Amare Stoudemire had been criticized for just about everything: his defense, his rebounding, even his desire. The Phoenix forward listened calmly all week, then responded with a monster game. Stoudemire attacked the Los Angeles Lakers relentlessly, matching his career playoff high with 42 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to power the Suns to a 118-109 victory Sunday night. The win sliced the Lakers' lead in the Western Conference finals to 2-1.
BOXSCORE: espn.go.com/nba...
One of the most athletic bigs in nba history (in his prime)
IBMCREW1 Exactly. He was 6' 11" doing guard like vertical & adjustments in mid air, with a soft touch around the rim.
But he also had his post moves and fundamentals , him and hakeem or him.and shaq would be unstoppable.
He reminds me of giannis
Still my favorite player to this day #STAT
Was kinda hoping for an entire Series from someone... but that takes more work too. So thanks anyway!
Prime and healthy Amare made Pau Gasol look so...Soft!
that was KG.....not Amare
Paul Gasol is soft
Pau is European they're all soft.
If it wasn't for the knee injuries, he could've redefined the PF position.Even the Amare in this video isn't what he could've been. He'd alread had 2 microfracture procedures by that point. He was an amazing combination of speed, power, and finesse.Had the first step of a shooting guard and great touch around the basket. He's one of the top 5 basketball prospects of the last 15 years imo.Injuries and D'antoni's no defense basketball stunted his growth
The fact that the Suns swept the Spurs still blows my mind.
***** i live in phoenix and we couldnt believe it either we had fans crying and some yelling there mind off i was in 6th grade then now im a senior in high school in 2 weeks and honeslty i miss these days ):
+Stefon Williams I'm in college now but I only say the Lakers play the Celtics in this post season. Kobe was really that guy at this time and he could've been MVP for those past 3 years. Coming from a Heat fan.
Man... Suns fans (including me) were so happy. The year before Stern pulled that bullshit and suspended Diaw and Stoudemire in game 7 so Phoenix lost. That series was a revenge set and they busted the SAS asses
They were capable of beating them. the 07 series was one which handicapped them with the Amare Diaw suspensions from the horry hip check. This time without Marion, swept them but ran into a Kobe Gasol led depth Lakers team
Brings back nostalgia of these great Western Conference rivalries...Lakers Suns are both obsolete now lol. Stoudemire, Nash, Bryant, Gasol, Bynum...all at or near their primes. Great series
Leonardo Aldecocea ikr?
Man I miss this combo, could you upload the whole game? That would be sick!
YES upload it
I can't believe this was only four years ago, he has regressed so badly in the last three years. The Knicks front office never cared to put a decent point guard on his side.
Especially when they got Melo.
he can still play 80% of this, but not given the opportunity to. The guards they have had are absolute shit... Raymond Felton, not even worth to be a backup PG at this point. Maybe if Lin stayed but the way Lin's progressed, doesn't look like he wouldn't have done much either, but who knows... but yes, all the guards on NY been absolute garbage. When Kidd was there, Amare was constantly hurt.
***** Felton is no longer with the team. This season Amar'e has been outstanding in his limited minutes, maybe Larkin, Calderon and Prigioni have something to do with it.
ElTuco84 Nah, in his first year in NY with Felton as his point-guard he still went off and had just as good a season as any he had in Phoenix. It all went to shit when Melo came and purged the team of depth and chemistry. It also didn't help that D'Antoni got fired since his pick and roll heavy offense gave Amare plenty of opportunities to score. All things considered, he's still not as bad a player as everyone makes him out to be. Still a threat off the pick and roll, still pretty athletic and is definitely efficient. He's should be a very solid rotation player in Miami with Dragic and Wade diming him.
BrbAtTheGym Totally agree, Amar'e in his prime was more lethal than Blake Griffin.
If only he didn't have bad knees..
Plus the bogus tech foul and suspension ...
Phoenix last competitive year under Nash. I really wanted them to win.
So did I and I'm not even a Suns fan. They were pure fun to watch.
Wad Jay same, I was young and this team was my fuel and fire. Loved them to death, always still a Suns fan.
It was a tight series (Ron Artest putback in g5!). I actually think they could have won this series if gentry had gone to the zone earlier in the series.
Wad Jay Yup this was the suns last playoff game
I'm from the future they're good in 2021 with CP3 and Devin Booker
people forget how a monster he was back then, especially when he was still wearing 32
He was sensational as #32. An animal
Suns should've won this series. Kobe got so fucking lucky with Artest's last second put back.
Umm that's why the Suns didn't deserve to win because someone on the other team regardless if it was Kobe or not made the put back tooo bad. Also you had a chance to redeem yourselves with Game 6 and take it to Game 7 but you lost by 8pts
Artest was the reason they were there in the first place when he shot a three pointer instead of holding the ball lol
Yeah that Artest putback changed the momentum of the series
This was one of Kobe's best series ever.
