Manthan Film - "Sisoti Aapni hai, Aapni" Dialogue by Naseeruddin Shah

This clip conveys an important message today when we are on the crossroads of a change in the political system and a war against corruption. As in any change, the people who would benefit from this change are unaware that they are unknowingly resisting the change.
Naseeruddin Shah tries to convince his co-villagers about the benefit of forming a cooperative society for Milk rather than going to the age old milk dealer who was milking them by giving low price for milk. "Society" in this clip is called "sisoti" by villagers. "Sisoti (Society) is ours. We all made mistakes, but now we wanted to together build something new. Pan aa vaat tamari jaadi khopdi ma avati nathi (Why can't you get this right in your fat heads, or, why can't you guys understand such a simple thing)?
This scene very well portrays the frustration of the change driver (Nasiruddin). It depicts the complexity of social change - particularly when the people who would benefit with the change are totally ignorant and resist the change". Film by Shyam Benegal beautifully depicts the problems faced while creating the Milk Co-operative society in Anand, Gujarat, India.
For those who haven't seen the movie, Manthan was about how the people of a village in Anand bring in a change by forming a Milk cooperative society of the people, by the people and for the people. They resist the corrupt and powerful Milk dealer Mishraji who was fleecing them for ages. India is facing a similar situation when a few brave souls have started a movement and political party to represent the common oppressed people to fight the corrupt and powerful politicians. Like the villagers in this clip, we Indians are not getting in our fat heads that "Party aapni hai, aapni" (party is ours).
