- Note: This demo is done on personal TV and works well but cannot guarantee that will do the same on other TCL TV. Any firmware or software update may be risky and can cause damage to the product.
Here is a demo of my firmware upgrade / update on TCL C715 Android TV. I upgraded from software version V620 to V660 using update image file downloaded from the web.

I have a TCL C728 I was waiting for the Google TV update but I haven’t got it through automatic updates so I found it V407 IMG and V418 OTA do you think I should update or they will send the update and how can I use the OTA update is it just like the IMG one?
If you are not having issue or problem with the TV, I think I will leave as it is. Upgrading is risky and may encounter a new problem. So it is all up to you. I think OTA can be installed using local update.

What is the difference between the two? I read about better image quality with V660?
It looks a bit better video quality to me. Also, the software is more stable now compared before where I often need to restart for not connecting to broadband or some software crash.

To be safe, you have to download firmware for exact TV model you have.
Hi David, the c815 was most expensive qled model but it's stuck with Android 9 and no updates..

The last version for p725 is v560 for google tv, and it will reset your tv and wipe all your data

Tv is tcl C715 50' qled software version pre installed V8-R851T02-LF1V389 android 9, since then it never received any ota update I am from Pakistan I downloaded v677 from a forum wanted to ask is the hardware(processor) same for Pakistan as European tcl if you can guide please 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Best is to ask TCL or from forum with many people who experienced doing it. I also tried my luck based on the info from forum. But I guess it is still risky to just update it. Good luck!
I tried with v660, v715, v716 all show error "VALIDATION OF UPDATE PACKAGE FAILED". Let me know if you have any solution to that, 😞
