  • Hello friends!
    I bought this Holbein granulating watercolors in Japan. It is not yet available online but I hope it will be soon.
    It's my first time trying granulating watercolors so I'm still learning how to use it. Have you tried anything like this?😃

    It’s absolute torture to watch swatching of the new Holbein granulating colours while they’re still not available in Canada… can’t wait

      Right?!?! And all the American YTers that seem to have bought them somehow will say where they bought them, but I go there and everything Holbein makes is on the site but that. Or it's a Japanese site that I can't read and uses third party shippers to ship worldwide. I couldn't even add to my basket even clicking everything, it would lead me to the third party shippers to set up a subscription with them, product info, friggin TWITTER, but apparently nothing was "add to cart" LOL! I'm gonna mix the f*ckers myself since everyone shows the pigments used.🤣🤣

    Granulating colors are my favorite!!! You've never used them before?!?!? Let them separate and do their magic, use plenty of water with them, and that's all you need to do! And you swatched them PERFECTLY! You already know what to do!

    I'm a little underwhelmed by these, to be honest - not your fault, you did a great job showcasing them! Some of the colors look interesting, but a lot of them don't seem to have much of an effect. It's nice that more brands are coming out with granulating mixes so consumers can choose what is cheapest and easiest available in their part of the world. But it also feels like everything has already been done. These don't add anything new to the watercolor world. I don't feel like I'm missing anything so I'm not sad that they aren't available where I live.

    Thanks for swatching, they all look great, can’t wait to get some. Pricing is better than other granulated watercolor brands. but I emailed Japan about this product a month ago and they think in Japan MAYBE available in autumn.😢
    Don’t know when available for those of us not in Japan.

    The colors are beautiful. I’m currently on a watercolor no buy until the end of the year (though I broke it twice already 😂). If this set becomes available at the time when my no buy ends, and the price is right, I might consider buying the set. Thank you for sharing.

    Wow these colors are all so beautiful! It seems like none of them are included in their standard sets like the 60 color set I'm receiving soon. They also seem like mostly mixes to achieve the multi-color effects from the granulation on top and a finer ground color on the bottom, like the first parrot pink :) . Do you know if there is any pigment information on the tubes? Im curious if I could try mixing any of these colors myself with the colors i already have! Thanks for sharing these adorable swatches. I love the way you set it up with the little labeled tubes and a lot of room to showcase the paint effects with water.

    I’m very interested in the red and yellow on first sheet. Generally, granulating reds are easy to find; yellows on the other hand are not. I’d be very interested in a comparison of the two, side by side. When Schminke released their super-granulating series I waited till they had a 48 half-pan set available and spent a lot of money on it, on sale, and it’s the most disappointing purchase I’ve ever made. The size of their “half pan” is a joke. I purchased tubes of two, Volcano Yellow and Red, separately, as they’re interesting pigments on their own.
    The one difference between these two releases, that I see, which is an improvement imo, is that when you swatch many of Schminke’s super granulating series, the puddle left behind when it dries leaves a rim. These Holbein paints did not seem to do that. To me that’s a huge improvement. The red and yellow here look like pumped up versions of those Volcano colors. (And when do “we”, the many fans who will buy any new release, no matter the price, draw the line and say “Enough?”, we want New not Rebranded? Yet I await their release in the US. Such is life.)
    Separately, I loved your presentation. Great video and I look forward to more. ☺️

      @verditerthistle 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      btw winsor & newton has a version of volcano yellow called lemon yellow deep. it’s the same pigment, PY159, so it also granulates a lot, but it’s also almost half the price of schmincke, at least where I live :) schminckes supergranulating color are so cool but I agree that they’re too expensive for what you actually get ;-;

      Hi there. I find Holbein to be a solid choice and very easy to work with. They rewet well, are bright, and generally non staining (although there are staining pigments in all brands). I find myself reaching for my HWC for florals and portraits. Their earth tones are good but nothing extra special.
      Daniel smith are great too, their earth color collection is extensive and delightful for animals, landscapes, subjects with texture.
      Overall, if pressed I would have to declare Daniel smith as my preference but im so grateful that so many great choices exist. For further assistance, please check out Jane Blundell’s blog, I love her wealth of knowledge!
      Good luck 👍🏽
