I'm so pleased that you posted this video - I've just bought fabric for a new blouse and want to make a peter pan collar rather than the usual stand up collar. I've been trying to figure out how to make it. Now I know :)

Thank you so much for this great video! I have a question: once you make the outer curve of the under collar piece 1/8” smaller, how do you get the edges of the upper collar and under collar to line up when you stitch them together? I wound up using the same pattern for both collar pieces because I couldn’t get them to line up otherwise. Are you meant to ease the upper collar onto the under collar?

Yes, you are meant to ease the upper collar to the under collar. Typically the under collar is smaller so that it will help the collar roll properly.

Hi! Thank you for this tutorial! 💖 I have a question, and I’m sorry if it’s a stupid one: do the pattern pieces you’re drafting the collar to fit already include seam allowance? I’m not sure if the step where you slightly overlap the shoulder lines is done to account for this; in another pattern drafting video from another creator where they use a similar method of taping the two bodice pieces together at the shoulder, the seam allowance is included already in the pattern, so they overlap the entire shoulder line by the seam allowance (instead of only at the armhole like you did) to simulate how the shoulders will be sewn already when you attach the collar. I hope that made sense, I’d really appreciate any help! 😅

It's always a good idea to remove your seam allowances before making any pattern adjustments. The overlap Haley is doing at the shoulder in this video is to help the collar lay flatter at the shoulder by removing a little of the back shoulder slope. Hope that helps!

Hi! Thank you for your video. I do have a question. On the collar pattern you raised the back neck line by 1/8" and dropped the front neckline about 1/4". Do you also have to make these changes on the front and back patterns? Thank you

Hi Kim! No, you only make these changes to the collar - this is done so that there is a little bit extra fabric in the collar to help it lay nice and flat.
