I was fortunate enough to be at this game while living in Scottsdale, AZ, in 2006. We had the day off from work and I ended up getting excellent seats for next to nothing for that afternoon matchup (I worked at Forsythe Appraisals at the time). I had extra tickets that afternoon and I believe my colleague Ted Getz and his wife showed up late to the game that day (they were Detroit fans). I'm the lone Caps fan sporting the Caps jersey, baseball cap, and faded jeans jumping up in the background after the first goal in this video. What an excellent trip down memory lane for a lifelong Caps fan. Although it's a phenomenal memory, it's not my best Caps memory. I had seats three rows back behind the net for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals with my childhood best friend (Khang Hiu) when the Caps beat Vegas to win the Stanley Cup. Seeing that game winning goal and being in the picture when the Caps made history will be a great story for my children when they're old enough to understand my passion for sports (they get it now - but they don't really get it yet). This goal is still one hell've of memory. It was 19-years ago today. The graphic from the Caps broadcast about Ovie needing another 860 goals to catch Wayne Gretzky is also quite telling. They obviously didn't show that graphic at the stadium that day - however someone did their homework behind the scenes even if it was most likely meant as something to casually joke about then. Go Caps!

Did not know this. It was a pretty sparse crowd that afternoon - the odds of him being there - about as slim as Ovie scoring that goal. The Coyotes weren't good then. Tickets were so cheap that day that I bought multiple tickets behind the net where the Caps shot twice that afternoon. What a great memory...
