  • Today's walk takes in Pulborough, West Chiltington and Thakeham. And I find more than I ever imagined.

We moved to a beautiful village in the Kentish weald, my wife was given a copy of her family tree researched by an Australian relative. She was not that interested so I took a look. It revealed that her ancestors originally came from the village that we were now living in. So in three hundred years her ancestors had moved a total of fourteen miles and she had unknowingly moved back again. The local primary school used the fourteenth century church for Friday assemblies. I love the thought that my sons go to the same church that her ancestors worshipped in, evidenced by the grave stones.

Before I went to England and Scotland I never would have thought it would be such a great place for walking / hiking. There are so many public rights of way, foot paths and canal tow paths. Distances are not great and there are so many interesting things to see and so much history. I walked the Thames path to Winsor and Runnymede, went walking on Isle of White, and did the West Highland Way from Glasgo to Fort William, and continued along the Tow Path along the Caladonian Canal to Fort August on Loch Ness.

There's way too much of interest in this video that I don't know where to start. It would have been surreal walking around the areas your ancestors walked before you. I can understand your desire to get back there, it is truly a beautiful landscape. I guess the question remains if it was indeed the "house from New Orleans" 😁

Surprised someone of your leanings didn't comment (at 1.12) on the possibility of your family connections to the Menzies clan. 😉😊

Panademic has closed many places, Google can’t keep up. So you are intermittent fasting?
Exciting the find the family plots, I’ve never found any.
