    love this Autobahn, done it too many times but always puts a smile on my face driving it. Leave Frankfurt south and its a drivers dream road, no matter the time of day or night. No Speed limit just enjoy drive.

    The A5 was already a test track in the 30s. Record drives were carried out there. The racing driver Rudolf Caracciola keeps the record speed of 436km / h on public roads to this day. The racing driver Bernd Rosemeyer had a fatal accident on the A5 in 1938 while attempting to set a record. There is still a memorial stone in the Parkplatz Bornbruch West. In the video at 2:40. Formerly the Parkplatz Rosemeyer, but due to the past it was renamed with an early entry into the SS.

      tbh they should rename it back to Rosenmeyer Parkplatz. Bernd Rosenmeyer was a famous and known person, and his achievements overlap the fact that they happened during Nazi era.

    This video brought back great memories for me. I have driven this section of the A5 many times during my visits to Germany between 1989-2012. Hope to be able to drive it again soon. Thank you! As to the average speeds, I remember driving 215 km/h on a Sunday morning between Darmstadt and Frankfurt.

    This experimental e-truck system remind me plans in Lithuania back in Soviet Union times to connect largest Lithuanian cities trolleybus systems of Kaunas and Vilnius. Motorway Vilnius-Kaunas would had have trolleybus line and I expect it would have looked similar as in your video. I tend to doubt if there would be lighting system, but it would had been cool if they had implemented continuous lighting between Kaunas and Vilnius, like we see with Belgium motorways. All trolleybus lines in Lithuania has lighting as far as I know.

      I have been to Russia before corona-times. Most of their big cities have got such trolleybus systems and corresponding lines as you mentioned above.

    Hele vette video!

      Before the pandemic, I used to commute on that part of the A5 daily. I just love going fast so I used to go 160-180 kph in off-peak hours. Since 2019, I’ve been following a self-imposed 110 kph limit in order to help fight climate change and to save money. Driving slowly isn’t even any less fun on the A5 once you get used to it. I’ve been sticking to the 110 limit ever since, and will continue to do so once the pandemic is over.

      Ich denke mal nicht, dass der E Highway kommen wird... Der Grund ist Simpel, im Falle eines Unfalles kann kein Rettungshubschrauber mehr landen... Ein EC 135, dieser ist derzeit für diesen Zweck der am meisten verwendete Hubschraubertyp, braucht zum Landen eine freie Fläche von 20x60m in der sich auch keine Fahrleitungen oder ähnliches Befinden dürfen, da sie sonst Abgerissen werden würden, und so zu einer unkontrollierbaren Gefahr für alle werden würden.

      What would probably work better is an induction system, so that the power is distributed via a cable buried in the road surface. It would work for all sorts of vehicles, not just trucks that are tall enough to put a trolley bar on the roof. (Not to mention that such a bar on your BMW looks a bit silly...)

    • @lane0mator
      @lane0mator 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeverityOne that costs even more and with every damage in the surface you need high voltage technicians to fix it, not asphalt workers. Too complicated. Plus induction has high losses when there's a lot of space like here between car and ground, the efficiency is low. We don't have enough power to waste to do this. Even H2 is more efficient.
