    Thanks for sharing and explaining why you choose to do things the way you do and how. I did try to use your website but every item I tried to purchase last week while clicking on the item. I always got the response "page cannot be found." Unfortunately with time restraints on me harvesting I had to get my gambles and hangers from another rabbitry. I was really sad because I wanted that money to go to your rabbitry. Not sure if this is a problem with my browser or what but I tried my computer and phone on your website.

    Thank you for your videos. I've only had rabbits for 8 months or so. Almost lost my male this week from not eating/ drinking (read its gi stasis), but was able to help him recover. Point being, I feed a pellet that claims to be a complete feed and have a hay pouch with coastal hay for them to eat too. I'm wondering if a different hay would be better or a combo of hays or what I'm doing wrong, I lost a female 4 months ago from what seems to be the same problem.

    What are you thoughts on Prairie hay? I have a farmer down the road that always has it, I’m just curious if that would be ok for my rabbits.

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That should work. Chemical free prairie hay can average around 10% protein when cut in Late June. If Cut later than that due to seed pods the quality can decline.

    Having trouble with the rabbits digging in the feeders and pellets ending up under the cages. Usually its does with litters or under grow out cages. Feeding an alfalfa pellet in the evening and supplementing with whole oats in the morning. Any thoughts?

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try raising the feeders.
      Be sure to check the j-feeders screen. -make sure they don't have tiny holes in the screen. You can repair with 1/8" screen. If you feed any other concentrates, be sure to use a separate bowl or place on a resting board. They'll shovel the pellet out to get to some tasty whole oats. Best of luck!

    My rabbits refuse to eat their hay. Is it because I give them access to greens? They don’t each much of their pellets either. I figured they would be wise enough to eat what’s best for them.

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rabbits would benefit from a high fiber diet. They’re hindgut fermenters. I recommend purchasing hay from a farmer so you can get it for the best price. This video share some more information on a Rabbits digestive system. th-cam.com/video/67U3tWyW_Wg2/w-d-xo.html51s

    How much hay do you give your rabbits? Someone told me recently that I should only give mine a tiny amount. I usually give them however much they want and haven't had any issues but she told me too much can cause bloating

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hay is high in fiber. In my experience you can't over feed hay. It's terrific for Rabbits and should be the majority of a rabbits diet. I feed a handful in the morning and a handful in the evening to every cage. Foods high in sugars and carbohydrates will cause bloat and should be fed in moderation. Thanks for asking!

    • @hillockfarm8404
      @hillockfarm8404 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Herbivores such as rabbits live on grasses and such, i'd be more worried about "fancy" diets like veg, fruit and so on along with rapid changes, hay is a stable feed, just be aware that hay in the form of alfalfa may be to high in calcium to feed unlimited. Amount wise my little calculation table says rabbit : 5% of bodyweight in hay.

    I have 2 questions, here in quebec we get a snowy winter like you and I can't tractor my rabbits then.. they go to a proper hutch. So how do I move them back to the tractors in spring without getting their digestion upset? Also, is there any way you would consider shipping your harvesting tool/gambrel to me? I will need one and would like to support you if I can!

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  ปีที่แล้ว

      When spring comes around, start introducing the food that you want to feed them in small increments over a few weeks. Make sure you're feeding mama rabbit, the same things try storing as much as you can for your winter season.

    Is it okay to feed rabbit a pellet of 19% protein

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      19% will work but it may cost a little more and it isn't necessary. Protein levels vary between different stages of a rabbits life, a growing baby rabbit will need a 16% -older rabbit will only need 12% a lactating rabbit will benefit from 16% + a punch of higher fat content like Boss or whole oats 3-4x a week. I personally choose 16% for all stages of rabbits life.

    Can rabbits eat burdock some started in my garden?

    • @TheRabbitryCenter
      @TheRabbitryCenter  ปีที่แล้ว

      burdock is used for medicinal purposes. you can always put some in the cage along with some other greens, and see if they eat it. And monitor their reaction. You'll see if they're taking it or not.

    • @nellieblighhill4575
      @nellieblighhill4575 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feed a large burdock leaf to each of my rabbits once a fortnight in a mixed salad of herbs. The salad I pick is burdock, holy basil,sweet potato vine, salad burnet, red clover, golden rod, plantain, common yarrow, mallow weed, milk thistle, sea purslane, rock samphire, red sorrel and red chicory.
      Any combination of three of these or more is great for the health of your rabbit. All are easily grown in pots or in the case of sweet potato vine, in a small solid kiddies swim pool. Some are annuals but many are perrenial and if y9u shelter them from frosts and snow they will produce for years, or self seed. With the holy Basil, chop the flowers off as soon as they flower, this makes for a thicker shrub and bigger leaves.
