Cambridge, Ma firefighters battle mid afternoon inferno

Firefighters knew they were going to work with multiple calls and a large column of black smoke in the sky responding to a report of a house fire on Meacham Rd. A quick 2nd and 3rd alarm were transmitted.
Upon arrival, the rear of the house was well involved with exposure problems. Big lines immediately went into work but the fire extended into all 3 floors, forcing firefighters out of the building and go defensive.
It took about 2 hours to bring the fire under control.
