I want to validate how you’re feeling! I think it makes so much sense and giving yourself some grace to feel the feels is okay! I moved across the country about a year ago, without any of my family though so a little different. It took a few months and I would just highly suggest finding the little things that bring you joy. Find a new favorite coffee spot. A new favorite park for you and the boys. Decorating your favorite cozy spot in your house, etc. You’ve got this!

Thank you for this video. I personally have been waiting for it, wondering how you are doing. The reason I enjoy your videos are because you share about your life. I don't watch the cash stuffing videos of others when it is only about the cash stuffing. I want to learn about the people I choose to spend my time watching. It will take time to get settled and making friends can even take a year but you will. I'm looking forward to the shop opening.

It sounds like things aren't fully settled and yes in general moving takes new routines, all the stuff is a lot to do. Once they are settled with you i think mentally it'll feel calmer.
    Glad to see another video.

I love the vlog idea because I love here about what is going on and your thought processes. I am feeling good, I hope you are feeling good with settling in to your new place. I was an Army brat and moved a lot, it takes a while but transitions are hard and you just need be open to your new place. You’ll do great have faith in yourself. I would say it took me a year to feel connected to my new place and to feel disconnected to the old. Please share how you’re doing with the move. 😊

Solid six months after the move, but a part of the comfort comes with routine. When the grocery store is familiar, you've been to the post office a bit, you know when the schedule for activities at the library.
After a move there are all these decisions you have to make all over again. When you're running errands, the right order to do them. When is the traffic the lightest, where's a good place to get coffee?
Plan your ideal week, try to do those things, PLAN on there being hiccups (because you're in the information gathering stage) and...see what works best for your family.
Not knowing which store did or did not have my favorite creamer was a super unfun game when I moved. So many "simple" tasks to reacquaint with new surroundings.

I made a major move from Canada to Tennessee when my children were 2 and a newborn. We had no family here and it was not until we joined a church did I start making friends. I don’t make friends easily so it was stressful for me with such young children. It will get better just give yourself time. Once your family moves there it will be easier also.

Moving is hectic!!! And it seems like there's always curve balls thrown with unexpected things. My last move was across the state, it took prob close to a year to really settle in with acclimating and establishing new routine. I can't imagine moving everyone and renovating, it's alot. I'm happy to hear your creativity and spark is coming back, I hope unpacking and having a space for your shop and videoing will make it even more enjoyable! Just do what you can and enjoy. I look forward to your content and shop restocks!

Honestly, it took me 3 months to get out of that funk. It's ok to feel that way because we are essentially mourning the friends we were used to. Once you're settled in more you'll see the good things that are awaiting you. I think you did move at a weird time because school is different up north. I do find it odd that there's no neutral school for your kiddos. 🤔 I live next door (illinois) and there are plenty here. I'm so glad you're putting up your shop soon because I ran out of everything for my planners. 😢 I hope you get a lot of orders to help you out with income. WE MISSED U, JORDAN! 😭💕✨️💕✨️

Rent a storage unit at a storage unit place, turn it into your office/warehouse. If you're set up like an S-corp (even if you're just sole proprietor) you can write off the monthly fee as a business expense and it help you to have a different environment to work at. Hoping all the best for you. Hugs from Florida, Carolena

Moved from NY(18yrs) to Fl (1.5yrs) to GA(14 yrs) to IN (currently 21 yrs). In my experience it takes about 6 months to start to feel at home and the older you are the harder and takes longer to adjust. The kids adjusted before and easier than we did. Did they miss their friends yes but they made new friends and developed a new routine. You will adjust and everything will fall into place.

We moved from California to Georgia with 3 kids under 4 years old,( one was 10 days old!) Talk about a culture shock! Lol We had our church family,( LDS ), which was as a lifesaver but everything else was tough at first,( it was a job related move and had never even seen the town!) My husband was warned to enter through the “good side of town” so the wife wouldn’t freak out, well guess who forgot?! Within a few months we loved it, especially the wonderful people; my kids cried when we finally moved 12 years later. I’m sure you will do fine. God bless!

Definitely feel the feelings!! Having a good cry with someone who you trust and screaming when alone in the car can let out some of the uncomfortable feelings in a healthy way. You don't want to stuff feelings. Everything your talking about is normal, leaving friends behind is very painful, how about giving one of them a call? Do something physical, like taking a long hike or if you wish some deep cleansing breaths and maybe a little yoga. I hope some of these things we are saying can bring you some peace, Jordan. Keep your eyes on the prize, your doing this to help your boys health!!

It’s ok to feel your feels and miss your friends especially when things are still sorta up in the air. Personally being unsettled and not knowing how big changes are going to actually play out causes me alot of anxiety for me. I will say I’m definitely surprised by the fact of no secular home school coops or whatnot. Especially since you’re no longer in the Bible Belt.

I move every 3 ish years, I'm in the military, and it takes TIME. Your feelings are valid, these emotions are normal, and it will get better! There is no set timeline on how any one person will deal, but you will get there! Also, you did not move with your parents, so that's a big difference too as mentally you were planning to have them there during this period as well! 💚💚

I live in Iowa --- south of the Des Moines area. There are so many homeschooling resources in Iowa, keep looking into it. Yes, a lot of the groups are religious-based, but I know there are many people who homeschool and are not doing it for religious reasons. It may be that it will take you time, but I'm sure you will find others that are wanting community like you. And there are beaches, just not the kind you are used to -- tons of lakes with beaches. So I limit myself to one hour of active news watching a day…. Sometimes I skip a day. As for moving, it is tough to do. I moved from my home state to another state by myself, work really saved me during that time. Create a routine, and if you can join a class, or gym or something along those lines. It will get better.

this may sound crazy... but can you set up in a climate controlled storage unit with access to electricity? my grandpa has done that for years with his lawn care service.

