A lot of indigenous groups in the Philippines are being deprived of their homes and ancestral land due to deforestation and military action. An example of an indigenous group experiencing this is the Lumads who are based in Mindanao. The Lumads are deprived of their homes because the Philippine government is ordering to cut down trees for commercialization. And even worse, due to militaary action, Lumads and other Philippine ethnic groups, young ang old, are being killed ( the women, raped ) for they protest leaving their homes.
This project is lead by Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) in collaboration with 6 science museums in the Asia Pacific region. The Mind Museum is the chosen partner for the Philippines. Know more about the project: picturehappines...
