What I got from the film is that equality is very hard to be achieved. Patriarchy sucks but also a matriarchy isn't good either. I felt empathetic towards ken when he first visited the real world and I didn't get mad at him for doing what he did because he deserved the freedom. It sucks in both ways. What people don't understand is that the movie showcased how patriarchy affects women but also how a matriarchy would affect men. It showcased both sides but also criticized the hardships women go through
No, that was not the message of the film, actually if you had and media literacy or an IQ. The Ken’s in the film represent women in this world, the film shows that one extreme is disastrous, whether it be a matriarchy or patriarchy, it criticises those who fight for those extremes as the consequences lead to disparity and inequality. Please do have a wider perspective, and if you haven’t, actually watch the film before you criticise it :)

barbie is a movie to spread awareness around how there is a constant pressure for women starting from a very very young age, and y`all try to make it about men?? that doesn`t mean that men don`t struggle too, but that isn`t the point here. we all struggle. men struggle, women struggle, it`s not a competition. this movie is simply made to showcase the struggles that comes from simply being a woman. as men, we will not experience the same kind of struggles women experience, and women won`t experience the same kind of the struggles men do, thats just the way of life and nature. again it`s not a competition on who struggles the most, we all struggle and if you`re offended by a barbie movie showcasing women struggles, then the barbie movie ain`t the problem.
I didn’t find it to be an assault on me when I saw it. Any men worried about the Ken situation, please don’t be! Barbie and Barbie world is designed for primarily pre-pubescent little girl who really love everything about the pink, the glitz, the fun house and pool… I’m 45 and was loving it all 40 years ago! Until I was about 10 or 11. Crucial though, is that I didn’t think it was ‘me’, or any woman I know. Barbie was a toy, a play time thing. And I never considered my few Ken dolls to be like the men in my life. It literally never occurred to me to compare them. Because they are DOLLS. My mum didn’t look like Barbie. Or look glamorous. My Dad wasn’t a pushover. Or a weak emasculated male. I also loved climbing trees and avoiding baths and constantly having injuries like most of the boys and girls I played with. But I still loved Barbie time. I also had 3 girls, who are now mid to late-teens, and also spent 10 years enjoying Barbie. All have a good grip on the world, a good grip on what good men are, and are influenced by the men in their family and life for male role-models, NOT the ‘character’ of Ken. There’s lots of funny things to be recognised from the differences between how boys and girls play, and hours and HOURS of imaginary play as a girl with dolls is one of them. I promise, as a middle-aged female, men do not need to fear the ‘Barbie’ message. There actually isn’t a message. We still need and want love boys and men in all their forms. Ken is a ‘character’ like Actionman. Not real 😊
The movie teaches young girl that all the bad and suffering in reality comes from men, it's an absolute disgrace after all the hard work men did to build the cozy life y'all living in.
Those people say all the time : " we must represent all people" I'm a male and when i watched this movie i didn't felt represented at all. I felt like a sheep in a pack of wolfs ready to kill me soon at the end of the movie. And i saw men just walked away, why, because they felt opressed by women and by the way there were far more women than men.
Idk if men is the target audience for the movie, so it’s ok if you felt like it wasn’t for you. There was a positive message at the end for Ken that he can become his own self and not live for the sake of barbie. Although it did go back to the matriarchy at the end which I thought undermined the message of equality. But yeah Ken is going to become “Kenough”. Which is fine, whatever. Ultimately it’s a movie, it’s not real, it’s exploring these topics but not a 1 to 1 representation of real life so don’t take it so personally.

