The book was titled “And I don’t want to live this life”, written by her mother, Deborah. Nancy had serious mental health issues, a very troubled, & sad life. Her parents, & siblings suffered from the repercussions of her illness. Her parents struggled to get her help, but, Nancy was too severely ill. The book is well-written, & very honest.

I met her mother, Deborah Spungen, some time ago when we were considering starting a program that would bring victims and offenders together. Deborah hated the movie "Sid and Nancy" but her book "And I Don't Want To Live This Life" seemed to tell a similar story. One thing she did admit was that it could have been Sid who ended up dead.

@@tomhirons7475 I agree. Although I respect Lamont in general, in this video I felt that he forgot that this troubled young woman was someone's beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister and friend. I felt like he was showing us the grave of a fictional antagonist, not a regular person who, under other circumstances, could have been any of our neighbors or friends. If you are going to do notorious deaths, perhaps it would be best if you stuck to people whose friends and family are long dead also. Unless more tragedy befell this family, her parents are possibly still alive, and her brother and sister are almost certainly still with us. I would not want my brother discussed in such a casual way. Lamont was certainly not cruel, just, in my opinion only, a bit flippant and lacking in the respect any dead person not guilty of crimes against another person is deserving of.

It's sad because from my understanding is Sid Vicious wasn't taking heroin until Nancy Spungen entered into his life. Then she introduces him to heroin and eventually she gets stabbed to death and he ODs on it. Had that groupie not gotten to him he probably would have been alive still and probably or maybe her.

Sid's mother was a heroin user and she gave Sid heroin on his 16th birthday. But perhaps getting two heroin users (Sid & Nancy) together may have magnified their drug problems.

You speak as if it was determined Sid was guilty of murder; it was not determined. Sid died before the case went to trial. Those who were present in the hotel says they did not hear any noise that would result in a death. Infact, those who knew Sid an Nancy witnessed others in the room and believed Sid did not murder Nancy. The attorney who represented Sid repeated Sid as saying "I wished they had killed me instead." Again, it was not determined that Sid was guilty.

Wait- so Sid is not there?
His last written wish was 'bury me next to my baby'.
Did they at least throw his ashes there?
If not then I think it's shameful to not let him have his wish- the people didn't take either of them seriously!

    • @lauramars182
      @lauramars182 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Sid's mum told Nancy's parents what Sid"s wishes were, as to being buried next to Nancy; and she and Nancy's father were appalled at the very idea and said no in no uncertain terms.
Sid's mum, also being a heroin addict, wouldn't accept that so she scaled the cemetery wall, as it has been described, and spread Sid's ashes over and around Nancy's grave.
And you know, it makes me wonder what Sid's girlfriend at that time, felt about the fact that in death he wanted to be with the one he truly ever genuinely loved; and how she must have been something to just pass the time. Happens all too often, I think.

Lamont, though this video was posted over two years ago I want to thank you for "...fixing flowers and flags..." as you went through the cemetery. I appreciate the respect you show for those who have passed. I live in Bloomington, Indiana, and up the hill from me is Rose Hill Cemetery. There have been times that I biked past the cemetery and have seen flags that have fallen over. I'll go into the cemetery to put the flags back in an upright position. I want to show respect for the flag and for those who have served in the Armed Forces.
In Rose Hill Cemetery is the grave singer-songwriter-actor Hoagie Carmichael. Also at Rose Hill is a large, dark granite monument to a man named J.B. Crafton. Mr. Crafton's body is not there. Under his name is the inscription "Lost on the Titanic".

There is far more evidence supporting that Sid DID NOT kill her, than evidence that he did. I find it highly unlikely that the Police had any credible evidence at all that he did it. He was just the one that found her, called for Police, had been in the room all night ( in a complete drug haze and had been sleeping for hours ). There had also been COUNTLESS drug addicts, drug dealers, gang and/or Mafia type people (shady gangsters other people in the room left because of, and we're scared of them) other hotel residents, band members, punk rockers, managers, club people, etc. in and out of the room all night with Nancy. A large amount of cash was also missing the morning Nancy's body was found. At least 10 people have come forward and given names of multiple people there that night, indicated who they suspected, verified Sid was damn near comatose. I'm surprised LaMont you didn't do more research on this case. I am always amazed at your details on other victims cases. This really is a fascinating, eerie, mysterious case. There is also a great deal of people that believe Sid was purposefully overdosed, as in murdered himself. Yes, his ashes were put on her grave, as they both had stated their wishes to be together in death. He left a note telling his mom he wanted to be with Nancy, he was miserable without her, what clothes he wanted to be buried in and to "put him with his baby, Nancy". He was wishing for death, had no interest in living, and many think he had help to check on out. BTW, there have been numerous and credible reports since her death that Nancy's spirit is seen at the Chelsea Hotel, in and around Room 100, where she died.

I remember Nancy and Sid. I was in elementary school when she was killed. Nancy was a person Courtney Love looked up to. Nancy was stabbed at the Chelsea Hotel in the room she and Sid signed into as Mr. And Mrs. John Simon Ritchie, said to be Sid's real name, his mom was a heroin addict too.

Lamont; If you can do more background stories of tragedies its important to show these stories. Keep up the good work for humanity. I do have one request. Are you able to do a viewing of the graves of the mother and two daughters killed visciously by those 2 guys. I cant remember the location, Maryland maybe. Her husband is a doctor and he was beaten and tied up in the basement. These crazies raped, killed and burnt their house down.. Its a terrible tragedy. Take care.

Sid aka simon john Ritchie was never accused if her murder there are unanswered factors we will never know. And she wasnt just a.groupie
They loved each other and they both had sad upbringings very ignorant

No offense I enjoy your channel but how the hell do you not know Nacey is?... She’s a fucking legend ..befor Courtney before kurtCobain. There was these to the modern day punk rock Bonnie and Clyde. And it is not certain if you truly killed her but it does point that way I read her mother’s book on her daughter and it is a good read and she was more than just a groupie she was an amazing woman sadly her life was taken a little prematurely but thank you for going to her grave I recommend that you researcher and really get to know the person you just visited

Sid was questioned but not charged for Nancy's murder. The movie was ok. I thought actor Gary Goldman did a great job as Sid. I had a feeling he was going to have a long career
