    This video was so much better than your last budgie diet recommendations. Love how your budgies are allowed to fly, play and be social. Still think your budgie diet recommendations need improvement. Fats don't make budgies fat. It's the foods that spike insulin (more on that later). The problem with seed fat is that they are high in omega 6 and this causes inflammation. A little amount of seeds is ok (1 tsp/ budgie/ day). It is better to sprout the majority of the seeds (I grow in dirt) because it reduces the omega 6 and produces more vitamin A precursors, the starches are converted into soluble fibre and some sugars and the photosynthesis produces magnesium. The vitamins are more biologically available. Budgies require lots of high fibre greens. Grasses are their preferred greens because the balance is perfect. Offer 1/4 cup per day/ budgie. One needs a variety of grasses... oats, wheat, couch, Johnston... the more the better. I have a variety of grass flower pots. They require some dark greens in moderation (careful with oxalic acid) Dark greens include clover, alfalfa, mustard leaves, amaranth, rocket, dandelion leaves, kale, lettuce. Budgies love the tops of root vegetables such as carrot tops and beet tops. Budgie food is more accessible in the park and the sidewalks than the supermarket. Sweet fruit is what makes most budgies fat. There is a big difference between glucose ( found in greens) and fructose found in fruit. Fructose causes excessive insulin spikes, The chemical reaction in the liver is practically identical to alcohol ( without the brain buzz). Fructose is directly converted ti fat in the liver and stored around internal organs such as the heart . This causes metabolic disease. The appropriate amount of fruit is the size of the budgies' beak and feed once a month as a very special treat. Feeding a budgie a large lump of fruit is the equivalent to feeding a small child six beers... not the best idea. Budgies do require good fats. In the wild they eat a few bugs. In the city most bugs are highly toxic. Some boiled egg replaces the bugs( 1/8 tsp/ budgie twice a week) provides all fat and fat soluble vitamins. Budgies require vitamin D. It's important they have direct sunlight (not through glass) close to midday for about 1 hour. Cuttle fish or finely ground up eggshell sprinkled over vegetables meets the calcium requirements.

    Hey! So, I’m looking for some advice for my birds, so if anyone could help, that would be AMAZING!!!!👍😁😊So, I have four parakeets that are living in a VERY large flight cage. Two of which are newly introduced, because I recently rescued them from an owner who no longer wanted them. So the problem is, occasionally throughout the day, they have begun to pick on one of the birds in the cage, and also just pick on each other in general. I have tried separating them before because I do not want them to get hurt or have food taken from each other, but as soon as I separate them, they CONSTANTLY try to get back to each other, and when I open the cage, they fly right back to each other. So, is anything else I can do to prevent this? I have made sure there is plenty of food and a bowl of food and water for everyone. There is also many toys and activities to keep them busy. So, any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! I just want the best for my birds, because I love them all SOOOO much!!!! Thank you!!!!👍😁😊🦜🦜🦜🦜

    The way you know that your Budgie needs more greens and less fruit and seeds is to observe the area under the beak. If there's a fat build up around the neck it indicates fat build up around internal organs. it's time to modify the diet. English budgies are the equivalent to chicken broilers. They have been bred to produce a lot of insulin so they will grow fast. These budgies need to have their food supply controlled because they are capable of eating themselves to death... it's hard to overeat with greens so make that the most available food for English budgies.

    Can I feed my budgies a mixture of veggies and grains as the main part of their diet? I know that pellets are a great and healthy alternative, but they are super hard to find where I live. Btw, your videos are really helpful btw:)

    • @HermitCrabCrew
      @HermitCrabCrew ปีที่แล้ว

      Most pellets are actually super unhealthy and have ingredients such as sugar,oils,corn and fruit. Fruit should be offered as a treat not as an everyday part of their diet. Corn has no nutritional value and is used as a filler ingredient. I think the oils and sugar speak for themselves in how unhealthy they are. BirdTricks has very healthy pellets made of very nutritional veggies and even those pellets shouldn't be fed as an alternative of fresh veggies, they need to be along with a seasonal feeding system. If you want your bird/birds to be healthy please check out BirdTricks on youtube they have amazing budgie and parrot care. Link to proper diet: th-cam.com/video/IrOBcncx_f0/w-d-xo.html

    Budgies need a variety of different plants . In the wild budgies eat apart from grasses, a variety of flowers and tree tips. It's hard to find the Australian plants in other parts of the world. Sone edible flowers that are readily available for budgies are dandelion, rocket, paloverde, clover, mustard, broccoli, rose. Some edible tree tips (in small quantities) include pomegranate, peach, pear, birch, linden, moringa. They like a small amount of vine leaves such grape, and from the squash family.

      Target and clicker training to start off put the bird’s cage in a room you spend most of your time in you can go on youtube to find out how to target and clicker train them. he/ she will realize you=good things like water, food, ,sounds (but not loud ones) move your hands around in their cage slowly when putting food and water in until they are calm when you do it. Feed them seeds or millet from your hand over time put the seeds or millet just out of their reach and they will probably step up on your hand. Good luck!

    • @meeramenon2215

      Diet should be 30% veggies (NOT FRUITS) 20% seeds (only for training treats) 50 %pellets for one budgie 1 tablespoon pellets 1/2 tablespoon veggies fruits contain too much sugar and cause fatty liver disease get rid of the millet spray IMMEDIATELY. millet is only for training treats not for daily food it's a dessert to be earned also instead of seeds use pellets I can explain good cheap brands if you want slowly transition them on to pellets by putting less seed and more pellet in gradually if they don't eat it add very little water to soften it.

      @crynxlizzy4770 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay sorry for the late response but go onto birdtricks store and go to freebies and download her free feeding chart this will give you an idea of what you need for your parrot, also lettuce usually does not have nutritional value so if that's the only green then no that diet will not work out and some carrots, this diet is lacking in a lot which you will see when you check the feeding chart also fruits like bananas and apples are only to be fed maximum 3 times a week. If you would like a honest review the diet you are giving is sugary and has no nutritional value except the few nutrients you get from the carrots and the little from the apples and bananas which will be useless with all that sugar and make sure you are giving pellets, and transition their diet

      Cut fruits into really small peices and put them in with seed. A few weeks later use slightly larger sizes and feed them by hand. Keep increasing the sizes until they aren't scared anymore. Or just keep giving them small slices if your fine with that.
