The machine after the thresher was a Choppy Cutter, that's what I know 'em by. It chopped wurzles, a type of turnip, to make 'em more palitable to feed livestock.
Hiya Andy & Vicky 👋🏻👋🏻 Right at the beginning you asked if that plane was a Spitfire, well from my Airfix days as a kid, because of the curved wings at the rear of the wings it’s a Spitfire (also the big difference between a Spitfire & Hurricane is the canopy. The Spitfire has a “bubble” canopy, whilst the Hurricane has a more rectangle shape.) Very interesting place & information about the land girls, & wasn’t it only in recent years any surviving members were awarded a WW2 medal? I love the Euro Shuttle, that type of carriage you was on is what I drive my coach onto. It’s a bit of a faf as you have to point the front of the coach over the edge of the entry due the the steering wheels being behind the driver (the front overhang) & then swing it around to enter the carriage. Once straight you have to watch the wing mirrors in between the carriages as where the partition is can be a bit tight. Sometimes when loading it can take ages to drive in & it seems I’ve driven across lol. Looking forward to more adventures & soon I’ll be going to Germany with my work too. See ya soon 🇬🇧🫶🏻🇬🇧
You're correct, the Canadians captured Battery Todt after the breakout from Normandy.
And thus the revamped motor home begins a new journey!

Thanks Andy (& Vicky). Really interesting 👍🏼😁. Lots of stuff we never knew about the Women’s Land Army (and Le Shuttle 😊)
Nice to meet you both today :D
