- In this video I try out the Laegendary RANGO! This is a 1/8 scale RTR RC crawler loaded with features out of the box. It includes a working winch with steel cable, multi-functional lights, big 5" tires, and a two speed transmission. This is a great entry level RC truck in the larger scale, perfect for Axel and I as we slowly start trying larger scale trucks. Check out the video to see it in action!

Thinking you already lost that one to mini me!!! I agree, trail truck at best. Snow going, that type thing. Different body and mounts to get rid of all the aluminum, and keep it as a recovery truck maybe. But I'm sure you will find a good use for it!! Great video and keep them coming!!!

This is a rebranded vrx racing RH1055 with a different body shell - but same chassis, wheels and winch feature, and riverhobby (the oem) refers to it as a 1/10 scale. Europe based FTX rc sells it under model no. FTX5563R - FTX KANYON 4X4 with a different colorway but same body shell.
Had to google that and you're right. The vrx looks like a land rover defender!

Cool truck, but you're right about being more of a trail truck. It's a good truck for your son. You should look into the axial scx10ll or lll , they are a very capable crawler. The gladiator is a great rig, the old style bronco ain't no slouch by any means, there's a lot of very capable crawlers out there now. Awesome video Adam 👍😁
The SCX10iii is most likely what I will get. Gotta have that gladiator!

Great vid it looks very similar to the ftx kanyon which is sold here in the uk, it benefits massively from a motor gearbox lift thats a free mod 👍

i bought the danche ridgrock crawler and for the price im so impressed. im more of a person to say that not to cheap out on stuff but the danchee is sooooo goood for the price. this is coming from a person who spent 1000 plus on their scx24
I look at the Danchee every week. I need to just buy one. Something about it just calls to me!
That new crawling spot looks incredible nice find, it would be a shame if some of those rocks went missing haha

I have soo much fun with my WPL trucks with the realistic bodies and performance with the ability to change body parts and wheels between them and get my new stuff at a nice reasonable price

I don’t own any 10th scale rc yet but the frame I definitely interesting. Suspension kinda of seems like a blend between 4 link and trailing arm. I’m sure your son will love it though.
Although I will say it looks like it could use some new tires if it’s gonna be on crawling duty
Yes, I agree with you about the suspension! I was checking out those lower links thinking they were more trailing arms than anything else. I think scrapping the bumper setup and changing the body would make a world of difference, as would a good set of tires.
we have had a version of this in the uk it's called an ftx kanyon they have just modified the body and they call it a xl 1/10

I found that the 2 speed transmission doesn't like to engage sometimes and the center underneath gets caught on everything because it hands lower. But a very fun truck. Especially in the snow. It could be so much better with a different body and bumper design
Zak my buddy at moneypit_rc has put a different body and longer shocks on his, also got rid of those bumpers, and the thing is amazing!

That was a great review, it seems like a pretty good truck minus the few little issues but that doesn't seem the few issues. I know it isn't necessarily a crawler but I'm curious on your thoughts on the Traxxas Summit, it's a bit of an oddball but I quite like mine
Thanks! The Summit looks cool. I've never seen one in person, but I like how it's like a hybrid basher/monster truck! Looks super fun.
@@CapeCrawlers I actually have one myself, it's quite a fun rig but the stock steering servos are quite underpowered, but besides that it's a pretty impressive truck
2 faults with this truck is the aluminium mounts for the body will snap off easily and you have to re drill it and relocate the body post and the clamp holding the winch hook on is not tight and will come right off so smash it with some pliers and crimp it better

It looks like a copy of a Land Rover that they widened to make it Hummer H1 dimensions. It’s large enough you could probably pull a small wagon for hauling around yard work tools with it!
I'll have to hook it onto a utility cart when we start doing spring yard work. We'll test it out!

Honestly first impression of this truck is that it's just a slightly modified Kanyon V2 for double the money. The remote looks identical, the winch, lights and crossbars look identical.. even the chassis looks like it was cut and repainted from the Kanyon. :D It certainly looks nice, but double the money?
I didn't even know the Kanyon existed! Slightly different body but otherwise it looks identical.

Can you tell me what you think the zip ties are for? I got this unit for Christmas and cannot for the life of me figure out why it came with 4 zip ties.

Wow that is sweet, except for I Ain’t fond of the pink sticker why would they do that. Does it have tail lights I noticed you got headlights on no tail lights just curious
Thankfully the pink sticker peels off and it's white underneath. It does have taillights with turn signals and brake lights integrated into them.

Definitely is but I found out later that the coating peels off and it's white underneath (thankfully).
Take care of that mashigan, they disappeared off the fms website, word is Jeep went after them. I doubt you can get parts for it.

The Rango is more for my son to use since it's exactly his style. I'm still scoping out the High Trail or the SCX10iii gladiator.

Where would one get spare parts?
They sell some on their website and Amazon store. I can tell you we have broken the rear driveshaft and I cannot find a replacement, which is a bummer.
You don't know how long the charge lasts, can you please tell me?
On the NIMH battery that comes with it we get about 20 minutes run time
It's the same as an FTX Kanyon v2 just different body and a lot more expensive

In other words, my servo on my 24 Gladiator gave out this past weekend...🤦🏼♂️ Thinking about getting an NSDRC micro servo to replace it. 🤔 Talk to a friend of mine & said they're really good & hasn't given him fits.

Lol it's really a 1/10th scale in disguise of a 1/8th with them aluminium pieces front and back, make the truck alot bigger, and the aluminum is very flimsy, not a fan. Other company's have this truck under different names.
Super flimsy. I think without those pieces and a new body, it would be a lot of fun. Other company's models are actually less expensive too. Nut sure about domestic availability though (US).

It looks like the old ftx kanyon, ok as a trail truck but garbage as a crawler tbh. Chassis is very poor for crawling, save your money imo.

Definitely need to do your research about what you can get for that same money (Axial basecamp, trx4, etc.). But if you can grab this on sale for around $300 I think there's value there.
@@CapeCrawlers even at $300 you can get a Redcat Gen 8 for $339 and that is an excellent value. IMO at $150 to $200 I can see that being a fair price.
