What Is Patching in DMX Lighting Design? - Scale your light show using SoundSwitch

One of the fundamental aspects of lighting design is scalability. While each DMX lighting solution achieves that differently, I think that "patching" is probably the best way to do that with SoundSwitch, and makes a lot of sense hardware-wise as a mobile DJ, opposed to creating a unique address for each of your fixtures.
I try to achieve scalability in my SoundSwitch Shortcut preset pack, by making the light show work, even if you don't use all of the fixtures.

Definitely a good guide, this is what I typically do. One thing that has helped me a bunch on setup is adding little labels on each of my lights that show the DMX address. Since the screens go to sleep after about 10 seconds, I find this much easier than having to wake each one up to see the address.
