Thank you so much! Already working on the next one! And that's good to know, should've checked that before saying so 😅 But I know for aerial starts it isn't needed :)
I watched this video over and over and couldn't get the BSGT OSB to illuminate and it would never take. Was getting so frustrated lol. Thanks for the tip! Finally got it! Great video too btw Mambo!
The TGP covers the lenses when in STBY which is important to make sure nothing scratches the lenses. Overall it's just proper procedures to "safe" the aircraft for takeoff :)
Thank you!! Thank you for watching and and an extra thanks for giving me the super! I really appreciate it and it means so much to me to know that I'm able to help and bring such value to my viewers
Yes! The next in line if all goes according to plan will be a Maverick PRE mode guide and afterwards VIS and BORE modes! Just didn't want to spend 7 minutes of the PRE mode guide talking about boresighting so made this a separate one haha. Stay tuned ;)
I think the new patch messed this process. I use to boresight on the ground using ally trucks or whatever I can find. I do it now, but when I try and find the enemy it is not as aligned before the recent patch.
I heard they did something with the process but haven't tested it yet. Remember setting both your ground jettison to on and master arm to train as I think they modeled that into the last patch :)
I have tested it and PRE mode as a whole seems to not work correctly. Once they fix it you'll have to set ground jettison to ON and master arm to SIMULATE if you want to do the boresighting on the ground. But with PRE mode bugged it won't help much. I guess our best choice for now is using VIS mode :) th-cam.com/video/N-mLGHTqt2w/w-d-xo.html
@Mambo hi MAMBO I've been testing the maverick/TGP alignment and as of 24/12/2022, it won't align properly no matter what on open beta. The alignment process was changed though. Now you have to turn on ground jettison switch and set master arm to simulate.
Amazing and simple..! 👋 As always And i want to ask when the tgp locked on a target and it is on auto mode and i press TMS up twice it passes the target info to the mavric and it lock the target but some times it dosn't.. Why i had to do what you said here? What is the defrence?
You need to boresight the Maverick to align its sensor with all other sensors of the F-16 like the TGP. if you don't the Maverick's sensor will be a bit off to the left/right/up/or down :)
It's not as simple now, as the video shows. Now doing this on the ground the Maverick is almost never exactly aligned on the TGP pod and misses so much that it fails to lock. I also tried to boresight it in the air at a distance of 8-6 nm, but it is still not good and still needs to be controlled manually. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or the Maverick is such an unreliable weapon.
I've heard about people doing it before, especially with an XBOX controller. But HOTAS is definitely the ultimate experience and you don't have to spend too much... The Thrustmaster T16000 is a budget fan favorite from what I've heard!
@@MamboDCS I think it's a step too far especially for multiplayer. Ok in a campaign or single player but for mp where perhaps you have multiple restarts it's such a superfluous step that is not required. Ed should definately put a special option in to auto boresight. They can do it for an air start so a special option would be great. I've also tried to replicate this process and I get to the end where I press the bsgt button then I tms down and the Mav skews back to its off bore original position. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong here?
I like their direction towards realism, but that's just my opinion. And ignore that slight skew after TMS down, when you get to the target it should be fine :)
This got to be the best F16 tutorial I have ever watched. Slow, detailed and covering everything important. Respect!
Thank you so much! That's exactly what I was going for :)
Great tutorial. Keep’em coming !!! ❤️❤️❤️
Small note: You also need to boresight MAVs on hot-start on the ground.
Thank you so much! Already working on the next one!
And that's good to know, should've checked that before saying so 😅
But I know for aerial starts it isn't needed :)
Fantastic video! - I was wondering why my AGM never hit my targets, i think this is why, i simply never knew that they needed to be boresighted.
Yeah, I've been there hahaha. Pretty frustrating until you finally figure out why.
When I hit SP and deselect it, the TGP goes back to the original position…
Great stuff! Looking forward to your next Maverick vids
Thanks you! They're currently in the making ;)
Very good and clean one! Ground jettison should also be enabled irl while boresighting on the ground. :)
Right, I guess it's DCS's fault for allowing to do that without it :P
Just kidding, I'll correct myself in the actual Mavericks video! Thank you!
@@MamboDCS Great videos anyway mate!
Thank you!!

Nice video as always, do not forget after boresight on ground to turn off the mavericks and set your tgp on standby mode for takeoff!
Thank you!! Will keep that in mind :)
what happens if you don;'t

Not sure that's simulated :)
It isn't, but it's fun to play realistically in my opinion :)
Thanks!

all hail king mambo! lol. your tutorials are great!
Hahahaha, thank you dude!
I try my best ;)
Thanks for watching!
IMPORTANT UDAPTE
After the recent update of the viper you need to have ground jett enabled (GND JETT in controls) otherwise it wont work
True. It is mentioned in my F-16 MAV PRE mode video. I'll update this video in the near future :)
bro thank you so much i was getting frusterated
Sorry for the confusion 😅
Hopefully I was able to help :)
Thanks Mambo - big help
Glad to hear it!
Awesome mambo! Can I guess that there's going to be a tutorial on these using the different modes coming up?
Yes! The next in line if all goes according to plan will be a Maverick PRE mode guide and afterwards VIS and BORE modes!
Just didn't want to spend 7 minutes of the PRE mode guide talking about boresighting so made this a separate one haha.

Keep in mind only the IR D & G variants support auto handoff
Yup!
It's covered in my Maverick PRE mode tutorial :)
Love these tutorials
Thank you ❤️
More in the making!
Mambo - good video. I am still learning the 16 and it's quirks. Your video helps!
It's a beast of an aircraft!
Very happy to hear I'm able to help!
Enjoy it!

I will when I get a chance and get back to you :)

I was fighting with it to do its job and most of the time it wins 😂
Yup, but boresighting will make it work with you instead of against you ;)
No need to put the Ground Jettison switch On ?

Parallax error, use a distant target and get it really precise
I’m curious on how playable dcs is without a stick or throttle. I wanna try it but not spend a lot on that before.

I have a hotas, but I still use xbox controller when I’m playing in a place that I can’t really being the hotas with me.
I did fly a10c with just mouse and keyboard for some time but at least xbox controller is very useful
My god ... do you have to do this every time you cold start? No way of skipping? Such a PITA!
Basically, but it's for realism :)
It's not that bad once you get used to it actually

@@chadvader974 i have the same problem. you can see in this video that the maverick returns to the same offset when he undesignates.
This doesn't work on the ground. Always misaligned after boresighting. probably a bug
Still seems to be a problem as of June 2024
.....erm so i press up.. and then what?
What do you mean?
@@MamboDCS just trolling, thanks!
Hahaha alright!
