons, freshly regripped, 3-SW. Circa 1988-89?! They would make a great retro review. I don't use them. They are just sitting here at my house.
@@HarryBase63 That's how I feel. I never gesture my ball, for that very reason. Always just seemed to make things worse, somehow. Sometimes I can talk to it, and it might listen. But never a gesture.
What's wrong with the sand wedge? I'm no wedge expert, but I have a set of new old stock T-Zoid Pros 3-SW stiff graphite (1996) from Japan (they say Power Blade on the back lol) that I just got last summer on eBay, and they are the most consistent softest feeling irons in the sweet spot I have ever hit. I haven't really noticed any difference in the F wedge or S wedge from my old 588's.
Why do I feel like I need to make some toast while I’m watching this video? I guess I need to grab the butter cause I can use those irons to spread that butter on my toast!
I'd rather have sent you my daughters than any of my mizuno clubs... They looked fabulous they must surely be refurbed 👍 You hole out great... Virtually 😀
I still have my set of tommy armour 845s from high school. 1998. I also have a practically new set that i bought last year. New, old stock. Used them for about 3 rounds. If anyone is looking. Lol
Watching "Retro Reviews" and seeing these gorgeous 1999 Mizuno Irons.
*Cries looking at my 1975 Ping Karsten II irons*
"No wear marks in the centre. Hosel?"
Brilliant!
Had a set of these in the 80s, my teeth are still loose!

I still use tzoid 5 wood. There is no real reason to change with the new shaft.
I still game these once a month. My buddies and I go out once a month with our clubs from high school and play a skins game. I do wish I had the 2 iron though.... so freaking awesome!

Bought a set of these on Ebay last year and love gaming them. Off center strikes suck in the cold but pure strikes feel like butter
Great video. Loved how fast the 9 holes went. Would like to see more of these.

I have a set of Maruman sole Conductor 31CX blades which I still use! Check out how old they are. Oh, and by the way, they are left handed.
My son just gave me a set of T-Zoids (3 - PW). I’ve played blades back in the day, but not recently. Gonna be fun trying to dial them in. They’re great-looking irons though.
Yeah, I played this set at least 7 years. No help. No corrections. But when you hit is square it was amazing. My favorite irons ever.

Thanks for sharing, this is really useful. I have been reluctant to move away from the T-Zoids Pro.

I love mine and they love me back.

Angelic chorus: WHOA LIVIN ON A PRAYER

I had the Comp-EZ's. I always wanted those True's but knew I would not be able to hit them. I have the Mizzy MX-11 now and still use them.
I still have my Comp-EZs. I’m not changing them any time soon...
I bought these new and played them for about 10 years. Loved them. Resurrected them from the basement and now my son is using them. Still great clubs
Me full set T Zoid Pro irons including Driver / 3 wood / Sand / pitch / 9 to 1 clubs bought 1999 and still use them.
I really liked the 9 holes. I'm in the off-season, can't even practice right now so stuff like this lets me get some semblance of golf in my life
I had a set of a T-Zoid True. They were a great set of irons. I was not in love the offset on the pitching wedge but otherwise great set of irons.
I have this exact set in 2-PW. Need some shafts and grips but the heads are in excellent condition for their age. Gamed them for a long time before I got the Hogan Icon earlier this year. Both are amazing clubs.
Gorgeous irons, I was born 3-19-1999 so go 90s. Great job Al, God bless you sir
Some ten years after ( ! ) cobra did the pro mb. Looks like they had the Tzoid as their inspiration.
I'm surprised you didn't slice your hands open on those razor-sharp top lines! Good to see the Zoids getting the love they deserve!
Maybe in the future he can get ahold of the tzoid woods as well

Still in my bag. Love them.
I had the MP-14s, MP-29s and T-Zoids. All good clubs, but the 14s were always my favorites. I still have MP-14 1 iron!
I have a virtually unhit set of these arriving thursday or friday. Cannot wait!
My first set of blades. Coming from Ping ISI Copper, hard to hit the sweet spot but oh boy...when hit pure they were wonderful.
I loved the 9 hole chALlenge! It should be something you should incorporate regularly into some reviews!
I dream of playing indoor golf on that screen, so I enjoy watching you play rounds on there a lot!
Yes!!! Used to have a T-Zoid driver when playing in college. Loved the ball flight...lasers. 👍👍💯
The most entertaining and watchable golfer on TH-cam.....how has the Shiels fella got over a million subscribers and Al got less than 50k? ...its just the madness on the streets !
It's not who is the best but algorithmic best.
you've hit 3k!! Let's see it on the course!!
I've had a couple sets of Mizuno's but the Tzoid Pro's are by far my favorite. I use Titleist now but have been thinking of getting another set of Tzoid Pro's. Great video. A side by side review of new Mizuno's to the older set I would love to see.

