  • Melissa explains what exactly Frend Terry is, how it’s used in clothing and why you definitely want to know all about it. And what do looped piles have to do with it?
Ok. Picture this- you’re browsing the web for your next favorite hoodie or tee when you stumble across the term french terry, or terry cloth and you’re not sure what it means.
You would ask a friend but you feel a little embarrassed that you don’t know what French Terry is. Well don't worry, we’ll save you the embarrassment because we’ve got all the answers on french terry and why it’s not just called terry cloth.
French Terry clothing broke onto the scene shortly after the discovery of its well-known relative, terry cloth. Terry cloth, best known for its use in towels, is a soft fabric made up of large, uncut, looped piles. It has a softness to it that some people refer to as magical.
These looped piles are on both sides of the fabric and help to absorb large amounts of water. In Terry cloth the length of the piles controls the amount of water that can be absorbed by the fabric.
French terry, like terry cloth, features the same looping and piling of the fabric, however it is only on one side of the garment. This allows for the fabric to maintain the features its known for, but creates a sought-after, wearable look. French terry also offers a soft-hand and smooth surface, making decorating on this fabric a dream.
French terry isn’t going anywhere, so jump on the bandwagon and enjoy the ride as this it has the snuggly-soft feel we all know and love. If you want to know more about French Terry, be sure to head to our blog here: www.shirtspace.com/blog/what-...

You showed a close up of the terry cloth but not the French terry? Which was the whole reason I watched... thanks. I guess. 🤔

You are totally correct. We agree there should be a close up of French Terry. We hope to be able to remake this video in the near future to include this important shot. Thank you for taking the time to watch, and we appreciate your feedback, so that we can make our videos more helpful to our audience.

thanks for the useless info. what's it made of ? synthetic from oil or natural and grown using diesel from oil in the tractors and harvesters etc. what toxic chemicals are used in its processing and manufacture process? What chemicals are used in colouring ?Where is it made ? How and where are the offcuts and processing chemicals disposed of?

Hi Jake. Thank you for feedback about our video so that we can provide better content moving forward. We are hoping to reshoot some of our older content in the near future. We will add this to our list of videos to re-do and improve upon. Additionally, we think that showing and explaining the fabric in more depth would be very helpful! Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!
