It's interesting how names are translated. Christopher Columbus for example was really named Cristoból Colón. Almost every historical name we use is actually 100% inaccurate because it's been translated. His actual, untranslated name was Þorfinnr Karlsefni.
you're wrong about VINLAND meaning land of wine. there's no such word in Norse for wine or vines, mainly because they drank ale or meade. it actually means grassland & that was important because their ships carried up to 16 cattle. so you need to correct that
Vinland is Old Norse, which branched from Germanic (Scandinavian) which is a mix of Faroese, Latin and greek. The Norse language is basically historical record of people displaced by war and slavery for over 10,000 .

My mantra is "Don't get old. It's not for the weak", HA! 🙃
It's a lot easier to warm up, than cool down. Plus I get weeks long bloody migraines in summer. Many fewer in winter.
So nice to meet you! This is the main reason I love the internet. You can commiserate from across the world. I pay no attention to the negative stuff. Thanks for your comment.

We have no way of knowing who 'the first European to step foot on the Americas' was.
To say we do would effectively close the book on any new exploration and discoveries.
"Authorities" and "experts" are notorious for omitting these words: "As far as we know ... *so far* ....".
Huh??
Bro got real 🗿🗿🗿
Dont worry Yukimura sensei will make it successful
I came here after I noticed "Extra credits" didn't even mention Thorfinn by name :(
VINLAND SAGA IS REAALL 😱🤯
As always cool and great historical investigation.May i ask something. He wasn't a Viking ?No of course not he came from Iceland?
That's right, not a Viking !
I'm NOT ready for this to happen un the manga 😢
God i hope Vinland saga Doesnt end like this. That would be depressing lol
Have to wait and see!
The Manga is still going on?
@@lordofhostsappreciator3075 yeah
@@nonanimeprofilepic well need to stay accurate
@@protocetus499 is the manga finished? and btw, no it doesnt need to be hundred percent like history, it is based on those characters and derives inspiration from it, but its not hundred percent a history re-telling
Oh yeah! Knock another myth out of the ballpark. Sorry old man Columbus😈 Thanks FL. We've been hearing nibbles of this for years, good to have more history.🤘🤔😋
Thanks very much for watching :D
Bro I came here to see how thorfinn's story might go
thank u let me know the thorfinn s story on real history
In Sweden we call him Torfinn Karlsämne.
It's interesting how names are translated. Christopher Columbus for example was really named Cristoból Colón. Almost every historical name we use is actually 100% inaccurate because it's been translated.
His actual, untranslated name was Þorfinnr Karlsefni.
Leif Erickson discovered Canada.
Vinland saga fans where y’all at
cant believe people already spoiling the ending of vinland saga :(
Caribbean history seems similar to investigate and Australia and pacific islands
This ending bouta be sad asf
Did they honestly think that this massive land, rich in resources wouldn't have inhabitants?
Strømsfjord is Saguenay fiord
I have no enemies.
They made it all the way to Maine look up the maine penny.
you're wrong about VINLAND meaning land of wine. there's no such word in Norse for wine or vines, mainly because they drank ale or meade. it actually means grassland & that was important because their ships carried up to 16 cattle. so you need to correct that
Vinland is Old Norse, which branched from Germanic (Scandinavian) which is a mix of Faroese, Latin and greek. The Norse language is basically historical record of people displaced by war and slavery for over 10,000 .
TO SINK OR SWIN
I feel i got spoiled
Vinland Saga is an underhyped Masterpiece like Monster
Even though I myself find it boring when there is no Magic or Supernatural it's still worth your time to watch it
Honestly, I wouldn't say that either of the two are "underhyped" with the exception of Monster,
But stories like Kingdom , Pluto etc are definitely stories that have not yet received enough love from the general audience. Both arguably better than Monster and Vinland Saga
@@malekat8539 Mangas such as Blade of the Immortal and The Climber have impeccable character writing but only few have heard about them
Where's the part where he was obsessed with killing Askeladd??
My history lessons never mentions leifur erikson as the one who first discover america, it always stated that Christopher columbus is the one
There are a lot of thing history in school tells us but better investigate further
Well, I'm a spaniard and mine did... Ironic