i have the t zoid sure irons in my bag. an older gentleman was getting rid of his and his wife's golf clubs. $60. my sister bought them so they were free to me!
Fantastic video AL! Loved the format for this one. Hope to see you do it outside!
I found a T-Zoid True 1 iron a few weeks ago for only $5 at the local Par 3 course...it's ridiculous but looks amazing!
Liked the 9 holes. Good looking pancake flipper there as well.
Still using the set I bought back in 99 or 2000....... yet to hit another iron that has the same feel. Kicking myself I didn't grab the optional 1 iron at the time of purchase
Now that I can actually hit blades well, I am obsessed with old school blades. These are awesome!
So fun to watch! Please do more!
Played those for years. Awesome.
I still have the original tzoid pros forged I practice with them all the time. They are from 1998
Love these irons.
First thing I thought when you held the club up was - that must be the prototype for the new Callaway x Forged CB irons ;-)
Still gaming the tzoid pros
LOVE THE VIRTUAL 9S!
Yeah I do I just bought a set 3-pw $1 a club at the goodwill. They are weirdly very offset though.
Brilliant! Had a T-zoid 3 wood. Rocket!
Nice..... I have two sets of Tzoid Pro II Irons and one I picked up on Craigs List for $ 75 bucks and they are in 8 out of 10 condition :)
I had a set of those bad boys!! Changed them for a set of MP32's which I still have in the bag now. They're in better nick than those T Zoids. Maybe your next retro review?
I have that 2 iron. I love it off of short par 4s
Al, I have a set of Taylormade Tour Preferred Irons, freshly regripped, 3-SW. Circa 1988-89?! They would make a great retro review. I don't use them. They are just sitting here at my house.
I still have these irons. Not got the 2 iron though.
9:06 does this work? Never tried it but Im willing to give anything a try once
The fairy hands settle motion almost always makes it go more. Purely out of spite on the balls part. 🤣🤣
@@HarryBase63 That's how I feel. I never gesture my ball, for that very reason. Always just seemed to make things worse, somehow. Sometimes I can talk to it, and it might listen. But never a gesture.
Awesome set I played them for years
You need to get the TN-87. The last copper plated mizzy irons. When I went to university I was playing mp-33 after having mp-14.
Brilliant retro review... best get out on the course 😉🏌️♂️⛳️🍻
These clubs are in my bag PW to 3 iron. Feel fabulous, still plenty of spin on them....Has anyone got a 2 iron please?
Damn, brings back memories! My first set of mizunos was the t-zoid!
Love the club review Al 👍🏻 have you thought about doing any budget sets? Could be interesting to get your opinion and might be a good laugh too👌🏻🏌🏻♂️
These were my first real set of irons when I was 13 They’re were absolutely amazing irons
1st time in 3 months that I was actually notified of your video instead of having to look it up myself 👌👌👌
I play with tzoid pro irons. would love a 1 iron for my set though. I have from 3 to ps. best clubs I've ever used
Those were my dream set of irons but, left handed 😭
Spandau!!! Yessss! And that sand wedge looked just fine. Why you hate on it? Didn't understand 😕
Haha huge offset . Not hate
@@alexetchesgolf ahhh. Ok then. Wasn't clear, though u thought so 😁
I have some of them irons from the set right before this. The tzoid pro
Al ive got the t zoid driver if you ever want to test it
Why do I feel like I need to make some toast while I’m watching this video? I guess I need to grab the butter cause I can use those irons to spread that butter on my toast!
I'd rather have sent you my daughters than any of my mizuno clubs... They looked fabulous they must surely be refurbed 👍
You hole out great... Virtually 😀
I had t zoid pro 2s they were great
I still have my set of tommy armour 845s from high school. 1998. I also have a practically new set that i bought last year. New, old stock. Used them for about 3 rounds. If anyone is looking. Lol
Sweet video. Hope to see you on the real course. How about a left handed challenge of some sort???? Lol.
There is a 1 iron that goes with the set as well, I have hit one......impossible to get it over head high!
i swap playing between them and my MP 29's. Both great irons!
Something is amiss in Whoville. We lost a shot on the first hole, sand wedge was the 3rd shot, the putt was the 5th?
What are your current gamer irons?
Love it but those would not get anywhere near my bag, I like my blade to be slightly bigger than the ball instead of smaller...
Jolly good fun AL
Al I’ve never seen you hit so many fades
That mizuno putter is 👌🏼
Great video al
Does anyone know the name of the song they use for the intro?
I game the mizuno zoid pro which is my dad's old set of irons
Correct me if I am wrong (catching up on videos, not going to google) the original T-Zoid Pro came out in 1994-1995? My college roommate had them.
T-Zoid pro did correct
@@alexetchesgolf I know I'm getting old and going blind...glad I'm not plum crazy.
What simulator does he use?
Only a minute in and I'm already scared of that butter knife 2 iron. 😰😱🤯
It's so amazing to hit though 🤤
Not me. I've been looking for a set that has proper long irons, ended up losing patience and getting fit for jpx 921 forged, and cobra forged utility.
You can get a full tzoid set for dead cheap too.
Have you done ping eye 2's? please do the eye 2's
Where have those Irons been to be in such pristine condition, they surly have never been hit before?!
I have these in my bag? 🤔 callaway apex mb 2014
I still game T-Zoid Comp EZ, thinking about updating. Has iron tech come that far in 23 years? 😂
MOI did. I love Tommy 845 but I noticed on mishit it loses ton vs. 2000-2015 cavity irons
Just added the Pro II set to the collection. $75
