Holy cow! Yup, that is MY Salvatore Lombari Violin you just mentioned. Suffice it to say, we (the instrument and I) are becoming faat friends. It has such a sweet and warm character and the resonance is very nicely balanced across all strings. And the tuning pegs are smooth as butter. I have no alternative but to grow into a better Violin player.
How incredible to hear the first notes from such a meticulously-crafted and gorgeous instrument! (Your ebullient joy made me tearful… in a good way!) Thank you for letting us ride along for this beautiful moment!❤
Olaf, you are truly a master of your craft, and I so enjoy each video. Thanks for sharing your talent and craftsmanship with us. Best wishes for continued success.
Thank you, Olaf. I really appreciate your videos. What you do is, to me, a dream career, in a dream environment. Oh, to create and repair such beautiful instruments, as you do and to play and experience the making of such sweet, wonderful, tones as does your client, whom you quoted. What a, fantastic, family legacy you have, for yourself and to pass down, to your own offspring. I do envy you. Yes, music is, indeed, an emotional thing. Good wishes, to you and your family, for your personal and professional well being and future. 😁✌🖖
Yes indeed.. an exciting day. I am so pleased to hear your beautiful creation. I’m not an expert but to me your violin sounds amazing, as good as it looks. Thanks for sharing that moment of fulfillment.
LOL you work bench looks like my tiny workspace I have at my home. A place well used where magic happens. So great to see your new violin. I'm so interested in the building process for violins and quite possibly its improvements. You won me over with the hyde glue though LOL.
I appreciate your showing us when you are sharpening your tools. This step is vastly important and I am still working on consistently producing a fine, sharp edge. More practice is needed on my part I'm afraid.
@@mellissadalby1402 keep at it, You'll get there... In the end you'll get a good feel for it. For me it's focusing on removing the burr each time I turn it around.
Hi Olaf, Thank you for identifying the types of oils you are using in those two cases. I had heard from other Violin makers to use Linseed oil (Sundried boiled Linseed oil) on the neck, but the synthetic Paraffin is new to me. It makes sense though.
I am very much enjoying my new Salvatore Lombardi Violin (built 2020, from Olaf Grawert Violin Studios). It feels progressively more comfortable to me and we (the instrument and I) are getting along splendidly. I love the tonal balance and predictable resonances. The set up makes it effortless to play, so I end up neglecting my other Violins (sorry).
That was such a good amount of information about setting up the violin 🎻.. thank you so much you are a master Craftsman.. I need to make my pegs smooth action with the peg paste, play the violin is holding tune right now holding pitch so I'm just playing it and loving it I'll get some good strings when I adjust everything... But for now it's play play play play play play
I guess my ears are not tuned to tell the difference between a fine violin and an average violine and a Vso. I have and play an Anton Breton (10 thousand pawnshops can’t be wrong) and I love the sound. Of course I play a fiddle not a violin😁

The moment when you first played your own violin and got slightly emotional was very special indeed!

It's touching to see you so happy with the newly finished violin. 😊It sounds beautiful!
Your new violin sounds fantastic, like it's 10 fiddles!

What a wonderful job you have Mr Grawert. I'm thoroughly jealous. 😂 Carry on with the great work you do.

Those beautiful homes in Brisbane along your bike route remind me of the conch cottages in Old Town, Key West, Florida.
Little do you know, you’ve become my study buddy!
Congratulations to your latest creation. Sounds really great.😊
Ah, Paul's dad. Looking forward to the story in the next video! :)
I always Be needed to buy one of his pearlamont violin

Beautiful work
"Kreisler" Stradivarius for Mr Vengerov?? *Kreutzer* , I believe! One of four with that sobriquet.
I fantasize about how his shop smells. It has to smell of wood, lacquer, glue and coffee.

Hi Olaf, is this the same violin you posted about 7 months ago (slab-cut back)? Glad to see how the result came out to be :)
Nice work do you ever get a better sound than you would expect
Maybe it has been asked before, but I got very curious lately after your recipe for 'bulletproof coffee' 😛...
