I can confirm most of us die hard fans were suffering with these 30 minute episodes once a week. It was killing me for sure. And most people I saw online were complaining about it. So hopefully they make the episodes in season 2 longer.
i agree, these episodes being so short, are missing out on so much good stuff. I think they really missed out with not having more Clarrisa and Luke on screen over the season.... i would have liked to see more of the card game throughout the season, it's only a small thing, but does pop up, especially for future characters... With the episodes so short, i just feels rushes, and going from A directly to C and missing all the goodness of what B has to offer. Still enjoyed the season for what it was, but it could have been so much more, with more meat to the bones. Hopefully season 2, is longer, and they can get more of the story and character development stuff in.

It depends on how long of a contract they signed. If it was a multi-season contract they might be stuck in how long they can make the episodes. Because from what I've heard there is like a 30-minute contract and then a 45-minute+ contract with shows... Children's shows are usually 30 and under. . so I guess it makes sense why they chose the shorter episode one?? Because this technically is a children's show. Idk
That scene with Hermes was a great set up not only for the first season but for the whole series. Hermes plays a very very important role in all the first 5 books and I really think it should be noteworthy for you guys. Really liked how they wrote this character very early on in the series whereas in the books, he doesn't appear until the second season. It's also a great way to set up the next episode as well and what goes on in Percy's head as they're getting close to finishing their quest despite failing. Very excited for you guys to see the season finale as well!
I don't remember if the books ever mentioned about the intake of lotus flowers. But time indeed moves weirdly within the lotus casino. In the books, the trio were in a trance while playing the games at the casino. Then Percy encountered another kid there who thinks that the current year is like 1970s (?) so he gradually snapped out of it and realized about the time distortion in the casino.

Yup! Grover mentioned Pan, the god of the wild/nature. You might have heard about the Searcher's license a few times in the show (only satyrs who own that can look for Pan), and it's Grover's dream to earn that.

I saw you guys were saying a lot that you weren’t sure if/when Grover got his memories back and I just wanted to say as someone who loved the books (even though this scene was changed a bit) and also heavily analyzed this show to a worrying amount, it’s heavily implied that Grover gets all of his memories back the second they escape the casino. Even if this isn’t the case and it does take some time there’s a short time skip (no more than a day) from the end of this episode to the start of the next where Grover has all of his memories back in tact! Hope this helped clear some stuff up, I don’t usually comment a lot on posts but I love this show and series so much and I love seeing your reactions to it so I wanted to play in my part in making it as comprehensible as possible as someone who likes to think they know pretty much everything about the Pjo series

I still don't get why they keep telling us about the gimmick of a place/person, before we get to discover it for ourselves. They did it with medusa, they did it with echidna kinda, now they did it with the lotus flowers. I get that they can't assume that anyone watching will know the greek stories. But let the viewer figure some things out for themselves before expositioning >< As much as I like this adaptation, I think they could have done a lot more with this. Building tension/suspension.

Modern writing seems to be plagued with the insistence of telling the audience, instead of showing them, and letting them figure it out themselves. Too many shows have this issue these days, and can be frustrating. Just have to hope season 2 gets longer episodes, and they slow things down a bit.... there is no need for them to go from A straight to Z... there's plenty of stuff between that needs to be shown.

I think the reason why they made this episode so short is because the Casino was a big part of the movie so they didn't want to repeat stuff. But who knows I like how Mason Quinn is handling his knowledge of the Percy Jackson story. So subtle with his comments so he doesn't spoil things but also so on point 👌. I wouldn't be able to do it my facial expressions only, in the wrong moments, would already spoil things 🙉 The reason why the title is "We take a zebra to Vegas" is because that is also a the title of a chapter in the book, even if the zebra was not shown (the previous episode's title was "A God buys us cheeseburgers" and there were no cheeseburgers involved either) I have to say that they could have put a zebra instead of a camel on the streets tho 🤷♀️
As someone who is a big fan of the books, yes the episodes are short but you also have to understand that this is the best book to screen adaptation we have because the movies were so unnecessarily different, yes we do have the Lighting Thief musical which is amazing but it is just not the same as getting successful movies or shows that tell the whole story, so yes it may not be ideal this season, hopefully Disney will understand that there needs to be more time in each episode or more episodes, we are getting a season two so hopefully we see longer episodes and more of them to help flesh out the story.
You may have missed it but the other gods yes there are plenty of sons/doughters but for Poseidon Zeus and hades they are rare, that’s why they have this difference in treatment, power and comparisons to their godly parents

