While the ultimate result of the war was a decisive Israeli victory, this would not have been possible without considerable US arms shipments of advanced munitions. As a consequence, Kissinger was in a position to extract concessions from Israel in the Sinai, with the goal of pulling Egypt out of the Soviet sphere. On the other hand there is also evidence that Israel refused to even consider a first strike because the US told they would not be supported had they done it. @@jackzimmer6553 I don’t think it’s fair to say that Egypt failed to achieve its war aims. Since 1970-71, Egypt had broken with its Arab allies on the Three No’s, with the goal of achieving a normalization of relations with Israel, in exchange for the evacuation of the Israeli occupied Sinai, and more broadly a renunciation by Israel of all its conquests in the 1967 war. There was a considerable body of opinion in the Israeli government who wanted to pursue this diplomatically, but were ultimately stymied by the hardliners in the government. So, while I would never say Israel lost in 1973, their inability to win on their own resources, and the strong early showing by the Egyptian forces, did defeat the faction in Tel Aviv arguing for the permanent occupation of the Sinai. The big winner, of course, was the US, which succeeded in pulling Egypt out of the Soviet sphere, becoming a US ally.

I hope that people can look at the whole history of Israel and not get caught up in what is happening right now. You are making that more easily accessible and I think that's really important. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more. You cover in-depth and detailed accounts without your own narrative, which I find to be the best way to deliver any information. I thank you for doing it that way. I've been doing a lot of research on my own and this video has helped me in getting a better grasp of the obsession that Netanyahu has for taking over the land of Palestine. I knew it wasn't as "easy" or as simply defined as what Netanyahu, or Israel, would have the world believe. Especially since Hamas didn't form until 1987 and it's more complex than a just a rogue faction suddenly popping into existence to attack Israel. Yet that's pretty much what is being delivered to everyone on the world stage. I don't condone what happened on October 7th but there are deeper rivers that flow through this and I'm not even sure many Jews are aware of it, let alone others from different countries who have not experienced the geopolitical or sociopolitial ties that bind the middle east. It's not something that I, myself, have taken to task in investigating until recently. I understand learning about the genocide/holocaust and the Nazi regime of WW2. I think it's imperative to look at the savagery that countries and individual people inflict on others. Not only for the sake of history but hopefully to make us better human beings as individuals because it's still happening in other parts of the world with little to no acknowledgment. If there's one thing that I have taken away from the current events, it's my awareness of such things and how the complacency from world powers, including the UN, is one of the biggest factors to its continuation. My personal perspective: I don't like how the specific time in history for Germany in WW2 is being exploited to elicit sympathies for Israel, by Israel...by Netanyahu. It devalues all of those who were victimized and lost their lives during that time. It's not solely centered around the Jewish people and I don't think it ever should have been. Not to the level that it has been. It's far more complicated, historically, than that. What I have found the most difficult in my research is that while the Nazi regime is something widely covered and easily available to everyone, the history of Israel seems to be (purposefully ?) hidden from view and I really question why that is. I'm not placing that only Netanyahu for who is censoring it, but his participation in doing it, above all else, is what I find most concerning right now.
Refreshing to hear from someone who doesn't just buy into the latest news and go from there to judge the situation. Look at history. Stay awake. It isn't all black and white as too many seem to believe.
You obviously don't know history as well as you think you do. You think before WWII arabs and jews lived in harmony in Palestine? Think again, there were countless massacres on Jewish villages in the 1920's and 1930's. You are obviously completely biased to be anti-Israel and complete hypocrite when you say you appreciate detailed accounts without your own narrative, when it is very clear that that's exactly what you are doing, even bring in your entire "personal perspective". How is that for not including your "own narrative"? Seriously? How is Netanyahu obsessed with Palestine. They gave up Gaza in the interest of peace. They gave up the Sinai in the interest of peace. Rather counterproductive if you have the ambition to occupy it all. Which part of the history of Israel is hidden from view? For what happend on October 7 there is no excuse, no "hidden river" that can justify it in any way. If you think otherwise, it is clear which side you support.

I am not directing this at any country or culture. I don't know enough to know about any countries history to make judgements. I am talking about war in general. Most people just want to live peacefully. Why do governments want to have wars all the time? Why do they think it is OK to take land that isn't theirs or force their laws and beliefs on others or whatever they are fighting about at any given time? Most people are like "you guys work it out on your own. I am not part of this." but it never fails that innocent people get dragged into things and the atrocities begin. I'm so tired of it. Unfortunately, I can't go back to living in my bubble because I can't unknow things.
this is literally how I think. I feel like I was stripped of my innocence and fun when I began to understand war, this strange, almost overly sexu*l way that a lot people think in (p*dophilia and SA). I remember feeling like I lost my will to live when I REALLY learned about the horrors of the Holocaust and its sad to think that the people committing these atrocities in Gaza have forgotten about their own history in a way, knowing that this was exactly the way the Nazis forced them and their ancestors into ghettos and concentration camps.

It’s one of the reasons why Assyrian people don’t consider themselves apart of Iraq. Then talk about current day Isis attacks and destruction of their history, Artefacts and culture.

