    I know you did this a year ago, but I just bought my first set of sticks and am delighted to discover your video on how to use them (not surprised). Love all the hacks.

    I use these sticks for calligraphy. Very fine and highly pigmented for lightfastness.

    Great tips, you're right I haven't heard or thought of most of them. Excellent timing, too since I heard Daniel Smith is releasing some new stick colors soon! I've used the sticks for a long time, but mostly as a convenient method for making pans, will have to try a few of your techniques :)

      I'm glad these techniques will be useful🙂, and I thank you for mentioning this release. I did not know this at all.

    I have these, and I never thought about running them through a puddle of water! Very helpful! The only thing I ever did was cut a piece off and wet that, or I would use a very wet brush to get some of the paint into a mixing area.

    These are awesome! I only bought 1 stick just to try out because I wasn't sure I would like it and I've researched it (I research basically everything) and knew it was highly pigmented and just like tube/pan paint just in a stick but I just couldn't get out of my head that it's probably like a water souluabe crayon but I was so wrong. The few things that bother me with these is how to store them and having them dry once I'm done using them. I know that ds has specific containers for them but who wants to spend more money on that when we could get another stick? Lol thanks for your tip

    • @paintingandchocolate
      @paintingandchocolate  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I see what you are referring to, mine dry fast on a paper towel then I store them away. I also got them in boxes that are not plastic but still it is convenient.

    Thank you Francoise, such a great tips. I highly recommend all of your videos if someone would love to learn how to create realistic looking paintings. 🤗 It was fun to see the sticks in action from you. I really have seen them performing in just a few videos, but haven’t seen them before as a tips + tutorial. Thank you once again.

    Can you suggest 10 colors to start with. These color stick look like fun. Thank you.

    • @paintingandchocolate
      @paintingandchocolate  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the list would vary depending on the person, I would go for the primaries and for my tastes, colors like Hansa Yellow Deep, Pyrrol Red, ultramarine blue, Titanium white for highlights, burnt umber, lamp black for shadows, maybe I'd add a green like Sap green. These would be my own absolute go-to's if I was to build a palette to start, and then I would add favorite colors or things I think I need like a pink, indigo because I like it. I hope this helps.

      I don't use them often, I prefer the traditional tubes, but yes I enjoy them on the go. I take the white stick with me whenever i teach locally, more convenient than my big gouache tube.