@@JordanBudgets it's a great homeschool program. One of my friend's daughter has been in it since she was 6 and now 16. She got really big into sewing and now designing her own clothes and thinking of opening her own clothing line. The same friend, have sons get into art and now sells paintings at farmers markets in the area. You can learn so much in 4H and they are great for homeschooling families.

Yes! There are honestly some really great spots all over/around the midwest for medical needs. I picked Des Moines because I had family move here and I wanted to be by them, and we are a pretty short drive to better/bigger hospital systems when we need them. =) ❤

I say this with all love, maybe try a religious community? I don’t know what your history is obviously but as a person of faith I suggest giving it a try ❤ we moved and our new church community has been a huge blessing

Everyone always says a year, but 1 would say it takes 2 to really feel at home. It will be okay Jordan, just stay with it, moving is hard, but so worth it. It is a whole new start and it will be okay just take stuff one thing at a time. Get school figured out, Then get healthcare, then work and Etsy, then.....whatever. Dont let yourself get overwhelmed that way, just take one thing at a time. It is so normal to feel sad and lost at first, it will feel better soon, but it takes time. Hang in there girl

Missed you so glad you’re back with us !!! Glad your shop back opened ! I don’t watch the news much I get so depressed . I moved from Alabama to Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. I love the town country town, but they had no middle of the road. Churches, you had to be a religion and the religion I Is Methodist I could not find a Methodist Church. And the others well we didn’t believe in the same thing let me put it that way. And then the cost of living was so high. We couldn’t live there. We couldn’t afford to buy a home there. I did not need a 300,000 to a 500,000 home. The prices of the older homes were just that high. So we moved back to Alabama. We still have a home here thank the Lord we hadn’t sold it. I don’t know how you pay your bills how many jobs you have to have in Pennsylvania, but I’m retired and I wasn’t going back to work. You will fall back in order quick you got this!!!!!

I moved from South Carolina to TX at the end of 2022. I literally just got adjusted. My mom passed in March to 2023 in SC, so they may have contributed to my issues. As far as homeschooling, I'd search FB groups for secular homeschool co-ops in (your city or county) That's how we found ours. I'm Christian and still choose to homeschool secularly. I'd rather leave our religious teachings to our pastor who is educated in that area than random moms who are not.

You moved pretty far away. You also moved to a state that can have 4 seasons in one day lol. I live in Iowa so I know. There are going to be really sad days until you venture out and find community resources. Try to find a homeschool coop for the boys, the science center is great, the zoo when it warms up, go to Homemakers clearance center, trust me it's a must :)

Your energy is still there and it’s honest!
Moving is hard. I’ve never moved far away (other than college/university), but I know people who have. Can your boys join Boy Scouts or 4-H, to meet friends. (The boys will be fine. Kids are pretty adaptable to moves. Most of us don’t keep the same friends from elementary school forever. Some do, but many don’t. And it’s okay!) The boys joining a club will also mean you can get involved and meet people. Also for you see if there is a women’s network for entrepreneurs in your area. You might have to wait until your parents get here to watch the boys.
(And would your boys consider public school next year? It’s a new area and ideally you won’t have the same problems you did before! Again, would give them a place to meet people!)

Welcome to Iowa, sorry you are struggling. I've lived in various states and it usually took 6 mos to a year to get used to a new part of the country. (I don't have kids)
If you decide to get an apartment read the lease carefully. There are places that don't allow you to run a business out of your rental. I've seen many TH-camrs run their businesses out of a climate controlled storage unit. You might look at a homeschooling group in the Ames or other outlying areas. In Iowa we are used to driving miles for resources.

    • @JordanBudgets
      @JordanBudgets  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you! I think I just need more time. Ohhh very smart, I'll make sure to read the lease. I initially thought I would get a storage unit but the more I think about it I'd really benefit from being able to set up a designated filming spot and being able to run cutting machines at odd hours. (Things I won't be able to do at home or in a storage unit.) I'll consider weighing the options and I'll bring you guys along for the ride. ❤❤❤ I'll continue searching for homeschool groups, I hadn't considered Ames but you're right I may just need to widen my search a little bit. I'm sure we will figure it all out.. I'm just all in my feels this week.

How are you liking IA? We moved from CO to IA 3.5 years ago. As much as I loved CO and want so badly to go back, it’s gotten so bad there that we’re pretty much stuck in IA, especially since our daughter wants to move here because even with her excellent, we’ll paying job in CO, she’ll never be able to buy a house in CO. Here, in IA, she can get a nice house for way, way, WAY less than she’d be paying for rent. Hope you will be very happy in IA. People are very nice, it’s a safe place to live…but not a whole lot of scenery, compared to CO. Good luck to you and your boys.

I have moved lots of times due to my husband being in the military and the gloomy feeling after a move is completely normal! It took me like a year because I stayed in my feelings! 🫠😂 It will take a while to adjust and rebuild. I’m not sure what area you are in, but I am born and raised in Iowa (and my entire family is still in Iowa) and I know my sister homeschools in Ames and I don’t think what she does is not religious based. Maybe it’s just the area? I have family all over the state so if you are comfortable to let me know what area I might have some friends there that could give me some info about the area! I have my own TH-cam channel that has my email listed if you want to reach out. Hang in there!