Is there a single person that gets it?? Barbie was a toy made for girls. There wasn't a single girl that, with Barbie in one hand and ken in the other, ever ONCE chose the ken doll to go have all of her fun with. It was Barbie. Ken was a throw a way. Ken was not the doll she chose when she pretended that it was time to go to work or that it was time to go shopping, or that it was time to get the kids or that it was time to buy a house or that it was time to go and play with friends. BARBIE did all of those things. It was BARBIE. Not Ken. Barbie drove the car, secured the home, did the work and paid the bills. This is a toy for girls and for the empowerment of girls. Plain and simple and every girl who had a Barbie KNEW that. Now expand that thought process from the imagination of a 7 year old girl into a full length motion picture. What would you get? You get Barbie running the show and Ken being a throw away. It's a completely predictable and natural extension of the imaginations of a young girl. Are the jokes at the expense of men? YES! That's the point! Men are the throw away here. That's the joke. Why doesn't anybody understand this? Men have real problems in todays world and we have battles to fight on a daily basis but the Barbie movie isn't one of them. The fact that the Barbie movie seems to pile on the weight to the shoulders of men is simply a coincidence of timing. This is the proper way to make this movie in ANY TIME, regardless of the cultural and social timing that we live in. This is how you make a Barbie movie and men need to choose their battles a little more frugally.
@aravindr740 you think I don't see that? EVERYBODY sees that. This obvious observation changes nothing. The fact is that Barbie is unique umong toys, and its concept for a movie is unique. Thst is: For little girls, Barbie is the hero of that universe. She rules Supreme and Ken is a sometimes slightly interesting but completely unnecessary addition to thst universe.....to a 7 year old girl..... This is the idea that the movie plays with. I can not believe that otherwise rational people don't understand this pretty obvious point. The fact that boys didn't have a toy line with a "throw away" female ad on is not a reasonable excuse to get angry over a Barbie doll movie. 🙄
Been watching a lot of Ukraine war footage from the front lines. Things are really terrible out there. I could unfortunately not help to notice that there is no woman in these combat groups in the meat grinder at the front. I think that diversity is really, really important. We as a global community cannot turn a blind eye to the lack of diversity at the the front lines in Ukraine any longer. Sure there is a literal hand-full of woman at the front....maybe, but the male female ratio is just unacceptable.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel quite abit in the last 2 years, it’s only England, parts of eastern and western America that have these stupid problems. The rest of the world is still sane I’m pleased to report

What happened to the discussion that the movie is all about the imaginary "patriarchy" that exists in our world and all about how the barbies don't need no kens, because the kens don't matter and the barbies never loved them? Is that REALLY what you want little girls thinking? Men are meaningless, and not worth even acknowledging as equals? They literally talked about everything except that the movie devalues men to such a degree it's concerning for fathers of young daughters that want to see it. Don't say it's not happening because I've been in more than one discussion with fathers of girls about it. But ask about Oppenheimer and feminists do nothing but complain the women weren't shown being leaders in the science of the film. Well, guess what, it was the 1950s, it's based on real events, and women weren't heavily in those fields then. But rather than come away from it with an appreciation for the progress that has been made, they denigrate it for being true to the times. Tell me how 2/3 of college students are women yet we somehow still live in a patriarchy? Why does feminism have to constantly feel the need to erase the value of men to show the value of women? "Ken" was literally the villain of the movie. Virtually the first words out of the woman's mouth were "women aren't paid as much as men" - WHERE? It's literally illegal and has been for a long time. Feminists only seem to value the jobs women predominantly want to do. They forget they need pipe fitters, and linemen, and roofers, and sewage workers and many other hard, dirty jobs that are almost entirely done by men yet LITERALLY keep our society running. How quickly everyone forgets how things get when the garbage men go on strike. I am so tired of everyone TALKING about equality and equity yet no one actually WANTS equality and equity, they just want whatever particular group they are in to get more privileges. People don't want to be treated the same as everyone else, they want to be treated BETTER than everyone else.

Coming from a 29-year-old male, I watched the Barbie movie and noticed the hidden messages in themes, and watching people debate and discuss all those topics. But quite frankly… I still very much enjoyed watching the movie.
My take after watching Barbie is that the movie was trying to convey a message explaining to the male population what it was like being a woman and having to fight for your rights. The movie simply reversed the roles and put men in women's shoes in order to make them understand and sympathise with us. They weren't "attacking" men, as you can see Barbie is fictional and the matriarchy does not exist, however the patriarchy displayed in the real world is very real. Ken was the perfect example of how young men soak up red-pill alpha male content and develop a sexist mindset where they believe women should not have high-statutory jobs and should instead be personal servants for them. The fact that the Barbies who had respected jobs such as a doctor etc were shown to be brainwashed into being maids was the perfect representation of how women are encouraged to be housewives instead of being independent, and when they do become housewives they are then slapped in the face with terms such as "gold digger", "dish washer", "stupid" (for not being able to find a real job).

