Same. They would be begging to be returned after 10 minutes of being in my life. The physical pain and discomfort I am in on a daily basis is literally hell. But I guess we are easy targets who are in no position to fight back. Healthy military aged men on boats are able to fight back.

Sorry, but there are some very vulnerable Veterans on PIP out there, some very anxious, some with extremely severe debilitating conditions. From Complex Military Combat PTSD Trauma, Severe COPD, Stroke Disabilities, restricted mobility etc. Scant information is not helping those people, however well intended it is. We are already losing 30 Veterans a month to 'Suicide' due to PTSD Combat Trauma. Some are aged 64 years with very complex conditions. Please, I am asking put meaningful facts out, because at present, scant details are very likely to push people over the edge...be responsible with REAL facts. For the sake of these particularly vulnerable people whose PIP payment each month is the truly and quite litterally the difference between Life and Death for them.

Something works of fiction like 1984 and V for Vendetta have in common, along with totalitarian regimes like the Nazis, is their disdain for sickness and disabilities, and their eradication of such. When we see similar rhetoric coming from our government, it fills me with dread, amongst other negative thoughts and feelings. Sure it might not be as extreme (yet) but the sentiment is still the same. We are a burden. But it's fine that corporations are allowed to continue with their practices that create many of our disabilities in the first place. After all, money is everything.

My disability is invisible. If I was stood next to you I would look normal to you. However I have brain damage from a stroke in 2016. Which means I have real trouble remembering or recalling information. I get confused easily and when I do I stay confused for hours. Sometimes I can not understand the words that people are saying to the point where it sounds in my head that they are talking gibberish. I here the sound but brain can't translate the sounds into words. My personality has changed which means if I feel threatened whether physically or verbally I go into attack mode. This is not controllable by me. There is no build up of anger. I can go from 0 to 100 in a blink of an eye. Hence I stay away from others as much as possible. On the physical side I limp and feel tired all the time. As well I sometimes slur my speech and have tinnitus. Even though a doctor can say that I have brain damage. There isn't a doctor on the face of the planet who could say with certainty how it effects me. All they can do is list of common effects. Just because you see someone who in your opinion looks able to work does not mean that they are able to work.

@@AleemaBii It just does my head in that people diagnose a person as not being disabled without any medical qualifications when doctors have a hard time understanding the effects of some disabilities. Also the fact that disabilities can vary in intensity day to day and sometimes depending on the disability minute to minute. Meaning that a healthy person can see the disabled person doing things that the healthy person thinks a disabled person shouldn't be able to do. What they don't seem to understand is that a lot of disabled people don't get help with their disabilities therefore things that we need to get done are done when our symptoms are not affecting us as much. Just because they see you do something does not mean that they can do the same level of work 8 hours a day 5 days a week or in any consistent manner. Yes there are people who manipulate the system for their own benefit but a lot of it will be bravado, not wanting to admit that they are disabled. I know I went through a stage after my stroke where I tried to pretend that I was all right which ended up with me back in hospital. I also know that some of my friends family think I am taking the mick because I look normal all because the conservatives have put in their minds that disabled people are work shy and feckless.

@michaeloconnor9465 precisely. Disgusting comments. I've got 2 autistic sons, without huge amounts of paid support, they'll never 'work'. They'd be more a drain on the system if made to work because they're behaviour would end them up in mental wards or prison. I get carer's allowance to prevent this, £80 a week for both of them. Even some voluntary work isn't appropriate. Not just for them, but society at large. Is it their fault or mine that they're disabled? People are so entitled to good health, they're even jealous at those who don't. Make it make sense. This country has been emboldened lately to be bigoted and supremely small minded. It’s all very well to say that disabled people who can work, must work. What I want to know is, what system will Labour put in place to distinguish between disabled people who can work and those who can’t. Under the Tories there have been heartbreaking cases where people have been found fit to work when they are not. I hope that whatever form the work capability assessment will take under Labour, it will prioritise the needs of disabled people ahead of bringing down the welfare bill. I saw an interview with Liz Kendall a while ago where she said that the best way to lower the number of people on disability benefit is to fix the NHS. That sounds good to me. I know that Labour have a lot on their plate, but I hope they will not keep us waiting too long before they let us know what their plans are.

There seem to be a lot of people that can't do even the slightest thing to pay their way but are perfectly capable when it comes to enjoying social media all day. If you can waffle on Facebook, you can do data entry.

