For motors we used to connected 6 cables(r1y1b1 & r2y2b2)with terminal block.
We never short terminal on terminal block.
What's difference b\w Short in terminals and open (which mean 6 cables connected directly)

Thank you sir...ques:1 how do the star-delta starter minimise the starting current???By which means of act its minimizing the current ques2: when we short the two phases its blast the system but nothing it happened when we short three phases in star connection....i know its hard to understand my language...lol:-)

first thing we are not shorted two phases but we can do three phases shorted because of all three phases junction point is a neutral point First condition Main and star contactor closed that means one end three phase supply applied and other end shorted act as a neutral, due to reduced the starting current because of reduce starting torque and speed, Second condition Main and Delta contactor closed that means one end and other end three phases split, due to motor reached after attain full speed and torque and reached normal full load current.