Absolutely, and as a subs fan, back than it pissed me of, but now I'm really glad our lost only came because another GOAT player had us beat, nothing is wrong losing to such a legendary player. We've beaten Kobe before in 2006 & 2007, but this was the Suns best year due to having the quick offense and better defense than what mike d Antoni had them, and Kobe had a team he was with the best since his Shaqs duo days. Also amare was such a beast power foward.
First series I ever watched lol I was 16
People don't mention how incredibly tough the west was for those 5 years.
Forgot how good this guy was, damn time flies
I could've sworn this wasn't too long ago.. Damn. 4 years already
6 years
been almost 4 years since this comment
3 months later now
dxburner222
*8 years now*
Time have it's fancy
Amare was always full of energy. Just look how he's walking back to the locker room with that pep in his step lol looks like he's ready to play again LOL
The phoniex Suns were the reason I started watching the NBA when I was younger I loved Nash and a young amare also the matrix Shawn Marion I wish the kept joe Johnson with that team they may have snuck a championship in. But the Suns at these years were the highest scoring team in the league they were televised all the time
Today's 2023 nba bigman is busy on
Shooting 3's
God damn
I miss watching
Bigman working on the paint
2000's and 2010's was the basketball I grew up watching and honestly best era. The transition from old to new NBA, the players so good. Besides the abundance of 3's teams take in modern NBA now I'm glad there's no more super teams. Duo's with solid role players.
NBA was ass since 2015, or basically Since Stern retired
IF I COULD TURN BACK TIMEEEEEEEEE
Bitch pussy
Two plus two not knowing what the fuck it is bitch.
+ThugMelo Anthony fake meloyes sir
ThugMelo Anthony The playoffs were so exciting back then
1:06 man when u heard this song it was rly abt to fuckin go down
This version of him couldn't be guarded AT ALL
32 phoenix suns 2005...better than blake grifin
completely agree w tha
I think Blake is a more complete player than Amar'e was
+Brandon White nah
Brandon White nah, he had Chris Paul which I'm not gonna lie is slightly better then Nash without going to WCF's, Amare did with Nash. Amare > Griffin
N8ve Jay Chris Paul better than Nash? 😂
Melo killed this dude's career
Awall12454 The Knicks front office
Yup, it was the Knicks FoSho
Could've been up there withTim Duncan, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Kevin Garnett as one of the greatest power forwards of all-time..if only he never had those knee problems and microfracture surgeries. Robbed him of his insanely explosive athleticism, first step, an jump-out-of-the-gym abilities. Just look at the highlights when he wore #32 to see what I'm talking about.
Duncan and KG both knew he was a worthy adversary.
He was remarkable. I don't know what led to his injury but what a shame
Probably the bet offensive power forward of the 2000s
do lebron vs the pistons in 07
do melo 41 vs the mavs in 08 with the game winner
Kobes 40 in game 1 vs the magic
the allen iverson vince carter battles
if im asking for too much my bad lol
Those are sensational games!
imagine if the suns played defense..wow scary
2010 was the post-d'antoni era. Under gentry the defense was much improved. Grant Hill, Jason Richardson, Robin Lopez were key defenders on the team. Something the suns didn't have in 2005
I really wished Shawn still with Phoenix that year
Tell me a PF/C more athletic than Amare? Theres only a few like Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard, but Amare had the mid range jump shot since early on, if he was a little better on defense or playmaking he would be considered in the top 7 best PF of all time in my opinion!
If you had told me ten years ago that Tim Duncan and Amar'e would retire the same year I'd have laughed at you.
tbr2109 if you had told me, Tim Duncan, Kobe, KG, and Amare Stoudamire would all retire in the same year I wouldn't be surprised. What surprises is that Vince Carter and Dirk Nowitzki are still playing.
Amar'e is my favorite player all time! Shout out to the spurs for giving him trouble but without the knee and retina surgery easy Hoffer! I am hoping he gets in along with Trix
Someone send this to Deandre Ayton
he strength was unlike no other. .they was scared of this dude. .
Just what i needed,Damn Amare was a beast! i think he's starting to get back to this play nice upload
The way he's playing now is very similar to this game. A lot of pick and roll, a lot of facing up and attacking the basket, much less isolation in the low post.
One of my fav players of all time. Loved Amare.
