Absolutely fascinating, seeing how each piece is semi-mechanically formed, and then hand-painted. However, I do wish you would show how the initial designs are transferred to each piece. Are the pieces fired before or after the designs are applied? [The designs are obviously too uniform not to be transfers.] It looks to me like some pieces - especially those large platters - go through several firings before completion? For example, the green bowls - judging from the absorbancy of the clay, the decoration could be applied even before an initial firing. I would love a LOT more detail in this video, but thank you for what you have shown. BTW, those kilns are awesome!
Some look like transfers, like the green peonies, but others, like the one being filled with the orange-brown color looks handpainted to me. But I agree, it would be cool to see that part as well ^_^
Truly beautiful work and workmanship. But. I didn't see any young people working there. In 20-30 years it will all be gone, as the young would rather play games than learn how to be craftsman. Hundreds of years of skill down the drain.

i will never look at pottery the same way again
Very interesting but why do they use such big brushes?
Brushes are traditional ceramic brush for production pottery. Holds lots of material but still allows detailed work.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
You did not show those pieses finished when they were working on them!!!

What happened 400 years ago?
