    TLDW Summary:
    2:26 1. Make sure you are in the zone. Respect *the* *game* *before* *the* *game* .
    4:05 2. Find a good location, it has to be *private* and *quiet* .
    5:18 3. Find out all the details about the interview, test as much as you can beforehand, utilize your recruiter.
    6:20 4. Make sure your have a *good* *audio* *setup* , check your mic and earbuds/headphones.
    7:59 5. Check if the interviewer and you can hear each other well, don't let that disrupt your performance.
    10:04 6. (BEST TIP) Phone interviews have latency and you can't utilize body language to communicate, this leads to a scenario where you and the interviewer are talking at the same time.
    6a. Minimize the amount of pauses in your sentence (use filler words)
    6b. Pass off the conversation to the interviewer by finishing your statements with a question strategically. (e.g., Does that make sense?)
    6c. If both you and interviewer are talking, just finish your sentence, your interviewer should realize that it's latency issue and will not consider it as rude.
    15:16 7. If you need to think, *TELL* *YOUR* *INTERVIEWER* (e.g., I might need to take 20, 30 seconds to think about this, if I'm not talking, it's because I'm thinking, is that ok witchu?) but don't do this too often. (remember interviewers usually want to hear you think out loud)
    17:09 8. Use the Coderpad/Google doc to your advantage. Don't use your cursor to say "here, I'm doing this" (They can't see your mouse bro) *HIGHLIGHT* *what* *you're* *talking* *about* . While you are handicapped with no body language, you are gifted with the ability to write things out quickly, comment often!
    18:45 9. After you're done, ask your interviewer what you're supposed to do next, close the doc? stay on the call? etc. Don't risk letting your assumptions emit negative signals to your interviewer.

      Yes, AlgoExpert teaches you the fundamentals of Data Structures needed to tackle coding interviews as well as exactly how to solve each question on platform, both conceptually and in code. Check out our free content on the platform (free questions, free videos, etc.). As for the duration of study, it's really going to depend on the person. If you can start studying a year before your interviews, that's fantastic. But if you only have a few weeks, you can certainly still do well; you'll just have to cram a lot of practice every single day!

    Do the 6 questions on systemsexpert have videos associated with them or are they text-based?

    • @clem
      @clem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, they all have 45-to-60-minute video explanations. You can see an example here: th-cam.com/video/q0KGYwNbf-0/w-d-xo.html (note that on SystemsExpert, we don't display our cameras like you'll see in this TH-cam video).

      If you're really stuck, then yes! It's okay to ask for a little help after you've gone through multiple approaches and voiced your thought process.

    Clement can we use pen and paper to kinda visualize the coding problem during a phone interview because a lot of time it's difficult to visualize things in our mind and how'd our interviewer will react on this ?

    • @martjao
      @martjao 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I have the same doubt D:

    • @clem
      @clem  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you definitely can. I'd just explain to your interviewer that you're going to do this; you could even ask them: "Hey, is it okay if I jot down some notes or draw something on a piece of paper to help me visualize?" And then I'd voice exactly what you're writing down. But ideally, I'd try to do this on the Google Doc, if possible.