Quit yapping, no one cares about your opinion or your obsession with Netanyahu
What is hidden to you in history of Israel?
Israel is doing to Palestine what Nazis did to them. Which makes Israel WORSE than Nazis
You're one of few channels I subscribe to that I watch immediately when notified, thank you. Imagine if Israel had kept Qunetra, Suez and Sinai, and continues to stand firm in holding onto the gas Fields off its coast that were more plentiful than now because of meddling last year under the Biden administration which pushed a treaty change on the Bennett temporary government. Sinai provided oil Independence, plentiful coastline and the Suez.
Anwar Sadat was assassinated for violating Islamic law which forbids the surrendering of previously held Islamic land. 55 Muslim countries 22 Arab countries & Israel.

War is human nature
@@lambdee7006
That is not true for everyone. We aren't all warmongers. Most of us just want to feel safe and secure and live our lives.
Islam wants war. It wants to get rid of the only Western democracy in the Middle East whose existence threatens the surrounding Arab nations. Islamists want to build an Islamic State on the rubble of a destroyed Israel after which they will dominate the world with militant Islam.

Good video. My only criticism would be that it did seem slightly biased in favor of Israel in a few parts. The part where you were talking about claims of war crimes for example. You went in depth into all the horrible accusations of torture and murder against the Arab forces but then when it came time to talk about the allegations against Israel, all you mentioned was Israeli settlers destroying buildings in a town as they left it. We all know that the IDF has been routinely accused of the same crimes you mentioned for the Arab forces, so why not mention them?
Ultimately though, you created a great video and I subbed to the channel. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your work.
The difference in what is called war crime between the two sides.
One is destroying buildings while the other is mass murder and rape. Wow the difference between the two sides is staggering and shows who the beasts actually were.
You aren’t aware of the amount of murder & rape committed by Israelis? Is this a joke?
yeah both are isnotreal
Rape and beheadings that have supposedly occured on Oct 7th have not been verified. Even the casualty count is being changed. Still, a very dark day.
Those buildings have people in them, killing none combatants is mass murder, one doesn't excuse the other, answering death with more death fixes nothing yes

Want a video that would capture a lot of views. Make one about Liberias history title “The African American Jim Crow Colony” or something similar. I think it’s important to show that groups regardless of race when in power will sometimes do bad. You know the whole Stanford prison experiment.
Also I’d appreciate it if you make a video on the simele massacre too, it’s very interesting and often overlooked, but it happened right as Iraq gained independence. It’s one of the reasons why Assyrian people don’t consider themselves apart of Iraq. Then talk about current day Isis attacks and destruction of their history, Artefacts and culture.
African Americans despise Africans
Though only old Africans and uncle Tom's hate African Americans
I hope I don't sound rude, but Simele massacre was somehow too complex. Just like how Saddam used Iran as an excuse for Anfal, Iraqi government used the British as excuse for Simele.
Even today, Iraqi government didn't publicly apologize, and the constant coups and two government rivalry made it extremely difficult for it to be seen as a real event by any.
@@onetruesavior69 no not rude at all I understand your question. But it was a real event and one that has lead to continued persecution in this nation. So talking about it is important and after the massacre we know there were celebrations among the Arabs of Baghdad for their deaths.
Using other nations as an excuse for ethnic cleansing is dumb, just how isreal employed the same tactic with Iran.
Cringe Marxist dialectics
@@AtarahMata From what I heard, the Kurdish tribes celebrated it too (free looting), and generally it was considered by most Iraqi Muslims as a victory against Westerners (Assyrians were allies of the British)
Israel stay strong amen
So you support a genocidal state.
Wherever a hierarchy and the domination of the masses exist, horror is sure to follow.
I stand with Israel ❤
If I'm not mistaken some of those Israeli soldiers who died in that war were female and Egypt and Syria being Muslim weren't nice to women who killed their soldiers. Today there is still horrific violence on both sides mostly because of two groups who don't represents all Jews and Palestinians. I hope there is peace someday.
There were no Israeli female soldiers in those days. Those were the days when men were men, boys were boys and women stayed at home.
They’ll only be peace when Muslims accept the land of Judea is the home of the Jewish people😊
In Islam it is written, that you may violate a woman who has been captured during war, even if she is married, so not exactly a non-sanctioned activity for muslims (women under socalled right hand posession). Violence against women is just a tool of war to them , a way to humiliate and terrorize as has happened on October 7th. We have testimonies from captured Hamas terrorists that they had instructions to do so. Of course testimonies, whether made under duress or not can be questioned for veracity but at a minimum do not exclude this explanation and we do have eyewitness accounts
what do you mean? do you mean that killing male soldiers is not as bad as killing female soldiers?
Israel has always wanted peace and there is NO equivalency between Israel and its Muslim enemies!!! As long as there is Islam there never will be peace!!! Oh, and Islam has no love for Christians or other religions either!!!!!!!!!!!!
As Robert Plant quipped, the song remains the same.

I mean they should’ve kept saying no negotiations with the Israeli governments.
If they had, Egypt would have had a seriously problem on its hands.
The only reason Egypt had a military after all that is because Israel saw an opportunity to make peace. Absent that, Egypt would have fallen to the massed Israeli army in the Sinai. And then left. And then the other Arab states would pick at Egypt's corpse. Sadat knew this.
