    If I remember correctly, Dampening the area with a spray bottle first will make the process more effective.

      Interesting. That would increase the conductivity through the ground. Thanks Thomas.

    Gosh! I wasn’t even thinking about static grass; until I saw this. Now, I want to build one, so I guess I’ll soon have static grass!😊

    Using the soldering iron to heat shrink? Why have I never thought of that? Worked well in the end though! How's Bugsy doing?

    Get better results by sticking your ground wire in the glue. Also, if you are making clumps of grass, Place some baking paper over a metal tray, ground to the metal tray.
    The baking paper releases the clumps of grass easily.

      Thanks Wayne, I'll try that next time.

    Made a similar one with the tub to contain the grass.

    If you want to turbo charge it try a Ion generator module, Thats what the pro machines use, I managed to get a cheap static machine but it still uses the bug zapper circuit, so as Tim the toolman taylor use to say more power.

    Maybe add a cellphone vibrator module to it connected to the same on switch so when you turn it on, it automatically agitates itself.

      Sounds awesome, but way above my skill level.

    Outside the box is a good thing. Your homemade static grass thingy works better than my store bought one. Is there a train show in Ancaster this Sunday do you know?

    • @ScottRails
      @ScottRails  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, train show on Sunday at the fairground. $5 entry, 9.30 opening.

    Most excellent, try slapping a 9 Volt battery in there. A fairly easy modification. From whom did you buy the grass from? My wife laughed when she saw your workbench as it looks way too much like mine. Take care and have a good one.

      Sounds like a plan. Got the grass of Amazon, but I wouldn't recommend it to be honest. Very clumpy.

      @@ScottRails They sell grinders. Works well, though my grass smells different... Like your channel and speech, thanks.

    Grass! Shamash!
    Let's see someone make a good video, on a quick way to make inexpensive real looking, saguaro cactus. Plus, less the mess.
    I think a flat metal strainer would work better, more metal conductive area above. They do have them. But good oh!
    Cheers!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      Yeah, I thought about mashing the mesh flat. I'll try that. I did see someone making very nice cactuses...cacti? Wait, was it you?

    • @RonStanek
      @RonStanek ปีที่แล้ว

      @ScottRails yeh, I found one, but it's kind of time-consuming and a bit of a mess. But they do look great.

    Honestly: how long did all of that take you? I would estimate about 5 hrs (not considering the video tasks) and a lot of trouble, to save 50$ or so… There has a to a simpler/faster way…
