The movie starts off with a bunch of school-mates joining the same Arts College and deciding to be together as a group. Muthu (Akhil) is an integral member of this group who bond strongly as they all come from poor backgrounds while believing that their friendship is platonic and above trivial college crushes and romances. Their classmate Shobhana (Tamanna) joins this motley group and pretty soon they are strong vibes between the urban English speaking Shobhana and the rustic Muthu. They decide to ignore these feelings since they are made to believe that their love would ruin the friendships amongst the group and so they continue with this denial for many reels and reducing audience patience levels until they are ready to acknowledge their love. But by then, it is too late thanks to a tragic event where Shobhana loses her life.