A request I have is for you to react to the "Dumbledore's Great Plan" theory by the SuperCarlinBrothers. I don't think you have to have read the books to watch because they show direct quotes when they reference things. Its really intriguing and well done, and generates a lot of ideas, at least for me! BUT, it's long, so even if you don't make a reaction, watching it in your own time and reporting back would be awesome anyways. There's a supercut with no sponsors if you decide to take a look. One reason why the episodes are short is because of child labor laws. Young actors are restricted in how many hours they can work per day. That was a factor in aging up the characters in the movies (they wanted to do the same with the Harry Potter movies, but JK Rowling put her foot down and said no). As for this episode, 1. The Lotus memory loss isn't permanent, so no worries about Grover; 2. Not just Hermes's story, but what he tells Percy and Annabeth is crucial to the entire series; 3. There IS a zebra - you can see it trotting around the front of the truck; 4. Grover's quest for Pan is important to the rest of the series. Hope that helps.
The Percy Jackson books were my favorite growing Up, I ready them all multiple times. I wish they made the episodes longer or more episodes. Other than that I'm happy with the show. It's a childhood dream come true. Also I compared it to the Harry Potter movies and 1 season is almost 2 Harry Potter movies long. So it's actually not that short, but it still feels short

As someone who watched weekly I can confirm, the length of the episodes was very frustrating lol This episode is probably the weakest of the season which is a bit frustrating because the casino part in the book was very fun and beloved by the fans. In the book, Hermes was never in the casino and even if fans hate the movie adaptation, the casino part was way better than this one. They missing the solstice deadline is a HUGE change from the books... I really love the series but this change was the first change I did not like in this adaptation.

This episode is definitly my least favorite! In the books the casino chapter is a lot more fun and Percy figures out what's happening eventually. And that's my problem with this series so far that they know everything beforehand. It happened at Medusa's, it happened here and it'll happen again. This episode is my least favorite is the series and was the definition of a missed opportunity. You could do a hundred things with a casino so fun that you literally lose time, but they did the most boring thing possible. Sitting around a talking in hushed tones, walking slowly while talking, and watching from the outside while someone plays VR. We didn't even get to see the game he was playing. The most exciting part of the episode was driving around a parking garage at 4 MPH!

Oh you guys got something wrong about the release dates. It’s 2 episodes per week when it was being premiered. Which a great sweet spot for week to week releases and to avoid binge watch fatigue
I dunno if you guys know this, but the target demographic of this show is kids and neurodivergent people (since all of the demigods have ADHD and Dyslexia). Young people and people with Attention Deficit have a harder time sitting through longer episodes. You keep acting so confused about the length of the episodes so I thought I'd better explain this to you, because I really enjoy these reactions overall, but that aspect is getting a little monotonous 🤷 (sorry if that comes across as rude! I have Autism and sometimes it's hard to navigate social interactions)
I think they take into consideration the attention span of kids for the length of the show. Because the story is so good sometimes it's forgotten that it's a children's show. #reverselotuseffect

As someone who watched weekly I can confirm, the length of the episodes was very frustrating lol This episode is probably the weakest of the season which is a bit frustrating because the casino part in the book was very fun and beloved by the fans. In the book, Hermes was never in the casino and even if fans hate the movie adaptation, the casino part was way better than this one. Anyway, I love to hear your theories and I love that you enjoy this show so much. I read a few of the Percy Jackson's books and I really like this series adaptation!
They missing the solstice deadline is a HUGE change from the books... I really love the series but this change was the first change I did not like in this adaptation.

I think the main reason the episodes are short is due to child labour laws. Filming schedule was a lot more tight for this since the main cast are all minors.

This episode is definitly my least favorite! In the books the casino chapter is a lot more fun and Percy figures out what's happening eventually. And that's my problem with this series so far that they know everything beforehand. It happened at Medusa's, it happened here and it'll happen again.
Next episode is my favorite epsisode I think... it definitly has my favorite scene in it!! Can't wait till you guys see it!😊

This episode is my least favorite is the series and was the definition of a missed opportunity. You could do a hundred things with a casino so fun that you literally lose time, but they did the most boring thing possible. Sitting around a talking in hushed tones, walking slowly while talking, and watching from the outside while someone plays VR. We didn't even get to see the game he was playing. The most exciting part of the episode was driving around a parking garage at 4 MPH!

Oh you guys got something wrong about the release dates. It’s 2 episodes per week when it was being premiered. Which a great sweet spot for week to week releases and to avoid binge watch fatigue
I dunno if you guys know this, but the target demographic of this show is kids and neurodivergent people (since all of the demigods have ADHD and Dyslexia).
Young people and people with Attention Deficit have a harder time sitting through longer episodes.
You keep acting so confused about the length of the episodes so I thought I'd better explain this to you, because I really enjoy these reactions overall, but that aspect is getting a little monotonous 🤷 (sorry if that comes across as rude! I have Autism and sometimes it's hard to navigate social interactions)
