That all depends on your springs, height and weight. And suspension preference. With the stock suspension I would start with the stock settings and adjust from there.

To make sure I understood your comments on rebound affecting compression, are you saying going faster on rebound will soften compression and going slower on rebound will increase compression?
Yes. That is correct. The more restrictive the clicker setting is. The more restrictive the bypass flow is meaning less oil can bypass. So a slower rebound also means a slower compression (which is firmer).
i raced southwick in 1984 on a modded rm125 with stock suspension and it rode like a dog......the forks kept diving.....didnt know suspension needed mods too.....the shock was fine ......i was wide open going nowhere fast