I don't think businesses will want to employ people that are ill or disabled, the only way they will is if the government cover the amount of hours the disabled workers will need for time off, hospital appointments, dr's, or even just going through pain or a mental episode. All those man hours lost.
As for making people do therapy if they are going through a bad time with mental health, Ive had sessions in the past and can honestly say it didn't work, for one most men find it hard to open up.

They are already discharging those with serious mental illness from CMHTs back to GPs. This means no evidence to support claims for the roll out of ESA to UC. Some of these people are older, they have no friends, family or support. There is no advocacy or outreach to help fill in forms and liaise with DWP. Many of these people are stable but struggle and are unreliable. Occupational Health and CPNs are now in surgery assessing fitness for work, you can't see a specialist without seeing them first. Anything mandatory with threats of sanctions and closing down claims for non engagement is not help it's force. This is an accident waiting to happen. Client led, voluntary schemes work really well and can improve wellbeing. Pretending an illness or disability doesn't exist does not make it go away.

I have Parkinson's, COPD, diabetic neuropathy, compressed nerves in the lower spine, as well as multiple conditions. I would like to see them get me back to work. sounds a lot better than what weve had. but there should be no pressure to work if you have disabilities. that pressure only pushes you to breaking point. heck its one reason you can get disabilities.. being pushed or pushing too hard. ill note that ''when they are ready was inserted in there''. yes job centers or abuse centers should be replaced with help centers. and i agree with scrapping the benefits reduction on earnings. in favor of an earning cap where you once earning enough can move from benefits to being fully off benefits smoothly. taking half a persons earnings when they are struggling is not helping them to grow its keeping them down. it needs to change from attacking to helping claimants. them knowing how to help for a start and help not being forced that isn't helpful its just controlling. people need support to grow. not a system of oppression to keep them down. that is how to rebuild Britain. with love and unity not hate and division. this could well be our final war as a civilization. one in the minds ad hearts of every man woman and child. do we vote for hate or love ? peace or war ? to stay stuck and fade away or to grow ? either way its one heck of a show.

It seems like a ludicrous waste of time and money to keep doing assessments on people who are obviously never going to recover from their disability. If someone, for example, has severe learning difficulties that is never going to go away so why put their families through the stress of repeated reassessment? It would save a fortune and make life so much easier for disabled people if they just used some common sense

With Labour’s plans to privatise the NHS and still with no post-diagnostic assessments for those diagnosed with autism later in life, to assess both level of autism and appropriate levels of post-diagnostic supports required, how is this going to work with people with autism who have no idea what their support needs are, regardless of whether or not they want/need to get back into work, regardless of any legal obligations placed on employers? Indeed, how are they going to ensure that employers are meeting their legal obligations and legal responsibilities to disabled workers? Surely this comes under better enforcement measures against non-compliant employers that are more robust?

I've been told by my local health board that they don't do assessments for adult adhd as only children are affected, despite research to the contrary. Whatever saves them money works for them. Its also convenient to not have adult needs taken into consideration by business. If it can't be diagnosed, it can't be taken into consideration. The whole system is screwed up and needs private finance interests removed altogether.

They didn't want to risk disabled people not voting for them but didn't want to offer anything concrete either so they could do what they want after the election. It all makes me really worried. It has become very apparent. There are people who vote for labour, becuase they just assume labour will show compassion towards people, because of their shiny image. If people questioned why labour were being so shifty about the sick and disabled, labour's staunch supporters, would just ridicule people who questioned things. Because we should just 'believe' things will be OK, because labour are 'just better'. And there were times where I explained to a staunch labour supporter, what was happening with starmer, reeves and the sickness benefits. And they were genuinely shocked. Becuase they just 'believe' labour wouldn't do things like this. But it was labour who introduced the horrific assessments when they were last in power. And during the last labour government, Blair tried to make massive cuts to sickness and disability, but was stopped by a massive back bench rebellion. Now Blair is calling the shots, starmer does as he's told. And I really doubt there are many ethical labour mps left in the party. Look at the company that lot keep. Ed balls doing a pod cast with George osbourne; the latter a person responsible for the destruction of his own people, via the horrific cuts targeting the sick and disabled. Blair goes to osbournes wedding. At one point there was talk of David Cameron being employed by starmer, as foreign secretary. We never really had a change of government. They've just had a rebrand. They are playing out a theatre, so the well-off can believe things are different. While the masses seethe with angry, as we get gaslit like this.

