Honestly don’t even worry about this. I’ve been reading on my own for a while now, and I’ve noticed that my scores on English assignments, tests, and exams as well as the ACT have been fairly high, with a lot less studying than for other sections. Just read something everyday, whether it’s actually an informative book or just some novel.

That does seem effecient. I'm mainly interested in romance novels, and I often look up unfamiliar words from them. I try to use context clues, but I usually still don't get it. I'm also trying to learn a new language, so when I read, I immediately write down a new word and its meaning just in case i need to go back to it. So I'll apply the same thing with words in English bc I'd recognize the word but often forget the meaning

Sapiens is an AMAZING book, but it’s a little hard to digest. If you aren’t an avid or advanced reader, I would recommend Sapiens: a graphic history. They put all the ideas of that book into a graphic novel format and not only is it really fun, but mind opening too!

There is one God, who created Heaven and Earth. He made us in His image and likeness. He made us to worship and we chose to rebel against God. As a result we are seperated from God but God didn’t leave us. Instead God sent His one and only Son, His Son is Jesus. He was born of a virgin and lived a life without sin, though He was tempted in every way as we are. He went on the cross and He willingly took our sins past, present and future. Jesus died in my place for my sins, paying my debt to God and purchasing my salvation. Jesus died but He rose on the third day victory over satan, sin, demons and hell. Jesus tells us to share this story of the Good News and there’s a God that lovingly pursues us. Jesus is coming to judge the living and the dead and those who trust in God will forever be with Him in His Kingdom and those who do not will suffer forever in hell.

Another book I would suggest reading is The Art of War by Sun Tzu. It’s an amazing book Focusing on military strategy, psychology and tactics. Each section concentrates on a different facet of warfare and draws out important themes such as communication, strength and positioning. It is quite hard to read for a beginner or a non-native English speaker but it’s a timeless classic of East Asian culture and history and is still taught in some colleges today.

Sapiens is a horribly biased book. Read the Western Canon, world history, historical fiction, master proof-based mathematcs and develop the ability to abstract the logical form of everyday linguistic proposition to the extent of being able to formulate variants of propositions. This is extremely useful in critical thinking and developing questions relevant to the subject at hand. Then proceed to read philosophy, and finally, read GREAT Novels to increase one's rhetorical skills, linguistic fluency and asthetic appreciation which is the hallmark of an educated and knowledgeable person. Good luck everyone.

God loves you and sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die as payment for our sin on cross. God Jesus Christ became a man, crucified, died, buried, is risen, will return to judge all. all have sinned by breaking God's law, deserve death, eternal torment in lake of fire. God did all to save us from sin and hell. what must we do to be saved? repent, believe, obey God Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour to be saved from sin, hell. this is truth and gospel.

Intelligence as it’s measured today is left up to tons of factors like general mood, environment, experiences and social interactions. Just focus on improving yourself not everything is so predetermined

Yuval Noah Harari is infotainment. You need to read him critically because he uses too much rhetoric when arguing (instead of pure logic) and can be a tad sensationalistic. "Big History" is fine but I wouldn't recommend Harari to a high schooler, however smart. There's better books out there but I guess it "sounds" impressive in your college application 🙄
