The spear thrower is known as atlatl and is known in europe mostly through contact with new world, where it was used - in old world in antiquity instead of spear thrower people used a leather strap called Amentum for the same purpose as spear thrower.
the individual known as Goliath was believed to have had the congenital giantantisim condition leading to a weaker bone density in the skull region this issue was also shared by his brothers
Using a spear thrower, also known as an atlatl, you can generate a lot more force. The Spanish found out how powerful they can be in what is today Panama, when the natives living there could throw a javelin with enough power to penetrate the Spaniards' breastplates.
to the opening questions, 1 yes a sling's lethal but anything a sling can do, a gun can do way further 2: yes, but hard materials (i.e. glass, obsidian, etc.) ain't good at chopping. also 1:59 ain't no way that ISN'T an AI image, and it even says Goliath was around 10 foot, while tall now and at the time. would make him only about double David's height. At that height there would not be a giant difference between a human's skull and Goliath's outside of a potential millimeter or two thicker skull. I think the bible says he wasn't wearing his helmet nor wielded his shield because he was cocky or whatever. And a book like the Bible is going to have a shit ton of bias with anything that is recorded on it, meaning they might have over stated Goliath's height in the first place to make David's victory seem grander.
The spear throwers were called Woomeras in Australia by the Aboriginals, their spears had barbed tips that would lodge in their targets even if the shaft broke off, they were accurate up to 60m (200 ft).
Well you cant make super sharp blades by knapping, you must use pressure flaking to make prismatic blades from an obsidian core carefully shaped. Another problem compared to metal blades is that obsidian is more brittle and you lose that almost atom sharpness pretty quickly. Slings are actually really fun. I have made a couple of balearic slings out of hemp twine. Difficult to master.

A gun can be made in the wild with a few pieces of cord and random rocks on the ground?
@havingfun-u4g the video asked if slings were stronger than a fire arm, where the fuck did i say a gun was easy to make?

Problem with this atlatl is fact that it dont throw spears. But weak AF carbon fiber arrow. It would probably made much more damage with actual spear.