Its all well and good wanting disabled people to work but, it's the employers that have a problem with recruiting disabled people. All they see is, how much is it going to cost us in reasonable adjustments. Maybe the government should be penalising companies who do not take on at least 50 per cent of their workforce, who are disabled.

the jobcenter kinda sucks, the way its ran is terrible and the way employers treat JSA recipients is also terrible, you get put on 2 weeks free labour essentially and even if you can do the job correctly and at a sufficient level they still wont hire you, that is the single biggest issue with the job center, the government wants to get people working? make it easier to get a job make it so that after the 2 weeks if the employee does the job advertised at a sufficient level and they are competent at the job THEY ARE GUARANTEED THE JOB and 2 weeks back pay from the employer to get them on their feet that is how you get people into work properly, stop sanctioning people for not applying for jobs they are not qualified for and work in the interests of the to be employee how does it make sense to punish people looking for work? and why is it ok to make those people essentially work for less then minimum wage that isn't even payed by the person employing them for 2 weeks ?

Labour are mainly focusing on the disability part of universal credit ie “lcwra” rather then pip. Also they are also mainly targeting younger people rather then the older people.
Also the PM has made it clear that whether you are poor or disabled or both poverty is a main factor of focus. The main charities have contacted the new welfare minister regarding the tories proposal of replacing cash payments from pip.I think Labour will not entertain the tories proposal of pip but they will look into lcwra which is part of universal credit.Keep up the good work guys 👍

I was born with Spina Bifida (spinal curvature). In recent years, it has become chronic. My mobility is more limited now than it was maybe 20 years ago. I use a walker in the house. And a mobility scooter when I go outside. I can't work because of my limited mobility. And there are very few disabled accessable places where I live (in a small town on the South East coast). And i can't travel on public transport anymore. From what the guy was saying in the video, the government and DWP basically don't give 2 hoots about those of us with genuine long term conditions. It's basically "Get off benefits and work. Or we'll take your benefits away regardless". Essentially leaving us with nothing.

Where are the jobs you’re going to supermarket and most of them are nowadays are self-service so that cuts out jobs in shops for people that may not want a stressful job but I prepared to go back to work for a few hours a day. It is very very difficult and there will never be 100% answer to these problems but they must think very very carefully before they make any moves they have been cases where people have committed suicide and starts to death because of actions taken, by the DWP 😢

I have bipolar disorder, diabetes 2, asthma, FND, chronic back/knee pain after an accident, and sleep apnea. I live in the middle of nowhere and cannot drive due to those conditions. I can fall asleep unintentionally, even when talking to someone, looking at a screen, etc. Also, constant pain and strong medication side effects are brutal. I do get PIP - every penny of it is used purely related to those illnesses - social care is a joke, and why should I claim it if I already have benefits to pay. Therefore, I pay a cleaner, gardener, and carer support. I have twin 12-year-olds, one mildly autistic - I have managed to keep him out of the care system.
He is in a small class (15 children, 3 TAs and a teacher) for children with SEN. He is in Year 7, and they've extended it to Year 8. That's the oldest they can support. I hope they can manage him into the mainstream. I hope he will not need to move to a specialist school, but it won't be determined for over a year.
The boys are accommodating and understanding, but I sometimes pay someone to take them out on activities. One with autism does need help at night if he wakes up, so I sleep while they are at school the next day.
I wish I was well and able to work, but it is impossible now. If I could swap all those disabilities with someone able to work, I'd be much happier. A life free of pain and the opportunity to enjoy time with my children and earn/be self-sufficient again.
The daft thing is that I pay out more than the benefit amount. I don't expect DWP to pay for the total amount,

Personally, i’d love to see the whole thing scrapped and replaced by universal basic income. It would be possible to fund by just redirecting money from other areas. I think this is the only sensible solution long term which could combat all potential problems with poverty, illness, and the future of work where AI and robots do a lot more. UBI makes complete sense to me, but may be far too progressive to be generally accepted quickly. Labour have only been in power for 4 days, and they’ve already done a lot of good things. But this kind of reform would restructure society and take decades alas… but I do think with AI and robots doing more work that UBI is inevitable.

The reality is that migrants do NOT live in 5star conditions as the hotels are generally overcrowded slums providing one small meal a day, often consisting of rotten ingredients. And the migrants don't get free mansions, Ferraris, or tickets to England matches either.
