On your last turn I think you should have used road building and then double settled instead of using the YOP. This would have left your hand with 2 wheat and a wood (as well as still having the YOP) letting you win with any roll. It wouldn't of mattered since black ended up winning that turn, but it would have given you a better chance if black didn't get his rolls that cycle.
19:15 you can take road, it doesn't give you the win tho. You have to use your road building then port 6 sheep for 3 bricks. It gets you to 8 roads, which still means black overtakes you if he connects. Ultimately, I think the best move there was probably to double road settle using the road building.
I'm still learning the intricacies of this game. In the meantime it's still pretty entertaining to see the strategizing, the gamesmanship, and the crazy rolls.
I wonder if the 3:1 is ever better than the wood port there, it gives 5 more pips of sheep and still lets you process your wood, plus sets up the connect for 6 roads. Might have been better?
The exchange with blue was humorous. Blue: It could be you [white] or black White: I'll help you to make sure black doesn't win Blue: It doesn't matter; black wins even with your help
It’s a relief to know other players are plagued by opponents with sub-optimal game sense. Take road or army too fast, everyone loses their minds. No one understands potential energy, or why the threat of taking road is stronger than having road.
Last turn you can win if someone takes a brick for sheep trade. You use road building and settle on 3-1 port, then port your remaining wheat and sheep and take road.
I wonder if there was any consideration on pointing your initial road down towards the 3911, seems good and more combative than pointing towards a third port, maybe you don’t get it, but like the way the game played out you could’ve fought for it at least, and the wood is good with the port, I know is easy to say it in hindsight, but I think it’s fairly low risk to do so, what do you think?

Which means they lost anyway no matter who they sabotage.
You almost were able to steal road and settle (using rb), a 2 for 2 trade for brick would’ve given it to you, no guarantee they’d give, but was a chance
Dylan, how long did you play for before you felt you were getting good? I feel like I would make similar decisions as you in the video, but when I play others on colonist it's like I can't analyze anything.
Black was 100% winning on his turn at the end. There were maximum 2 VPs in play. Only way you win this game is to pull 2 VP on your turn, which you had the ability to do. Blue was really bad, he actually blocked you at the end when that 7 rolled xD
the editing on the intro is so over the top lol. It's a vibe for sure, it's just a little weird is all I'm saying, but maybe that's what you're going for.
Yo you're really decreasing your audio quality somehow it sounds like you're cutting off the first syllable of every word. I think it's some kind of agressive noise surpression on your mic or something, very distracting IMO. Sounds like I'm on a call with someone with a very bad connection or something. Everey second word is missing its first letter. My best guess is you have it set to some kind of "volume threshold" setting like you get in discord but it kicks in just a little too slow each time
Well played. Was blue that game. Figured getting the 3 9 11 was what I needed for the roads but once black got there that became very unlikely pared with all the ore and ore port he had. I did believe you would win given your high production and devs but it seems you didn't have the right ones. Good luck on your climb. Btw I like the way you hustle.
@@Wolfschanzeful Black has to get to his turn and get the rolls he needs to win but white has 2 unknown devs and lots of resources. If 1 of those cards is road building which it was and 1 was a vp then he wins. Not a risk I was willing to take

The gamesmanship... or lack thereof. 33% of the time Colonist is civil. 33% no talking. 33% it's pretty nasty. Worse in the unranked games.
Dyl and Dandy are the 2 best youtubers to learn strategies from imho, so you are at the best channel to learn from :D

Tbf this is just life.
Especially with games that have very few decisions every decision is so important.
