How lovely to see ordinary people smiling and having a good time. This can tell us so much more than the written word or photos. I wonder who the black student was?
What a delight to see many ladies carrying their degree as they passed the camera! (Nowadays for photo purposes it's usually a white plastic tube!). Was Birmingham a pioneer in (forgive the term) 'accepting' ladies on degree courses? Birmingham University has a reputation for 'being first' in many areas andI think they were the first University Medical School to use highly accurate anatomical models for medical training rather than preserved human cadavers. A most interesting film. Rob.
Wow!!! Is the first ever degree day? Does a full video exist? I wonder what the rest of the campus looked like? Just red brick with no library or muirhead tower...
its interesting how they all keep staring at the camera. And yet today 2013 where ever you may go many people walk past and stare at the person holding a video camera when filming. Its interesting because this has not change since a camera was first invented. Notice how when one person films around where public spaces and people walk past and stare as if they have yet never seen a camera before (so much for technology wonders with a camera :)
BFI doing an incredible job restoring these ghosts from the past.
so many summers ago... so many moments ago... time never stops its relentless march and in what will seem like a blip we'll become the same as them

Wonderful to watch each proud soul going past captured for every on film.