The racism would be obvious, right? And sexism is the same shit. And while you can argue, that it is no nice to have female characters who are mainly just pretty, being pretty isn't something bad and those stories while not selling them as super heroes or whatever, still portray them as very important and often enough those the male characters even die for to save. Meanwhile when you got such stories who spit on men, they are not sold as nice, they are sold as monsters and incompetent and stupid ones on top of that. No on protects them, no on likes them. And it's not like all those stories with just pretty female characters don't have such males, too, overall the bad guys are mainly male and their henchmen who get slaughtered left and right, too. But in those third wave feminism (which was created by capitalism to distract the masses from going against the real culprits by the way) stories, the males are just worthless and disgusting shit. @@JoanieBeanThe movie probably isn’t anti-men, but some women have misused feminism as a means to demonise men. This is why some countries such as South Korea are heavily anti-feminist.
Finally a sensible comment
The fact that the movie was very heavy handed about it but still creates controversy is confusing
We do live in a world where movies cannot remain a movie there is always something behind it. I love Esther. She is everything that is right with this world. She is always equal rights for everyone
Is it me or it's just freaking annoying when that lady in pink opens her mouth? I think she genuinely argues very blindly!
That mouth needs a gag, I bet she is supper submissive in ben.
Funny, I felt that way when the second lady started speaking

Piers you always call it right. As a mother I do not want my children to see this flick.
well yeah cause it's not for kids 💀
She has some nerve to say "women are on the front lines of some of the most difficult job sectors to work in" with a straight face. Social work and health care?? Plz. Tell that to the Infantryman. The off shore oil-drillers. The construction workers. Stop it. Men overwhelmingly dominate the worlds toughest jobs necessary to our infrastructure.
Why are there no men on this panel of "experts"......men object that the movie bashes men and no men are invited to speak on this? C'mon, Piers, do better..

Coming from a 29-year-old male, I watched the Barbie movie and noticed the hidden messages in themes, and watching people debate and discuss all those topics. But quite frankly… I still very much enjoyed watching the movie.
Lol thanks for being mature
These 3 should starr in their own Barbie movie, fineeeeeee affff
I doubt real men give 2 f#%ks about what they have done with Ken in the movie.
Are we going to start doing this with all action figures and kids toys? This is a weird and i mean weird time and I've had enough. It's so tiring and depressing.
Women comes back off holiday and immediately returns to her role as "victim". What a great representative for women. Might as well have "handicapped" status you are all so set upon by the world. If you live in Barbie-world, you live a delusional life.
It's impossible to take Piers Morgan seriously when things like this become topics of debate. It's Barbie. Nothing to be outraged about here.
Both genders are unique and valuable.
The fact that they actually made a girls doll a feminist icon is hilarious.
The movie is basically “let’s teach little girls that all men are bad & should be put in their box”
Next we'll be seeing Piers Morgan sitting on motorways blocking parents from taking their kids to see Barbie....
*Barbie* and *Ken* is (or at least was) supposed to represent the “typical family life”; which is of course different depending of the times we live in.
There's literally an entire song towards the end of the movie sung by Kens that disproves this anti men narrative people have in their heads!

The Barbie movie is woke trash. The only good thing about it is the set design.
Misandrist: hatred of men
It's ironic since the best parts of the movie are the Kens, especially Ryan Gosling. But misandry is acceptable in these times. And Doctor Barbie is a played by a man. You can't make this up
It's because they couldnt allow the barbies to be dumb - so they're not funny.
3:36 "I missed this" , classic Piers 😂😂
As a representative of men, i want to put forward our collective position that the future is not going to be kind and easy for the men. If women get their hands at the power, expect a widespread disdain for anything masculine. You have to live like a simp or suffer like a manly man.

How is Barbie different from Charlie's Angels?😂😂
The song "I'm just Ken" is a sympathetic tribute to all the men who play supporting roles in women's lives but are stuck in the friend zone, or who end up masking their true personalities to fit into the world of Barbie. The Kens go from the bubblegum colour clothing of Barbie's world to wearing black, which is not a Barbie colour. I think Piers has missed some of the nuances of the movie.

It's beyond the simple fact that it's a movie: it's an indicator of how North American mentality is indoctrinating children.
I guess It’s more than a movie
It ovreall is just a bad movie, yes, but like with racism, every little part adds to it.
Let's make a simply cartoon about "dumb negros" for example, like in older days, when you got those big lipped black characters who were often criminals or servants.
There is nothing left.