My goodness Amare was quick! Explosiveness defined. Blake Griffin just doesn't have that same pop that amare has with every move he makes
Stoudemire is now an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi and he lives in Israel. I kid you not!
dbook breaks this record today!!! smoosh~
we saw how he was stronge
gotta go back a few years n get an even nastier stoudemire🔥🔥
@7:40 LMAO @ 32 3s in a game being "way too many."
he was a nightmare for a center.
except Timmy
steve nash and amare was like stokton and malone a little bit
Miss you so much. My childhood memory
First highlight of the game... His cutting ability and great feet work. So pretty
Imagine if the trade to Cleveland had went through...
Would be a different 2010 post season for sure.
Yeah Amare would've turned into a soft no defense jumpshooter standing around watching LeBron kill ants on the perimeter for 20 seconds like Chris Bosh did
RIP MAMBA
good bye Stoud
Back in the day when a team could get Amar'e Stoudemire's knees insured....
Damn, Amare was on track to be the current Anthony Davis.
2000 - 2010 The west is so stacked
Paul pierce final mvp 2008
I love 2010-11 suns.
Back when Amar'e was one of the best centers in the league.
he was a beast
This is when the nba was exciting
When healthy, one of the best if not the best in his era
Amare Stoudemire one of my favorite Forward
and i just found out that goran dragic and lopez have been playing in NBA since many years ago
omg thanks so much. Love Amare
he cant do this aqnymore
he can.. but what's his incentive to..... he's already gotten his money... think about it.. :D funny thing is.. it happens in every sport.. a guy has a big year before getting his big pay day.. then a new team acquires him in free agency and overpays and never get the same production... lol..
Streetsmart1984 bullsht.... dont question his heart.. it isnt about the money. he produced this last year but didnt get the playing time. he stays in shape year round and is always prepared.
Streetsmart1984 he seem to be getting back into form when he was given the minutes. I can see him producing as long as the Knicks pass the ball and does not remain stagnant or fall in love with the jumper.
Streetsmart1984
No, it's injuries.
Streetsmart1984 its the injuries and the melo syndrome that he can't perform like this anymore..
I love this era of NBA.
Is it me or the hoop was larger at Phoenix back then? :D
If amare played like this from the first two games in la they could have one the series... amare can dominate if he wanted... the problem is his consistency and to perform at a high lvl all the time..
nope :) do you even watch basketball ??
Joe Nash in order for phx to win amara had to go for 30+ n be efficient
SDS Overfiend hes right dumbass
look at those passes from nash
Standing tall and talented = S.T.A.T.
Spoiler alert: Lakers won the championship
yea we all know
Still surprises me this suns team couldn't win the west. They were stacked
the owner is greedy as hell
back when amare was great
too many fucking replays.
he owned the league. . he would've been the beat center ever if it wasn't for the injuries. .
That's reaching lmao
Lol. . He had tenacity on the boards like Barkley. Jump shot. Finished well at the rim. Defense. Complete player
+Yreelz he was a monster. . most ferocious.
+John Jacobs crest start stuffer to
+John Jacobs except he plays power forward and can't guard a leaf blowing in the wind. Great offensive pick and roll player and is great from the elbow but injuries hindered him. Excellent, classy, player. But to say he would be the best center ever shows you don't have much of a clue what you're talking about
As a Suns fan, I wish Ayton can have that tenacity that Amare plays with.
If only someone blocked out Ron Artest...
I miss these days :(
Thise wer games real starz not this boring nba shit since d last reals starz dirk kg kobe duncan retired dat wen nba got boring
Im a top fan of amare the destroyer stoudemire lang sakalam
So that's how Nash looks like on a basketball court
Wish he could play like this now
he's too old and wore out now sadly :-/
Kerr should never have gotten shall
he is from lake Wales Florida where few make it out
Yeah he was a problem in Phoenix
I wish luka has a big like amare
Dallas will revive his knees
this was when I followed the NBA most closely and watched the most games... damn lakers. But man can't believe it's now a "throwback" game.
Such an easy game. I don’t know why big guys can’t play like this. Just power and get to the hoop. Nice mid range jumper to keep them honest and use your point guard. Big guys make it so hard on themselves. This isn’t even peak STAT. This is post microfracture.
Suns need to bring this man back this year he will return to this now with Chriss Bender Booker Warren Chandler Tucker Knight Bledsoe Barbosa Dudley Len Ulis Goodwin
What's the name of the soundtrack in the beginning ??
Gotta do a throwback of Dragic against the Spurs in game 3 of the playoffs. Dragic went crazy in that 4th quarter.
what a waste. poor amare
Now he's gonna be back again with Dragić, can't wait!
how many pf/c dropped 40 on that Lakers front line? no-one not even Dirk
nother great played destroyed by injuries
Man miss az these were rivalries la and suns and suns and spurs
My young boi
04:15 crazy
I remember Pau Gasol what great player!
wut did they do to ma dawg amare in tha tumbnail.
aye who was fighting at 3:26
Ahhh the good ole days
