Humanizing Kreese at the expense of dehumanizing the Vietnamese . This is terrible what they are doing in the show. The original 3 movies dealt with Asian stereotypes and racism both by the US government and individuals like Kreese. He called Miyagi "slope" in all three movies. To retcon his character like this is disgusting and dishonors the legacy of both Pat Morita, the character of Miyagi and all Asian Americans who suffered greatly throughout American History both through war and their depiction in Hollywood movies and TV. If the writers do not address this in Season 4, this will tarnish the entire series.
God Hawk in this episode is just insane. His arc, while sometimes can be a little out there, is very believable as a bullied kid who becomes the exact thing that he hates. What better way to show that then in this episode where he next to kills that big one.

It's possible the writers are misdirecting us about Kreese. Maybe all the flashbacks we saw were just in Kreese's head and not real. It's implied Kreese has mental illness that could be related to his mother's mental illness, or his many concussions he's had since he has been fighting his whole life. He must have some brain damage. Maybe Kreese is like the Joker in the movie "Joker", where he is imagining all this and it's not reality.

You guys didn't mention how much Amanda changed since the first season where now it's like she is one of the more aggressive opponents of Kreese. And you guys didn't have the setup where kyler and his friend come into the soul and immediately try to bully Hawk or the after whe r Hawk gets right in kyler's face after to get his message across.
Kyler better be glad that wasn't his face the Hawk pummeled because the look on his face when Hawk was done with his friend told Kyler "Don't mess with Eli or should I say Hawk."
Tori is the new Johnny from the first movie. She's been built to be the main protagonist to Sam. I think they will build out her character more in the future, sort of like how they did with Johnny in this show. The only thing we like about her is that she cares for her mom and brother. I look forward to seeing how she is in later seasons... But right now she is one of the biggest bullies in Cobra Kai. I love how intimidating she is to Sam in each of their confrontations. Lots of slow mo about to whip you moments. :P
I think it is a bit much to call Tory a bully at all. She doesn’t really bother anyone other than Sam, who in reality has very nearly every advantage over her.
He seemed too short so that’s the only thing that threw me off, it was a nice switch they did. Just don’t like how whiny terry silver is in the flashbacks

As always your analysis is really on point! it's super interesting to look back at the episode through your reaction, I find myself catching some things I had overlooked before (especially when it comes to Kreese backstory). On another note when you finish reacting on season 3 you should check Sweet Home (which is also on Netflix), I think you would like it a lot!
There's definitely some additional background to Tory. The way she watched the end of the fight with Hawk and Brucks was deliberately filmed to reflect the way the bullied kids look AWAY when they are fearful. But in her case, if you watch for it, you see that she CAN'T look away from the brutality. Miguel is right. She needs help.
it would've been an insane move, if they positioned the hawk fight scene, over the shoulder, so we could see the bloodied face of his former bully and see the punches and then have it cut between the actual shot where we see his face and the punches and over the shoulder look when he went into the punching frenzy.

Tory is Kreese's Grand Daughter - i think that's the route story is heading. It also makes sense why Tory has that Killer attitude! This also shows how Kreese can be redeemed. He'll ens up realizing how his methods have hurt Tory's life and her training with Kreese at Cobra Kai! So Kreese's girlfriend didn't die when Kreese was in Vietnam. It was a lie - i think the letter was about her being pregnant.
