    Great to see you're back out, Dan. And, you've gotta love that low surf! Interesting new Nomad lure.

    Great video, and cool to see you get hit on DTX and the Squidtrex - I need to get some of those in my arsenal too!

    New subscriber. I'm semi retired myself. Good to see a fellow kayaker in the local area doing the same thing I'm doing.

    Stealth kayak fishing 🤤. Great to see you on the water again! I guess I’m buying some squidtrex now lol. I really need to take my slow pitch set up out more. Hard to choose what rods to take out 🤷‍♂️. I think I need to shorten the rod butt of my trevala PX conventional light action rod (my slow pitch rod). The length is more suitable for someone standing on a boat. Cut off a few inches and slap on a rubber gimbal butt cap.

    Nice job. Did you know you were unintentionally trolling for thresher sharks with the bouncing lure at 3:05 ? I hooked an 8' thresher on my sea kayak when it tail slapped it during a 'snack' off Bolsa Chica! Also glad to see the squidtrex worked as well. I picked on up at the Bart Hall show and asked others that were picking them up by the handful if they worked. They said they didn't know, but the reports looked good, so I picked up 1.

      Haha… it’s funny, I don’t consciously remember doing that, but I definitely saw it in the video. I’ve caught several Threshers off of Bolsa Chica. All were caught with a Rapala Magnum X-Rap 15. In all cases, the Thresher Shark would wack the lure with its tail, which resulted in me reeling the shark in tail first. Once the water temperature gets a little warmer and fish move back onto the artificial reefs, that SQUIDTREX is going to be the hot ticket!🎣😃

    Been many a day id have been happy with one fish!! I troll the nomad crank baits a lot these days over others, they track straight every time never had to fiddle with em trying to get them to run decent. Course now I gotta try the squid trex! Lol Cheers Sir glad the water is cleaning up and your getting after em

    Can you get into pros and cons of kayaking fishing in wetsuit?

    • @losthorizonfishing107
      @losthorizonfishing107  ปีที่แล้ว

      This time of year with the water temperature below 55 degrees (F), the wetsuit definitely helps keep you warm. I wear a 3mm thick Farmer John (no sleeves) style wetsuit, with a long sleeve thermal rash guard, topped off with fishing jersey. Also my Stealth Kayak sits really low in the water, so you are constantly getting wet. 9 times out of 10, when paddling through the surf during a beach launch you get soaked head to toe. The wetsuit also provides excellent sun protection, which is good, as I have numerous problems with skin cancer.
      The downside to the wetsuit is that sometimes you can get a little too warm, but even during the summertime, I will typically still wear a wetsuit. But… the summertime wetsuit is much thinner and lighter than the one I wear during winter months.
      Probably worth mentioning is taking a pee can be problematic when you’re wearing a wetsuit.🎣😃
